I saw this deal someone posted month ago: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huawei-4g-mi-fi-15gb-ee-data-29-99-carphone-warehouse-potential-5-with-tcb-25-tracked-2282586

I have found this new deal on Carphone warehouse website

NO UP FRONT COST (£9.99 on the other deal)
20gb DATA (15gb on the other deal) for £20
ONE month Rolling contract
NOT EE but ID Network (http://www.idmobile.co.uk/)
POSSIBLE CASHBACK - £25 QUIDCO

Only thing I see that concerns me is the network is ID which is Carphone warehouse own network not having had any experience with them before and they seem very new: http://www.idmobile.co.uk/

So cancel as soon as you get it same as the other deal I'm assuming to get the device for £20!

Support for UK LTE bands 3 and 7 but not 20.

Well seaniboy just showed you one answer to get more for your £20? But seems you want others to check coverage in your area because your to lazy to find out if 3 network is better than EE in your area?

I got this back in October and gave my 30 day notice on the day it arrived. I used it for a little while in the first month to check it out. After 30 days it no longer worked. I’m about to change broadband and phone from TalkTalk to Plusnet (Yippee!) and I bought this in case my connection gets screwed up over the changeover. Can someone advise me the best data sim to buy to use with it if my broadband goes down and I need to get a connection? For guidance, when we’re not regularly watching stuff on Iplayer or NowTV, our usage is less than 10GB per month. Any suggestions?

Similar to others on here. Despite cancelling they took two lots of 20 out of my account. Then during a prolonged email and phone exchange they insisted I had not cancelled and therefore there would be another two payments taken out. At this point I cancelled the direct debit. Now I am being hounded by some debt collection agency for those payments plus additional charges. I have a spotless credit record which will now no doubt be compromised by this c**p. Didn't get the quidco payout either and never used the included data. I simply do not have the time to keep chasing this so am very very unhappy.

Well I don't need mine any more. Only got it for when my BB was down for 2 months. You can have it for £30 plus whatever it costs for recorded/registered delivery, if you want it. Not sure where the box is as I'm in the middle of decorating, but if you want it I can have a look around for it.

3 Dec 15 1 #190
Agreed...and quite a few people have had the cash back declined or paid 2 x £20 just on the off chance of getting £25 back. Just make sure when you cancel they don't try to charge a cancellation fee. You are giving them 30 days notice and there isn't a cancellation fee in their T&Cs for that. And made sure they dont think you want to return it within the 14 day cooling off period.

I said it was a bit painful but keep ringing till you speak to the right person who understands and it works.

wenttoabetterplace
29 Nov 15 #184
I think they are probably breaking some kind of rule right there. As per their t&c's, you have to provide 30 days notice to cancel the contract. The way CPW are operating though, that 30 days notice can extend to 59 depending on where you are in the billing cycle when the cancellation is requested.
I'm sure they will give you a pro-rata refund.
ScubaDudes
29 Nov 15 #183

Just a heads up, I received the welcome email from iD today informing me that my allowances also begin from today. CPW have yet to even despatch the mifi ! I phoned them immediately to cancel giving the required 30 days notice. No problems at all, very straightforward. I've emailed CS for written confirmation of my cancellation and date the service is to end. Quidco has tracked instantly at £25 as well.

I tried to get this also....however I failed the ID check....hence I'm not allowed to purchase this....customer services said that I had to pass both the credit check and also ID check...when the ID check this failed I asked why/how this has happened...the customer service rep said he wasn't too sure and that I had to wait 3 months before trying again!!!..

I explained that I'm on a rolling contract with ID network since May of this year...the customer services rep ignored my responses and cut the conversation short....

I've never had an issue with my ID nor my credit history....I then checked my details on experian...all clear no issues with my ID or credit history....

I called again....same story..that I keep failing the ID check...at this moment in time I'm on a rolling contract with the following networks....VM - 2 SIMS, Three - 2 SIMS, ID - 1 SIM....recently ordered another SIM only from VM...guess what....No issues with my ID/Credit check....why an issue with carphonewarehouse....they said that I need to speak to ID who can tell me why...but I ended up looping around from CPWH to ID...eventually gave up...

