PC gamers are in this thread arguing as to whether £25 is a good deal or not, whilst console gamers will give 1000 heat to any deal for this game under £40. But PC gaming is expensive, right?!

An interesting perspective. I assume you have a fast internet connection, as money doesn't seem to be a big factor in your decision making, so you could easily download 40GB in 1-2 hours on Steam.
It's worth noting that the £14.35 you save (compared to the current Steam price) would pretty much cover the cost of the Fallout 4 Season Pass, on CDKeys. That said, each to their own.

CDkeys will send pre-order keys 48-24 hour before the actual release time, I contacted them today. So you can still pre-load the game just like brought from steam.

Upgrades are expensive. Console gamers upgrade once a decade while pc gamers upgrade components(that often can cost as much as a new console) every 2-3 years on average.

PC Games as you can see are not expensive (or not as expensive as console games I should say), but our systems do cost more than consoles.
I built a system several years back for about £1000, have kept the graphics card updated so the total cost is an evolving one - but the system displays graphics far superior to that of XB1 or PS4 (I have an XB1, add yes the PS4 is graphically superior to XB1) - just google "skyrim, enb" images @ 1920x1080, in fact here you go....
bear in mind both games (and probably the images) are likely many years old
GTA IV - 2008
Skyrim - 2011
however the games are so cheap - plus if you really want to one can download torrents or other web sources to trial the full game before purchase (I don't but I am certain some folk do)
Fall Out 4 - £25/£30 versus £40/£45
if you're going to buy tons of games for your console you will probably bridge the gap between initial outlay
before anyone asks - when I do play PC I tend to use XB1 controller for all games except Battlefield (use mouse and keyboard, joystick and/or controller)

Yeah, wish I never bought this PC. Now I have to spend £25 to play the best version of everything.
Serious note, the only thing holding me back is when they'll send out CD Keys. Plus the reliability of the site. I know it's popular but I've seen some issues with them in the past.
I got a PS4 a couple of weeks ago. Played Until Dawn (finished it) and now I've got Bloodborne rented. After that, it'll be an expensive paper weight for a while.
The only reason I buy playstations and xboxes is for the games I can't play on a PC. But then, that frustrates me because I'd rather play those on a PC as well.

Never heard people on here saying the games themselves are expensive to buy. In any case, aren't the arguments over the retailer, and methods to get it cheaper? Seems a lot easier to get PC downloads cheaper than it is on the PS4/X1 marketplace

Think a graphics card is going to be a little cheaper tbh. If you have the PSU for it, get an AMD 280X, very good value for money.

The Xbox one can be had pretty cheap.
But so can a 960, which I'm sure will be capable of running fallout 4.
It all depends on what you'd rather play on. You could easily upgrade the PC for a cheaper price than the Xbox one but in the long run I'm sure the XO will be supported for a longer time than the GFX card.

I seriously regret buying an Xbox one, just gathering dust since I got the PC. I'm not even sure I want Halo 5 after the debacle that was and is the Master Chief collection. If you are going to get a console my advice is to get a PS4. The Star Wars beta ran beautifully on it at 900p, looked and played a lot like the 4k I was getting on the PC.

Not having to pay for Xbox Live/PS+ adds to a good amount of savings on PC's side.
Selling your old GPU will often bring in a decent amount of money back that you paid for it.

If you have a good connection, get this deal, save £15ish. Download on the day (or someone says they send the keys out before release maybe) play on release day.
If you have bad Internet (I feel for you, I do not miss those days) then spend a bit more, pre download, play on release day.
Sorted. I'd rather pay less and wait a couple hours of downloading.

commenter14 to JerzyBulovski
13 Oct 151#31
So it's 2nd hand, you still have to pay ~£30 a year to be online, games are much more expensive, you're forced to buy a new console in a few years (this generation isn't going to last much longer!), you get no freedom, there are far fewer games... Need I go on? Also a 750W PSU is enough to run most SLI setups, and certainly all single-GPU setups. I "only" have 600W in my GTX 970 rig.
JerzyBulovski

If it's below min spec, then you probably want to hold off getting the game until you upgrade (at which point the game will be cheaper and will have had the inevitable billion bug fixes to make the game stable/playable).

If you were to upgrade your internet connection, then you would see faster download speeds in Steam. Steam isn't a bottleneck when it comes to downloads.
The point is, for someone based in London (like Stanios appears to be), where money isn't a big factor, there is hardly any reason why downloading 40GB on Steam should take more than 1-2 hours.
As for the price, saying other PC games have sold for £25 is a moot point.
EDIT: For clarification, when talking about bottlenecks of digital downloads, compare PSN to Steam to get where I am coming from.

I do hope you weren't suggesting that kind of blistering speed is down to Steam. Takes me about a day if I was to download that much over Steam.
As for the deal I take it everyone is voting "Hot for Fallout", seeing as £25 is far from a special, or unique price for a new PC title in 2015. "Can you tell me where it's cheaper?". No, but that still doesn't make £25 special.
