Which would be better for 1080p gaming, this or a MSi gtx 960 2gb which is £160 at Amazon? I have an i5 4690k and a budget of around £200 to spend on the GPU. Any suggestions?

Depends on your powers supply. The 960 will be more power efficent.

Overclockers also selling the 780 gaming edition for £179.99, 970 similar performance  If you could stretch to 240 they have the 780ti which performs close to the 980. All 3 will trump at 1080p!

TBH if you want to spend 200 quid.... add in a little more and get a 970 instead.

The GTX 770 is the more powerful card, the GTX 960 will get better driver support over a longer period.

Do you need GPU processing in your software, is it something you'll take advantage of? and does it support CUDA? If not get a much cheaper card and invest the money in a RAM upgrade and faster storage such as an SSD. Also check out this thread, which is 4 years old but still relevant info >
OK. So gtx 780Ti or gtx 970 for 1080p gaming and why? System is currently i5 4690k, MSI Z97 mobo, evga 750w gold PSU, Samsung evo 850 250gb SSD and WD 1TB HDD and Phantom 410 Case . Thanks.

they're a bit of overkill imho fro 1440p yes by all means but for 1080p on ultra not convinced they're needed this will be a sub 60fps card around 45-60 at ULTRA levels on most modern games. If you want guaranteed then spend the extra money. Personally I have an r9 285 for now and it chews through ultra at around 45-60 if I was a professional gamer where those extra fps mattered or can always dial back to high which normally is fine for 60FPS

The 780Ti is overkill for 1080, it wont use half its power. The 770 would be a far better choice but take into consideration the price, Overclockers were doing silly prices for their ranges so have a look there.
[I have this card with a 4670k and it eats anything I have thrown at it 1920x1080 @ 144Hz.]

An SSD can save time, especially if you're a heavy user, every second lost adds up and if you're working saving/loading files it will save time.