Thank you very much for that. I went to it from the browser on my phone and it showed me there is an app available.
Installed it now and it's pretty damn good. Basic, but good.

It shows your data usage and allows you to set a limit and notification. I'm almost hoping it's wrong as its showing that i've used 4.3gb since this morning.

Apart from this it also allows you to set up the device as a wifi extender.

Overall I'm very happy with this deal. It couldn't have come at a better time for me. Speeds seem fairly decent too, getting between 12-17mb down and up to 4.5mb up. Fingers crossed that the cashback comes through.

I've had a bizarre experience to date. No problem ordering and delivery was prompt. But I got no email with mobile tel no for the MiFi and it was not on any of the paperwork with the delivery. Nearly every approach to iD Mobile requires the mobile tel no first. I eventually got help from the twitter id.

Now SIM is up and running and I find the MiFi only happily connects to 3G iD Mobile in my house (it sees 4G but signal v weak and it will not hold a connection). In the same places, a 2nd Gen Moto G happily connects to 3 on 4G. Is the MiFi just bad at picking up a signal, or is iD Mobile a "reduced" form of 3 network? Or both! Grateful for any insight and thanks in advance.

(For what it is worth, I am looking for a good MiFi connection at home as a backup while I work through a very tedious, long-lasting but intermittent problem with BT Broadband. If anyone has any top tips for kicking BT into action, please let me know!)

I had the same emails. I had already cancelled the day after I bought the box and signed up so registered the sim. The blll says my contract ends on 29th Nov and the bill was dated 31 October for £20 which would be collected on 14th November by Direct Debit.

Only thing of concern was the bit on My account that says my estimated next bill for £20 would be on 30th November.... hopefully not!!

I'm hoping you are billed a month in advance and I'll only end up paying 1 x £20. In the meantime I'm using the20GB data I've paid for on the sim.

2 Nov 15 #143
Has anyone used the iD SIM that came with theirs? Following the advice here I phoned and cancelled the contract as soon as I got the email with the number in, no problem doing that at all, all went smoothly.

The final bill though seems to be available from the iD account or app, but I can't set that up as it seems the SIM is disconnected, and you need to receive an SMS to activate the account. I can't get a signal at all (the MiFi works with another SIM) so I'm wondering if they've terminated it immediately? I'm not greatly bothered as TCB has tracked @£25 so if it pays out, I'll feel like a crook . Even if it doesn't, £20 for the unit is still great value, and I've just missed a month of data, no big deal.

It all depends on who you speak to.

My advice people, cancel the contract as soon as you get the e-mail with the phone number, even if you dont have the device still call up to give your 30days, this network decides if your 1 day after the contract you would have to pay for another month!
They may talk about a termination fee of around £19 but say no you want to give your notice, they wont give you any proof they have taken your 30 day notice so you have to e-mail them to have someone prove this.

For those who were like me and waited to receive the device before cancelling, you have to say you want to cancel the contract within the 14days cancellation and want to keep the device, they will cancel the contract within 72 hours and you pay £20. If you dont do this they will charge you 2 months worth of service even though the service was activated a day before and you havent even had it delivered!

Stay away from this network, more trouble then its worth

I got this device as I will be away from home travelling and seemed like a good deal with possible £20 cashback from Quidco. I read somewhere on this thread that it is unlocked so I can use this with the EE 100GB sim over the Xmas period.

Order went through and received the device yesterday. Called customer service today to cancel and was advised last day being 30 Nov 2015. I specifically told " I am calling to give 30 days notice on my data only MONTHLY contract". I later asked if there would be any canx charges and was advised NO.

I had query about being charged full for the second month as the last day is one day outside the second billing date of 29/11. First being 29/10/15 as per their email. I asked if they would charge full month or proportionate days and was told that the final bill will show all the charges and they cannot tell now. The final bill will come after 30/11.

