Hi
I have ordered an EE 100gb sim and was wondering if I could use it in this device after the 30 days are up?
Or do you return the device?

I bought this device a few weeks back. Cancel the SIM from EE the same day you receive it so you don't pay more than £20 for the data SIM. You don't send the device back it's yours to keep.

Heat for the deal - where's the catch? How can they be "giving" this away?
Don't need it, but for £20 I think I'll be buying one on Monday!

Cheers, I've ordered one to go with the EE 100gb Sim, will be cancelling the Direct Debit as soon as i see it appear in my bank.
Here's a direct link for those that can't find it -
You also need to fill oiyt DD details etc - this IS a rolling contract but needs cancelled immediately - not bad price anyway tbh

Hi jeeves/qt102
You normally need to call the network, so in this case ID Mobile (0333 003 7777), and then go through to the cancellations dept.
Don't see why you need to put the SIM in, as it's a data SIM, so you can't call from it, so just call the above from your mobile.
How is yours getting delivered, is it via Royal Mail or DPD?
Also, let us know how you get on with the cancellation, and how you do it.
I've just ordered on there, so hopefully if it's sent via DPD i'll get mine tomorrow.
Thanks

Thanks for the info. Mines getting delivered by dpd, not received it yet. I have rang their customer service number and successfully cancelled my contract which ends 18th november. However, the person I spoke to said they do not send out confirmation of cancellation via emails and for that I need to go through their contact us tab via their website and email them.

Cheers for the info, I suppose if you have the name of the person you called and the date/time, that's fine.
I'll do it the same way when i receive the item.

So good deal, 20gb of data for the month, and also a 4G mifi unit for around £20.

AndyRoyd
31 Oct 15#48
Possibly stating the obvious: assuming you wish to minimise the contract term, you need to cancel the contract by actively giving ID your 30days notice as soon as you start the contract. Simply cancelling the DD before ID can take any payment will not cancel the contract but will leave yourself open to IDs debt recovery procedures inc recovery fees, plus potentially dent your credit rating. There is also a fee for non-DD payments.

Good deal. Not voting due to the following reasons:
- Carphonewarehouse does credit check for this and given their recent data leak, I don't want to risk it,
- My last name is 2 words and their stupid system does not accept it. I've told them many times in the past 3 years,
- They're known to do more than one credit checks and screw up the credit report,
- Cancellation is trouble too since they mess the cancellation and cause loads of after trouble with debt chasing etc
I'd stay away from them

This is new to me, I've looked at Carphonewarehouse and there doesn't seem to be any explanation there. So is this like a router that provides mobile broadband/wifi to your devices? Can you connect PCs to it wirelessly? What if you goes over the 20Gb limit? So if I got this, but kept it going for say three months then cancelled, would I likely be able to keep the device (even for a small termination fee of say under £20?) really need a lot of data at the moment and the network ID use seems to give best coverage for the area I use it in.
guptalloyd to dezontk
3 Nov 15#66
You can order tonight, get tomorrow, and there will be no termination fee, as it's a one month rolling contract. You choose when to throw in the towel in effect - could be when you get it, or 3 months...doesn't matter, no early termination.

18 Nov 15#74
Originally the deal was £0 up front and £40 per month. If you phone or email to give notice to cancel as soon as you receive your new mobile number, then you would effectively only pay the £40.
If you paid £20 up front then you probably would have to pay the first month, so £60 in total.
soulhunter123777
18 Nov 15#75
I just want to add my own experience here. I made the bad decision to purchase this deal, £0 upfront + £20pm on a 30 day contract.
Couple of days later I received an email with my ID Mobile number (but still hadn't received my SIM or device).
I immediately phoned and said I'd like to give notice of cancellation, and was told there would be a £20 early cancellation fee. I explained it's only a 30 day contract so I'm not cancelling early... I'm just giving my notice. The advisor absolutely insisted I have to pay a fee, and ignored my requests for a manager, saying the manager would tell me the same thing.
After a solid hour or arguing my point, I phoned back. Guess what? The next advisor cancelled me without hassle.
Two weeks later, I've now cancelled my direct debit, and got an email stating that I'll be charged extra if I don't set it up again.
So I go online to try to set it up - but you have to register online first. In order to register, you need to be sent a code via SMS. But I don't have a spare unlocked phone - only the MiFi device - so I can't receive their SMS. I phone up, and the advisor sounds extremely confused. She makes me go through the registration process and reads me out the code from her end, which would be fine if the website didn't take about 2 minutes to load each page of the registration process.
And what about customers who don't have any internet connection? How do they register, I ask? After all, I bought a MiFi device which suggests (correctly) that I don't have any landline internet access.
"They have to find wifi to register." Helpful.
TL;DR avoid this company

I had a similar experience when I tried cancelling and they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee. Luckily it didn't take long to convince him but he did have to put me on hold a few times while he checked bits out. In regards to your SMS issue, hopefully I can help you out. If you have an iPhone – download the Huawei HiLink app and connect your phone to the wifi – there's an option within the app to read (and I believe send) SMS messages from the SIM within the device.

See below emails to iD Mobile, my advice is stay well away from this company, as £1940.55 for 6 days internet is not good value, the Mifi dongle was only used to view web pages and stream youtube, what Id call normal use.
On 01/11/15 I went into Carphone warehouse store looking for advice regarding mobile broadband, I explained that my home broadband network was poor, I was advised to purchase a £20 Mifi dongle on the iD network which was fine, However on 06/11/15 I managed to install the iD app onto my iPad, upon opening the app and logging in I was shocked to see that it says I owe £451.49??? I phoned the iD help centre and spoke to someone extremely unhelpful, I explained that I want to cancel my contract under the 14 day cool down rule, but was told I can't.
As I'm sure you agree the product sold to me is not fit for purpose, it's simply not practical to expect someone to pay £451.49 for a weeks worth of Internet, The paperwork and receipt I received from the sales person clearly states I'm on a monthly contract for £20 per month, it also says that there is a calls limit for £75 per month, how could my account get to £451.49 without warning??, I'd also like to note that I wasn't given a copy of my full contract explaining fully what I had signed up for. On this basis, from today 07/11/15 I wish to cancel my contract under the 14 day cool down rule, I'd like you to investigate why these ridiculous charges have occurred and put control measures in place to prevent this from happening to other people, I will happily honor the agreement and pay the monthly £20 but there's no way I could even afford to pay the ridiculous amount of £451.49 even if I wanted to.
Update as from today 19/11/15:

Further to my trouble cancelling, I've had even more of a nightmare. Here's what's happened so far:
1. ID Mobile's online portal said that my £20 bill had been "Paid", on 15/11/15, so I cancelled my Direct Debit.
2. Turns out it hadn't actually been debited yet, so they emailed me to say that an extra charge of £3.50 was being added to my bill for not having a Direct Debit.
3. I emailed them angrily, they confirmed that only £20 would be taken out - no extra charge.
4. They took payment of £20, correctly, on 27/11/15.
5. I emailed them requesting confirmation that my account now owed £0.00 and was told that I owe £20, due on 14/12/15.
6. I emailed an incredulous response, told them to make sure they took nothing more from me, and cancelled my direct debit.
If they dare to even attempt to charge me any more, or leave a mark on my credit file, I'll see them in court and milk them for every penny I can.
Never, ever will I have anything to do with any Carphone Warehouse related company again.
