I think it's more a problem with gloss than emulsion. I painted my daughters house doors in winter and they took more than two days to dry ! (It was Dulux, by the way. Not cheap rubbish)

The homebase deals includes a much bigger variety of colours - including all the 'natural hints' or whatever they call them. The B&Q is just bog standard emulsion

Yes that's why I said depending on colour. For me personally B&Q is better as I was about to buy emulsion for the walls from Homebase. Then noticed this being posted, just look at both offers and what you need to get best deal for your requirement, both are great deals.

two for £18 at Wilko for 2.5l tins, so slightly cheaper if you need more than one.

I recommend speaking to a Qualified Painter and decorater, advice from experienced professionals is worth far more than the general tittle tattle given out on these pages. I never buy these "Cheap"Paints anymore, without doubt they always require more than one coat to cover, even over an undercoat, they are poor imitations of the real Good stuff the trade can get hold of . I paid a premium for Dulux trade paint from the Dulux store, it covers in one coat, doesnt dry too quickley,it doesnt stink , and leaves a fantastic finish and depth of colour and saved me so much time when I recently decorated my Hall landing and Stair well.

Some would argue that Dulux is 'expensive rubbish' these days; I was one of the millions who painted with their Pure Brilliant White gloss which quickly turned yellow,

Speak as you find of course - I have never had Dulux "go yellow". I've had others go yellow - when you haven't painted it for a few years, it does go greyer but all paints do.
Crowns OK too. never much tried any others for years

Maybe you didn't hear about it. It was a specific problem of formulation which Dulux admitted to; it goes yellow where it's not exposed to light. No doubt they would have replaced the paint if had complained but unless it came with a painter for a couple of weeks I wasn't going that route!

There's a reason it's this cheap. It doesn't cover properly, marks as soon as you touch it, and the slightest bit of moisture loosens the paint and it comes off the wall. If you're going to paint something, you may as well do it properly.