So there is NO canx charge but possibility of being charged the monthly rental still lingers.

Till the final bill arrives can just hope they don't charge another £20 :sunglasses:

I called back and got it cancelled, they were talking about how I would have to pay 2 months worth as it was activated the day before even though I didnt get the product yet! I spoke to a manager and he told me he would cancel it as its within the 14 days and I get to keep the mifi.
But this is the worst customer service I ever experienced! I use to work for three and they werent this bad, they were talking about if i had it for more then 14 days i would have to pay a another month & a cancellation fee of around £19!

I received my unit today, rang up this afternoon and spoke with a very helpful South African call centre CS person. I said I wanted to cancel my 30 day rolling contract - no problem and he told me my last day of usage would be 29th November. What I want advice on is this - at some point in the future I might wish to get a data sim to use in this device that is on a PAYG basis. i.e. so many GB of data/usage for £x BUT I don't want a contract. I want to use the data as and when I need it and top up when I get low (like a PAYG mobile.) Given I want to use it infrequently and want the data allowance to stay valid until used, can anyone point me in the right direction for the kind of PAYG data sim I should be looking for? My reason for this is we sometimes lose our phone line for days at at time (middle of nowhere and phone line often gets damaged by trees) and I want the backup capability of mobile internet access if/when that happens again. Also, if I change Broadband supplier in the future (depending on who I go to) I've been told I may be without broadband for a few days. In such an instance this device would be invaluable. That's why I need a PAYG data sim card where the data allowance doesn't expire and I'm not on any sort of rolling contract. i.e. I pay when I use it and I don't pay when I don't! Can anyone point me in the right direction? Does such a data sim/package even exist? Any comments or direction to other sources of information will be gratefully received.

Popped into store this afternoon and managed to buy one they had in stock. Signed up for the rolling contract and paid nothing,

Tried to cancel this evening.... utter shambles...
... initially talk of termination fees.... then talk of within 14 day cooling off period and I would have to return the box to store to cancel the contract and then purchase it outright with no contract.....NO, NO, NO!!.

I terminated the call... I'll try and get hold of someone with a modicum of intelligence tomorrow.

Managed to get through to someone who could deal with the cancellation. They initially said there would be a £19.99 termination fee. Told her it was only a month contract. Got put on hold then came back saying id still have to pay the £20 which was fine. Asked for the contract end date and they said they would call me back, but they haven't.

ID are more trouble than they're worth in my opinion. I had a 1 month rolling contract with them from another deal on here for £7.50 a month. I gave my notice to cancel the day I got the SIM. However, I was charged 2 x £7.50 as the billing cycle started the day the order was made, not the day I received it and was charged a full £7.50 for the 2nd cycle despite me only getting 3 days use from it before it disconnected due to the notice. I've had various answers about how I'll get my money back. The latest is that it's going to be put back on my debit card - we'll see....

Just called now to cancel and they guy on phone was not very helpful to explain what the £19.xx termination fee is. And he didn't seem to be willing to explain what my final bill will be with so called termination fee. Utterly rubbish service.

Just rang up, told systems are down too.

I've taken the name & time of the call in case they say I can't cancel within the 30days, but she implied that the contract & item are separate, both have a 14 day cooling off period, so i'm sure that even if you left it 2 weeks to cancel you wouldn't be charged for next month
mubashar
29 Oct 15 #117
I think you were misadvised if they mentioned you will be charged £40. I suggest you ring again and speak to another agent to confirm. It's 30 days notice and your service can only begin when you receiving it. And even if you went over by a few days, they can only charge you up to ~70p per extra day. Or else, ask them where in their terms do they say it will cost an extra £20 for even one day over 30 days.

Just received my MIFI (Huawei E5573s-320).

Plug and play with the included ID sim - shows up a Three network.

I called ID Customer Services on 0333 003 7777 to cancel my contract. You need to enter the number (as per Carphone Warehouse invoice) and then enter a 4 digit pin (last 2 digits of your bank account + last 2 digits of your new mobile).

