Just picked one of these up for my mum from Carphone Warehouse on an O2 PAYG upgrade for £49.99. It was purchased to replace her Lumia 630.
Having played with it for a few hours I have to say this - it's OK. Not great, but not terrible.
The camera, although having a flash whereas the Lumia 630 doesn't, doesn't perform as well as the 5MP camera in the Lumia 630. It's quite slow at taking pictures with a delay of 1.5 seconds after pressing the shutter button before the photo is actually taken.
Slight sluggishness can be noticed when the phone is performing background tasks. I highly advise you turn off 'auto-update apps' in the Play Store's settings menu to prevent noticeable lag.
The screen. It has excellent viewing angles and can get very bright, and blacks are deep and inky. However, the pixel density is low and is roughly on par with the Lumia 630 at the low end of 200ppi so if you're used to mid to high end handsets with higher resolutions you'll definitely notice the pixels in this screen.
But for under £50 I can't complain. I think it's a better option than the Moto E as there are a few LG-specifc features that are present on this phone - and they work well. A few examples include the gesture capture when taking selfies, Knock On double tap to wake, and Knock Code.
Sticking a microSD card in it is a must. The phone only had around 3GB of usable storage left before installing any apps. After installing around 6 apps this shot down to 1.5GB.

Moto E is not good as not due to have more updates and the latest one leaves it buggy with memory leaks and lag. Really wish I hadn't bought mine as otherwise it would be a nice little phone.

I don't understand your question! You can get this for less than £45, as an upgrade, according to the OP - which implies (the upgrade bit) that you already have a sim. So being sim-free is not a problem. And it's cheaper.

I think it's cheaper the way he described it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think Motorola set up a good balance when it comes to a budget phone in the Moto G.
This LG is alright apart from the low screen res.

£44.99 for upgrade (which will be sim-free)
versus
£65, also sim-free, plus £20 top up = £85.
