My mate who is 20 has one of these and no one accepts it as ID. clubs, pubs and shops all tell him its got to be Drivers licence or Passport.

i think you just made up the bit about breaking the law. i think the police have probably got better things to do than try and help you get into a club.

Barclay's bank wants a form of photo id ie passport or driving license, which I don't have, after speaking with Barclay's CS the advisor recommend the citizen-card! Does anybody on this thread have personal experience of having a bank like Barclay's accepting this form of photo id to open a account?

Didn't know these could be used in banks I've tried to open a account in the past and I've been told that my provisional doesn't count as I've passed the age of 21 despite me saying it's all I need for my bike licence they said I need a proper drivers licence

these used to be accepted until a influx of fakes came along and now there not widely accepted on nights out.

If someone doesn't accept this as ID I'm sure they are not breaking the law.

I don't have a drivers license or passport and needed to withdraw winnings out of an online casino and they wanted photo I.D so asked if they'd take this if I got one and they said no so it's no good for that either.

A good form of age ID for under 17s e.g Cinema Entry, lottery however when I turned 18 I found clubs and pubs wouldn't accept it and smaller retailers don't accept it. I just bought a provisional licence which I now use as ID. Annoying because it is supposed to be government backed but like I say good for the under 18s

Just to clear these things up...this is a VALID form of ID in the UK. Unless the person you present the card to has a high certainty of fraud then it must be accepted.(If they think it is fake or someone elses, members of the SIA and some other bodies are required by law to not hand you back your ID...) Oh and on another note...the PASS security features are still one of the few that have not been able to be copied and reproduced - with zero evidence of any fakes of these existsing year on year since release.

A couple years ago these cards were nothing more than a gimmick, however the government copped onto this and made the main involved bodies lawfully required to accept them.

ALL police forces accept this as a form of ID, as does every single registered security firm and any business requiring a council-applied license to trade items to persons over a certain age or within licensing conditions. Refusal to accept a PASS scheme card as proof of ID at any of the covered trades will land the venues/shops in extreme trouble if reported.

If on a night out and a doorman refuses to accept it as ID, simply make him aware if he does not accept it in the next 30 seconds you will be happy to grab a police officer to confirm your details with him and explain which law the doorman is breaking in the process! Various door companies in Newcastle now make it a sackable offence to reject a valid form of ID...

For Irish passport holders, €35 now buys a passport card. This is a government issued credit card sized ID card valid for EEA/Swiss travel.

This card is a VALID form of ID. Pass accreditation is issued by the government if places don't accept it. Report them.

I use mine when I go out clubbing/to bars and for ID in banks and everything and I've never once been turned away with it.

I'm a pub licensee and I've never heard of this. Can't find on the site the name of the body issuing it but it seems I'm entitled to get one and to witness an application despite not being a UK citizen. The name implies proof of UK citizenship but it seems it's nothing of the sort.
I think I'll get an Irish Passport Card fo €35 which is valid for travel within the EU.

anything with a pass logo is classed as ID. So one of these cards, driving licenses or passports. I work in a high street bookmakers and that's what we get told. its just some people are unfamiliar with the card.

Provisional license is just £34 (I understand that this is 34 times more). As far as I know is accepted everywhere and is also a proof of address.

When you join you are encouraged to report anywhere that refuses to accept it - which is by its design kind of to the Home Office/Trading Standards too :wink:

Hello I'd like to clear up what this card is.

Its an I.d. card which is a member of Pass scheme http://www.pass-scheme.org.uk/card-suppliers/

Pass is endorsed by the Home Office and Trading Standards and Police and its all about stopping under age sales of alcohol, cigs and other lovely things you wouldn't want youngsters getting their mits on like very large sharp knifes etc. Other than allowing a youngster to prove they can buy contraband it won't be much use for anything else.Obviously if you have access to the fountain of youth your sure to need one.

This is really good, very helpful if you have young looking children or disabled children.

So that's one chain of cheapo pubs that supposedly accepts it as ID.

I suspect in reality the places taking this sort of PASS card are going to be low level (pubs, your local newsagent, etc). Rock up to your nightclub with one and they'll no doubt laugh you all the way back to the cab you fell out of and claim to refuse entry on some other condition if you try and press the point about this "official" PASS card.

These are a good to have for teenagers who want to watch 15 rated films in the cinema and aren't old enough to apply for a provisional license :smiley:

This card is useless. I paid £30 for one of these and I was still refused entry to bars and clubs. A bouncer even told me that they weren't accepted because they're too easy to counterfeit.

I even complained to the company that distributes Citizen Cards and they accused ME of not being granted entry to bars or clubs because "I was probably too drunk or aggressive". Absolutely disgusting customer support. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Even at this price.

In my experience these don't really work... bouncers/shopkeepers often refuse but a good deal nevertheless

Heat for great price but sadly my kids tell me they are just not accepted anywhere (Worcester area) they go so they have to still use driving licence.

But it's the size of my driving licence, has a serious looking picture and a shiny silver hologram thing on it!! How can it NOT be official??

A lot of my friends used to have these a few years ago and they were useless, never accepted because you could rub the numbers off and replace them to fake your age

Highly doubt they're going to be of any use now either, best to use a provisional (cheaper to replace than a passport) or for those lucky enough grow a beard and never get ID'd again

Good deal if it's accepted op.It's ridiculous having to carry your passport on a night out.I myself am always stopped and asked for id being so young looking and beautiful as I am.

My friend tried to use hers to get into a club. They let her in but the head bouncer hand-wrote her a note that she has to produce every time she goes to the club to get in. It's annoying but quite sweet at the same time!

Get laughed at around here trying to get into a club with one.

My friend had one. She couldn't use it anywhere as its not a valid form of ID. If a place accepts it, think yourself lucky.

They're supposed to accept anything that has the "pass" logo on as that's some form of wizardy that 's apparently hard to forge. I know where I work Citizen Cards are accepted for ID.

By what measure is this "official"? I can't see anywhere that is gas government backing.
