A great deal if you're a fan of the curve. I have the original G Flex and am really happy with it.
Expansys are reliable enough to purchase from so no worries there.

I've rooted mine now, which was a bit of a nerving experience... easy tool method got stuck, so while i was still in download mode i used the alternate command line method without disconnecting the usb, phew it worked
the charger works fine for me, although i did plug it into the adapter incorrectly at first
overall I'm very pleased, phone is smooth as silk
oh yeah, note there are thin bits of plastic protector on all 4 sides, i only just noticed them

Install another launcher and it almost feels like stock Android. I came from a Nexus 5 and prefer vanilla Android.
For me, this phone looks like a bargain compared to the new Nexus 5s. I was also considering a £110 Chinese Android phone but took the safer route and picked up one of these.
Only question mark is battery life so will see how that goes.

About four people at work ordered this deal when I showed it to them and they have all received it now. One is whining that the speaker isnt very loud and that he doesnt like the LG interface. However the other three absolutely love the phone. They have all came from previous Android handsets whereas the latter came from a Windows Lumia handset.
I feel a it behind with my G Flex 1 but I just love the six inch screen and monster battery. I can still go three days without a charge (almost), based upon below average usage (e.g. daily email, bit of browsing and a few mins of video).

I like it alot. I use the Nova launcher which is clean and fast so never feel bogged down with bloat.
Phone is rapid. Not noticed any slowdowns at all.
Screen very nice. Curve is subtle. As reviews all say, very nice phone to hold.
Got a plug convertor with mine but the euro plug and converter does not charge the phone. My Samsung charger worked fine though. Anyone else experience this?
Its a Czech model by the looks of the box.

g.flex 2 will get android 6 but not likely as fast as g4 and that will be it.but its a high performance phone far cheaper than other options and the screen is fantastic.the curve makes a difference.the camera is good.battery is good.speed is top notch after five updates.probly runs the snapdragon 810 as good as its ever going to get.i notice no lag or overheating at all.for just over 200 nothing compares the new moto g is near 200 and its pathetic compared to this

Interested if you could supply the source as LG have made no official announcements. The fact remains this is a 2015 flagship phone undergoing a fire sale. If I were LG I would not be wasting time and money updating a phone that I was losing money on.

updates.mostly crap.how many positve changes since jelly bean.few really.biggest positive change would be allowing most apps to go onto micro sd.also stop google services using so much battery.screen is biggest use off battery so not likely much change there however optimised android gets.google says lollypop works better on lower ram phones compared to kitkat but now we have 64bit 4gig ram phones.why is that.most stuff now adays is marketing bullcrap.fact is 2013 was the year of best improvements with snapdragon 800 and lg g2 how many phones last as long battery wise as lg g2??its only flaw was low internal memory and no micro sd

TheSpartan
9 Oct 15#53
Yeah instant updates and instant bugs much like previous releases, like you say the previous poster asked for a comparison so maybe it would have been better to highlight the hardware differences rather than concentrate on the software not that the response even explained the difference between the LG UI and stock android.

Is it a Free sim Phone ? Im willing to buy it but I worry that whether it is a contract phone
misterleoni to Nevermind99999
8 Oct 15#52
How do you mean? Expansys don't sell contracts. This wouldn't be much if it was this price with a contract on top :P
You appear to have correctly identified the issue with updates: "Updating is an issue for all OEM's".
The original poster was not referring to other OEM's, merely comparing this phone, to the upcoming Nexus 5X. Thus they are comparing a phone that will receive almost instant updates, to a phone that will not.
Waiting for an update may not be an issue for yourself, however in a few months time, once the updates become less frequent, or stop altogether, I'm sure it will be an issue.
This would be a concern for someone who has decided to purchase this phone, directly over a Nexus 5X, which was what was asked.
TheSpartan
8 Oct 15#48
Not really an issue is it, if all you have to do is wait and that's for the official updates. Updating is an issue for all OEM's as they all have additional software and features to change on top of stock Android. Whilst also trying to push the barriers in development of new phones.
As the poster stated " but it is unlikely to receive any further official Android updates." they were obviously wrong.
the dandy p
8 Oct 15#47
It's been announced that this is getting Android 6.0, however a timeline for that isn't in place yet, and the original point still stands; updates will be an issue in the future.

8 Oct 151#41
The Flex2 is being heavily discounted everywhere. It's unpopular, unusual shape and the Qualcomm 810 issues. This is a very good price and if you regularly change phones it makes a nice change, but it is unlikely to receive any further official Android updates. It took LG months just to get 5.1.1 out on the newly released flagship Flex2.
The Nexus 5X will continue to be updated for at least the next 2 years and has a large developer community.
If you change phones every 6 months get the LG, if you want to keep the phone for 2 years get the Nexus 5X.

8 Oct 15#38
I owned one of these and could not get on with it. I have also looked at one on display (so I don't think a dodgy handset) and with both I felt
- The display is grainy unless at full brightness
- the camera lacks any manual settings and so is hit or miss
- the curve negatively impacts on the readability of the screen for some (I found focussing difficult)
- My handset would stutter quite regularly (particularly flicking from photo to photo - very annoying)
- The set icons for messaging and phone are outdated and ugly as is the messaging app (easily changeable - but really annoyed me!)
I bought at about this price thinking it would be a real upgrade to my z2 - it didn't feel like an upgrade at all. Luckily I managed to sell at no loss however 2nd hand prices at CEX, GAME etc have recently dropped for the phone.
My Z2 was dropped and repaired and is now a bit glitchy - but still happier with it than the g flex 2

I bought one of these (32GB version)about 3 weeks ago from eGlobal for £200. Updated it to 5.1.1 straight away, its a brilliant phone, very fast, no lag. The only time it gets hot is with intense 3D gaming, but so do other modern phones. For those who care it also scores well in benchmarks, AnTuTu almost 58000, geekbench 3 1225 single and 4263 multi. For £200 its an absolute beast. Also comes with a quick charger that will charge it in around 1h20mins
