Seen in the Wigan Aldi and assume it's nationwide.
Best price I've seen it at.

I know plenty about real ale and I'm saying I think it's a decent drink. Find it bizarre you are making claims about it not being good enough for you but happily try one that's 25p more as if that makes for a far superior brew. It's a £1.25 and you won't spend that to form your own opinion?
Anyway this is about deals not reviews. Regardless of whether it's to your taste it's a good price but the fact it's now cheaper puts you off?

There is plenty of great beer out there already for me to try, I've always assumed that this was a mid taste beer, just based on the fact that it is sold in discount supermarkets and the licensing deal must cost extra on the price, add that to the fact it's sold for £1.25, means you are probably getting beer worth about a quid, now bottled beer for a quid in Aldi is middle of the road decent stuff, ok, but not good enough for me.
When I get people who know about real ale telling me it's nothing special, it's good enough for me.
I tried 1698 last night, now that is an amazing beer, bought at 25p more than this stuff. I prefer to pay the extra

There's enough people that rate it rather than being put off by the opinion of one person.

agreed, it's a bit of a heavy (metal) beer......the price is a lot better than Tescos though

I love a good real ale. Sadly this is more One Direction than Iron Maiden.
Hopefully the new Trooper 666 will have more flavour.

Tesco used to sell it at this price about six months ago. Then they introduced their "special offer", where they put it up to £1.99 and now sell it for four for £6.00. Tesco's version of a "special offer", buy a £1.25 bottle of beer for £1.50.

Cheers for posting, a great price that, I picked up a few bottles at our local Aldi today. I quite like it, certainly got a great label.

Been buying this a few years, gone off it a bit kinda gives me a sore head in the morning even if I don't have too many.

I also recommend the Brakspear - Oxford Gold [4.6%] which sells roughly at the same price, maybe a little more. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Agreed! I like it and regardless of whether you do or don't it's the cheapest I've seen it sold and therefore a good deal I think.

It is a good price, but it's a shame the beer itself isn't as good.

I disagree, it's net a great ale but it isn't bad by any stretch and pulled on a wicket through a sparkler (like ale always should be - take note southerners!) its actually bloody lovely.

Nice. My flatmate's a massive fan, so I'll grab a bottle for him this afternoon. Be a nice little surprise for him when he gets home from work.

They must have been trying it out on the less-discerning alcoholic before distributing it nationwide [so I gave it a thumbs-up] ;-)

that's Aldi's regular price for it - certainly in all the local stores I've been in around the West Mids.

It was the first time I've seen it sold in Aldi so was pleased to see it at a decent price.
