Went into my local halfords to get a battery charger and saw this for £55 and thought it was a good price but when the cashier scanned it, it came up as £5. Price is for all stores. They are obsolete so get them before they run out. They won't be able to order any in as HQ have run out. (This was in Halfords Newton Abbot)

Once again HUKD amazes me. Over 100 degrees for a deal with no proof and no on else able to scan it at this price

Clever idea. Has this worked before? I went for one of those free winter health checks early this year. I was told my battery was looking like itmay be low. I'm guessing this may help but battery seems fine. Being told that plays on your mind when you start engine.

The reviews on the website suggest it's unlikely to work.

No battery charger can fix a battery that has passed a certain point. I suspect the reviewers batteries were toast.

I've never tried it before but there's nothing to say you have to buy it just because you've reserved it. It is a little cheeky but I'm the one that'll have to face the embarrassment if it comes up at 55 and I walk away.

I have reserved as well. I reserved something a while back and took three visits for the item to materialise. think they owe me a guilt free walk of shame.

The battery in my diesel car has been 'low' for 4 years now... Every winter is struggles to turn over when it's properly cold... Always starts though!

They are definitely that price in all stores, it's obviously a different item, if it's the new packaging then it's a different item number.

One day it won't. And that will be on the coldest day of the year, and possibly miles from anywhere. And the AA will have run out of spare batteries and their booster will be dead because you'll be the tenth one that morning.

But right now, it still does.
And if one day it doesn't, then I'll use the bike. Or the wifes car. Or jump it from the solar charged leisure battery in that powers the shed... It's only the first crank in the morning.
Really, it's been like it 4 years! I'm not going to rush out and change it, just in case... they ain't cheap!

That's the issue I think... The old packaging might be cheaper.. The ones in that I found in store now are all new packaging hence the full price!

This is not entirely true. The CTEK chargers/conditioners have a recondition mode for sulphated/deeply discharged batteries.
I'm not saying that if a battery is truly knackered that it will get it working but it may well work for some and I have heard several people say it has got their battery working and therefore paid for itself.
Not too dissimilar from what you are attempting to do now ... but failing dismally to achieve

If more people STOPPED buying overpriced Chinese imports then prices would drop to reasonable levels.
If they were selling at £55 then it would only have cost them around £15 at the most. So at £5 they have not lost a lot.
