Alright fine. It's all subjective, but I'd consider it low to average, as I have Wifi at home and at work, and 90% of my mobile browsing is social media, the web and very minimal video use. So for argument's sake I guess you're right in that it's not far off the average smartphone user really.
Either way, the trend of having fancy, very expensive phones with ridiculous data limits is pretty frustrating and restrictive of a device you obviously spent money on because you want to use it.
The phone companies know exactly what they are doing chucking a tonne of minutes and texts at people these days. Because hardly anyone uses any of it.

The problem is once you go over your data limit the charges are ridiculous. Gifgaff and idmobile from car phone sell capped plans. Better get those than allowing the network to send a ridiculously high bill, something they really enjoy

This. Ridiculous statement.
Just because some people hammer out 20GB a month doesn't mean 2GB is low usage. I'd say 2GB is average, certainly not low.

I think you meant to respond to Rory Joe.
But while we're on the subject I hardly use any data, I do all my downloading over wireless and just use my data bundle for casual browsing, Whatsapp when I'm out and about and Waze. I get a Gig a month and probably don't use half that.

I've had the Nexus 4 and 5 so I suppose I could be considered a fanboy. I bought a Nexus 6 when the Google price error lowered it to £305 for a short while, I like the phone but the placing of the volume buttons is a complete pain, whenever you pick the phone up or place it in the cradle you cannot seem to avoid altering the volume (same with my wife's Moto), the volume rocker falls right where you'd normally hold a phone, there's an app to get round it but it shouldn't need an app to get round the poor design. With this in mind I was interested to see if the rocker would be moved on the latest range, from what I can see it has not so maybe anyone thinking of getting one should get to grips with if first to see how it feels in the hand.
On a side note has anybody seen or tried the Wileyfox range of phones? They seem to be the natural successor to the Nexus range now that their prices are drifting upwards. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has experienced these phones.

I'm sitting in fence waiting to see December deals. like the S5 will drop, S6 will get lower. I was looking into the LG G4 but why so many haters of it?
I can't justify so called upgrading from my nexus 5 32gb to the Nexus 5x, maybe I'll go nexus 6p, confused :/

Do people get by on 1gb of data a month nowadays?

Ridiculous data allowance. So sick of networks giving ridiculous call and text allowances and offering paltry data limits. I'd classify myself as quite a low data user and I'm still clearing 2gb with ease. If you have a nice phone like this, you're going to want to use it for what it was intended.

I got a quote from id mobile about 6 months ago. They proceeded to lose all of my personal data to hackers. I've still not been told how or when they are going to try to make things right, I'm surprised they're still trading. Buyer beware but I would not touch them with a barge pool, amatuer operators.

works out at £7.50ish for the contract per month for 12 months after you subtract google's rrp for the phone. Pretty good tbh. Who do iD use for signal? o2?

First bit of math I did...should have just read your post.
Not an amazing steal as the tariff pretty much matches the price you pay when you take off the RRP.
But with the cashback, free chromecast audio and being able to spread the cost over 12 months its a good deal.

Although is probably should be compared it the RRP, id mobile are carphone warehouse, and they themselves are doing it SIM free for £299. So it works out £12.50pm for the minutes/text/data, you can do better.
Still a good deal if you can't afford to buy outright though.

Only go with the 5X if you absolutely cannot deal with the 6inch form factor. The Nexus 6p is miles better than the 5x at only only a fraction of the price more. Personally I find both phones to be ugly, and if I was getting a new phone, would choose the Z5 compact/regular (or the OnePlus Two if you're on a budget).

Good if you get signal on Three.
Alternatively you can buy it sim free £299 from CPW, add a 30-day sim only deal from Tesco Mobile (£12.50 a month, 1GB, 500 minutes, 5000 texts, 4G included. Backed by O2) for £449 or Sainsburys Mobile (£10 a month,1GB, 500 minutes, 5000 texts 3G only. Backed by Vodafone) for £419.
EDIT: actually you can get a Three 12 month contract for £11 (1gb data, 600 minutes, unlimited texts) total cost £431.

The 6P is £439 - £90 more than the 32Gb 5x on CPW, which is 25% more.
But I think we'll see price drops on these phones.

That's strange as I've found them very good everywhere I go (the only issue I use to have was inside, but this has been sorted out by their 800mhz 4G most of the places I go now).
Still can't be good for everyone.

I believe they use Three as a carrier and I've found them to be very good.
Worth checking if ID can use Three's 800mhz 4G band that they enabled a few weeks ago and also the SuperVoice (voice over LTE) as Three's 3G and 4G signal is not very good indoors some places on the usual higher frequency they use and I believe Three's signal booster and also their InTouch calling over WiFi will not work as well with ID mobile?
Good deal for a good phone though.
