i have bought this before and its fantastic, cooks great , really long separated grains. i personally prefer this to tilda as i find its more aromatic.
works out at 80p per kg, which is a bargain price compared with other brands.
5kg is £7.25 which is £1.45 kg.

Thanks, I'll give this a try.
I have always tried to buy the m&s basmati rice when I'm near, as I think that it far better than most and it cooks excellent, but I will definitely give this a go though.

After washing the rice soak it in tepid water for 20 minutes
Bring loads of water to boil and AFTER water starts boiling add the rice
Should take 5-6 mins and keep checking till 90% done
Remove from heat and strain the rice of all water.
Return rice to the same pot and just cover for 10 minutes while it cooks in own steam!
ENJOY!

Here is how to do it easy:
Take rice in a 200 ml glass. Wash properly. Put in a big MV bowl with 420ml of water and 1 or 2 ml of cooking oil (any). Put in the WV for 14 or 15 mins depending on how powerful it is.
Leave it for few mins.
Thats all.

The best way is to soak it before n then a bit of oil add one cup rice to 1.5 hot water n salt. U can always add a bit of water at end if needed. Fluff it with a fork n voila

Sometimes nice to see joking comments. Why get upset?
Ok - here is THE answer: There are many VARIETIES of Rice. And--- some cook differently for different preparations. Just like you have COOKING apples here for a purpose - BUT also you have different OTHER varieties which are NOT for cooking. Some are sweet, some tangy etc . Variety is the spice of life. Indian Rice you get Tilada Basmati this is supposed to be the Top brand which when you have washed and boiled it comes into separate grains. There are other Basmati rice brands also. Different companies take advantage of the name "Basmati" because this is the best quality. "Basmati" refers to Aromatic. So if it IS a SUPERIOR QUALITY rice it will have AROMA that is not found in other rice AND these grains are SEPARATE when washed and boiled. This is the REAL PROOF it is Basmati. Basmati rice is fed by waters of the Himalayas Mountain range in India.

it's important to try not to break the grains when handling as the starches will dissolve into the cooking/rinsing water.
Poorer quality brands have many broken grains.
I find that cooking on the lowest heat possible with rice/water volume ratio of 1:2 in a covered pan gives the easiest results. Throw in a cardamom or two, cumin, turmeric etc will give it that extra something.
