Poundland have the Horrid Henry - Terrible Tales box set for £1!!
This was right next to the individual books which were priced at £1 each, including some which were in the box set.
I bought them at Weston Super Mare store. No idea if it's store specific!
This is my first deal so be gentle with me!

What age group are these suitable for?

Depends on the reading ability of the child. I would say 7-10 is the target age. But my nephews are 13 and 14 and still enjoy reading them.
I bought my set for year 3 and 4 classes

Also works out at a pound each with the set available from The Book People - but obviously there may be p&p unless you order enough to get it free.
Book people offer is £10 for a box set. So £1 a book?
This is £1 for the box set so 10p a book!

Sounds like you have a good young man there but some children would see Henry as a role model and find his mischievous and rude behaviour attractive.

Great price! I can agree about role models, but in this world we need to establish what is right and wrong as the role model adults and can't stop children from seeing this, so use it as an example. Mydaughter tells me about what Henry does, and knows if it's bad, which just encourages her to not be 'horrid' heat added for comparison we love reading! Thanks

My sons were bullied by a child that loves horrid Henry and directly used some of the things in the book in real life. It wasn't until I was unfortunate enough to see a few minutes of the cartoon I realised where the things were coming from. Teaches about gangs amongst other things and I sorry but a teacher buying them for a class is disgraceful. The books have been barred from some of our local schools now.

I'd say that's just as likely to be down the the bully having poor parenting. My son likes reading these with me and we talk about the bad things that he done at the end and use it as a basis on how not to behave.

Wow, banning books because of bullying. Perfect example of people and institutions going overboard.
Your child wasnt bullied because of a book. The bully needs talking to and discussion with parents. Not quite sure how banning literature is an acceptable move forward.

I think they are slowly changing their model. Have you been in one lately? The first few stacks of items are stuff priced 2 quid plus and "specials" which can be anything up to a tenner. Sad really.

Talking about 7 year old children who behaved exactly as a character did not an adult who should know better. Books have been banned for much less. It's not just one child that's bullied or behaved in a way similar to that in the book yes bad parenting on those parents but why should the minority of well behaved and well parented children deal with those bad ones. Lots of schools are now looking at what is acceptable or not maybe they are just not telling you. They might make the choice if they have them in the library or not or if they are completely banned as in a large school not in my county even went as far as to ban dressing up as him for world book day because of the bad influence. Even some local police and community workers use his character as how not to behave when they do visits and anti bullying courses.

The point is, banning the book is not going to stop a child being bullied. The root cause of the bullying is not a piece of literature, its the factors involved in that childs development i.e. parenting and environment. Banning literature is just ignorant. And on the flipside of your argument, why should other children be denied the pleasure of reading a story on the basis of another childs poor actions? Its not logical.

I would rather a book be removed from a school to stop a child being bullied than anything else. If it was your child which would you prefer? My boys both think the books are awful as do most of the children in the class. A few in minority that can read the book at home of they wish. My priority in this situation is my children and welfare not a book. End of. Out your self in my shoes or rather put your children in the situation

I have put my self in your shoes and I wouldn't ban a book. I would find out why the child thinks it's OK to bully, not question his choice of methodology.
If you think that if (s)he hadn't read that book (s)he wouldn't have bullied your child then I don't think you quite understand the psychology of it.
