You don't need an NUS card for Amazon Prime Student - I swapped over to it the other day and got a partial refund on my previous 1 year subscription (which was nice). I just had to enter my student email address online, to which they emailed a confirmation email to that address with a click through link......I'm not a NUS member.

Also in basic terms how to do everything, before i used my uni email address and it was straight forward

Here's one for 4 quid: https://www.gogroopie.com/deal/uy3izid71/Introduction_to_Microsoft__New_Features__Online_Course

You buy the 'voucher' from GoGroopie, input the voucher code on eCareers's website, and they'll enrol you as an online student shortly afterwards. You'll get instructions from GoGroopie and eCareers respectively.

Then go to the NUS Extra website, tell them you're a student of eCareers, and follow the straightforward instructions.

Once you receive your NUS Extra card, scan the front of it and send it to [email protected] from the e-mail address associated with your Amazon.co.uk account. Within a few hours you'll be given a link to sign up for Amazon Student without needing an educational email address.

Yes, thats it. But the amazon discount is only 6 months free amazon student prime with 5% off certain products. Before you could just register for 5% off without having amazon student prime.

Hi,
can anyone tell me what information is actually printed on the card.

Reason being, i was considering joining local council run leisure centre gym via this method, but on the website they stipulate only full time students are eligible for the discount.
Does it state full/part time, and the college/uni name on the card?

mycroft jones to haritori
13 Oct 15 #143
This is probably true. NUS Extra isn't strictly speaking a proof of student status and I expect they negotiate the deals based on the number of card holders so it's in their interest to sign up as many people as possible. It may be worth adding on a year's Gourmet Club for £3.99 too if you think you would use it.

What else ya got?

Well firstly and coincidently my actual degree is in English. I'm now studying law and if you start working on definitions it is important to define every aspect of the statement. Not just the elements that suit you.

So now we know how Amazon defines a student.

How do they define 'full time?' Also 'part time?'

How do they define education?

You could then argue that the open university offering degrees online over a non defined time period does not equate to being a student.

Thousands of people will disagree with you.

However I think it is important to note that Amazon. The King of your definitions are accepting people from this thread as meeting their definition of student.

So... What else ya got?

Lol I love the self righteous student comments. Hard up, in a budget, struggling...

Yet have a look at a Saturday night, pubs, clubs and bars full of students spending 100 quid in a night without having a second thought.

Then live on beans on toast for a week screaming poverty. Rest assured though they will be out next Saturday night.

As a 'grown up' I wish I could have 400 sheets a month for drinking. And I think I'm being reserved about the cash spent!

As far as cheating the system. You don't have to be in a university to be a student. And let's be honest, people are paying a few quid to become students and gets few discounts. There are plenty (please note NOT all) of students out there who have just went to further education because they fancy a few more years before entering the work force.

Not all students are trying to further their careers. Remember before you preach about poor students a lot of us have already played that card and know the truth

Student as defined by Amazon is a person in full or part time education undergraduate study. The sign up asked for your year of study and graduation date.
A £9 linguaphone course is not undergrad, full time or part time, has no years of study, and does not result in graduation.

They do check.may not be straight away because this is automated system but the checks are done by a person later on for new sign ups people renewing they tend to allow 3-5 years before re check.

Its dangerous trying to scam it because you have to use your real details so its a big gamble plus its very easy for them now to look peoples education records up not like old days having to contact the place of study by mail it's on on a main system now.

I think someone needs to post a new deal. From reading the comments the main thing that keeps coming up is that you now can get Amazon Prime and student discounts with an Nus card. Previously this was not the case, Amazon would require an ac.uk email address.

Now it seems Amazon has done Uturn saying a picture of the Nus card is acceptable. From previous deals on here there seems to be a lot of people out there with Nus cards but not so much the ac.uk. They will now benefit from this.
vfxuk
7 Oct 15 #83
Are you instead suggesting people should act to fraudulently gain discounts and services they are not entitled to use? Just how exactly do you plan on correctly entering your academic level of study, place of study and graduation year when you are using a £9 liguaphone language course?
It's aimed at students on a limited budget, not greedy grownups who want to play the system to their own advantage.

Agree - 'question', 'know', 'because', 'couldn't HAVE', and a few missing full stops and commas should do it.

Hi guys trying to use the secretsave discount code but doesn't come off, giving an error message. Has it stopped working or maybe an issue using my phone browser, thanks.

Thanks for the Amazon info! Been hoping there was a way to get the NUS card working for it

Just emailed them and will wait and see.

Got this card before primarily for spotify - nice to get some other use out of it

The code provided by the livingsocial website may not be valid on eCareers until up to three days after payment - apparently they deliver the codes over rather than it being automated.

Minor inconvenience if you're trying to sort it quickly. Mine isn't going through yet.

Good deal when it all goes through, though. I used to save a fortune on my old student card, so to have it again would be awesome.

wrong! I sent a picture last week of my NUS card to Amazon, and had it validated. Amazon will send you an email so you can subscribe to prime as a student without a .ac.uk account.

Very Hot Deal

PS Voucher never worked when I signed up, £9 for a year of Spanish and £12 for a NUS card, fine by me

This is a deal to get a NUS card if you are not a student. THE NUS card will get you access to Amazon Prime Student, Spotify and Groceries as the OP mentions. There are other discounts you can get with this card.

To get the card you need to:
1. Buy the deal on Living Social and then register on the e-careers website. There is a promo code mentioned in an earlier post to bring the cost down
2. Purchase the NUS card (using the e-careers details) and wait for this to arrive.

If you want Amazon Student Prime, you need to be a student which Amazon verify either using a .ac.uk address or proof of a NUS card which you send to them to the address the OP mentions.

Hope I got that right.

If you don't have an college email you can send an email to them including a picture of your nus card and they'll verify it and your in. I've just done it. Plus if you get refer some1 and they sign up in 7 days you'll get £5 credit on your account.

I'm pretty sure that Amazon Student requires a valid .ac.uk or evidence of a university course. They don't just accept an NUS card as proof.