The cancelation is then very very straight forward. Confirm you details and cancel - no questions.

Thanks op for sharing this brilliant deal. I have ordered for me and receiving on this Friday.

Well all of you who have cancelled the contract, do you know of any better sim only deal for data to use with this device. I tried looking, but don't find it cheap enough. I am looking for 3 to 5 gb data preferably under £10. Thanks for your help in advance.
HammerTime10 to rbsub
28 Oct 15 #87
Personally the reason i want to cancel is because I'm currently on a Three Data plan for the last 2 years £10 for 15GB but it was on a 3G device.

I've been told I can pop this sim card into a 4G device and get 4G on my existing sim card so 20gb for £20 or £10 for 15GB...15gb is perfect for me for work  So i'm purely using this deal to get the Huawei 4G device for £20 (might be wrong but sod ya :stuck_out_tongue:)

I have emailed HOTUKDEALS to un-expire so let's if the will.
mubashar
28 Oct 15 #86
I received the devise and activated the sum by putting it in the mifi and going online via it as a test.

I did not set up an I'D account.

Further, others have said they put their cancellation through even prior to recieving their delivery. Not sure how as I needed to quote the number in order to process cancellation. Presumably ID CS must be able to identify your order details by other means.

What does the not supporting band 20 lte mean for us? some networks wont work on 4g?

I've set wifi mode to 5ghz, but havent noticed any difference in speed. Do you know if one band is more power hungry than the other as this device has quite a small battery

btw to change settings you can download huawei hilink app from google playstore (probably apple store also)

what the previous poster didn't say was that you have to talk to someone at ID to do this. The way he wrote it it sounds more like it's all done via an automated service which it's not. BUt anyway the CS was very helpful and said that the service will be disconnected in 30 days. NOW..... will it really? Has anyone experience with the ID CS? do they really do what they say? I did ask if I would get any written confirmation and was told that I would have to send an email in to the email team in order to get an email reply / acknowledgement.

Mine tracked at £25 for some reason when I ordered last week. Think it's an error though and will be amended to £20 as per the website at the time for an iD contract purchase.

By the way this comes UNLOCKED already. Using my T-Mobile sim in it and it just works-didn't have to enter any fancy settings etc.

Uses standard size sim but youshould be able to use a nano sim fine with it as you can wedge it in under the clip like slot that it has.

Yes the device has to be 4G/LTE capable to connect to it if you want 4G speeds, but it also does 3G so if you have like a iPhone 4 which is just 3G it will work fine but also will work with say iPhone6 which has 4G capability as well as 3G.

Basically it's a portable modem and WiFi router in one. the sim card inside provide internet over mobile signal.

So you can take it with you and connect up to 5-10 wireless devices to it. Phone, tablet e.g.

I have been using one at my business for 4 years because i refuse to pay there ridiculous £20 month for 1gb on site internet! plus they won't let you changer providers...but with MiFi it's made it so much easier. £10 month for 15gb with Three.

Also you don't have to cancel if you like the service then £20 for 20gb is pretty good in my eyes so stick with it, it's a rolling contract so if you want to change after 2-3 months then just cancel and keep the Mifi device and unlock it and stick any sim inside.

Something you might want to consider, I live in london (about 5 miles away from the Olympic park), I get between 40-90 mbps on EE and on iD I get on average 5 (five) mbps both are conned by 4g.

Something to consider.

Picked one up the other day. Great little device and comes unlocked. Using a T-Mobile pay as you go sim with a £20 six month booster and getting pretty fast internet on 3g.

Does have a power saving feature but I think this only kicks in after 10 mins of no activity and while on battery. I leave mine plugged in and it seems to remain awake for whenever I need it.

Just need to phone up and cancel with ID. Went through quidco which tracked at £25 but doubt I'll get that or anything especially if I cancel. Wondering if I should just use it for one month and then give my months notice to stand a better chance of getting quidco...
