Highlights
- One of the slimmest and lightest 13.3” laptops in the world
- Premium all-aluminium construction
- Intel® Core™ M processing delivers great performance without compromising battery life
- Full HD screen makes for highly-detailed films, games and everyday browsing
Premium portable computing
The Zenbook UX305 is just 12.3 mm thick and weighs a mere 1.2 kg, making it one of the slimmest laptops in the world.
Despite its size, it isn't at all fragile thanks to the all-aluminium construction. Plus, the clearly premium spun cover gives a discrete and refined look that fits into any professional situation.
All-new Intel® technology
One of the reasons the Zenbook UX305 is so thin is that it's powered by the new Intel® Core™ M processor. It's much more compact than other processors and requires no large cooling fans, so can be intelligently placed inside the chassis to completely maximise space.
The Core™ M is designed to deliver power when you need it and efficiency when you don't, so you can enjoy high performance computing when working and a longer battery life when simply browsing the web or chatting to friends.
Cutting-edge storage
On-board file storage comes courtesy of a solid-state drive (SSD). Much smaller and faster than a regular hard drive, an SSD speeds up booting, loading and helps deliver smooth computing from the second you turn on.
High definition media
From quickly editing a photo to streaming HD films, you can expect beautifully detailed visuals thanks to the Full HD screen.
Bang & Olufsen ICEpower audio makes sure your films and music sound great, whether you're listening through via headphones or the built-in speakers.
Windows 10
If you're an experienced Windows user you'll be pleased with the return of the familiar Start button and menu, while everyone will benefit from the many new and exciting features designed to make accessing what matters to you quick and easy.
Windows 10 features the new Edge browser, which gives you a much bigger viewing area for enjoying your online content at its best. You can write notes directly onto web pages and share them with anyone - perfect for students or business.
Working between different software or keeping an eye on social media while you work has never been easier; you can now snap up to four apps to any location on the screen for effortless multitasking. You can even create individual desktops for specific projects and tasks.
Whatever you're doing, Windows 10 makes your PC work the way you want.
Beautifully designed and built from premium materials, the Asus Zenbook UX305 13.3” Laptop is ideal for high-end computing on the go.

With the release of Windows 10 a lack of touch screen on laptops isn't really an issue IMO - all personal preference however.
With any politics, marketing and public relations the most sad and dangerous are what is left out in their blurb, the so called economical with the truth and the art of saying lots of sound bites which have no actual delivery of action or benefits. Back to topic, this is a great price and the core M fanless CPU is great as I got a similar unit for more money, Dell Latitude 7350. I find backlit keyboard most useful in a dim lit area plus touch screen adds to faster actions and convenience. The specs does say it has backlit keyboard.

True i have mine disabled (not this model) but a backlit keyboard is nice - bit of a shame on such a nice device.

This easytradeup looks to be valid for any laptop purchase?
That may mean you could use this along side the HP tradin and cash back deals that are floating around?
Anyone confirm?

I was considering this laptop when it was first out.
Then I got a Dell XPS 13 9333 with i7 and 256GB SSD for £400.
But for £600 this is great. £100 cashback is a add on.
I tried them in John Lewis the last time. It is thinner than any other 13 inch, and very lightweight too. The build quality is good as all Zenbook are.
I like the screen is matte. I do not like glossy. However, my XPS 13 is glossy. The colour is better on XPS 13.
backlit keyboard would be better. The feel/touch on the Zenbook keyboard is not great, they just feel like a normal laptop with short depth. The XPS 13 keyboard feels much better.

It's not clock speed that you should be looking at given the market segment that this thin / light laptop sits in. It's the 4.5W power draw, 9hr battery, the fact that it's thin, light, aluminium and ultra portable, and silent (fanless).

Do they still support Windows 7 downgrades? Or is it just a forced update to the malware they call "Windows 10"?
Does anyone on here actually read about what's going on with windows and the privacy nightmare they're walking into with this "free update" Microsoft is dishing out?

You have the option to turn all of the things you refer to off when installing, and I imagine they can be switched off later if missed.
Have you something in particular to hide?

Please post your browsing history on every device you own, install a permanently connected webcam to broadcast from your bedroom and let me know your sexual habits. What's the matter? You have nothing to hide, don't you?
In short, you will be forced to download it, you will eventually be forced to install it, there is no way to actually disable the privacy nightmare from phoning home and these privacy intrusions are being backported to previous windows versions.

I'm with weltysparrow on this one. I'm not fooled when something is offered for "free" with some shiny baubles added. It amazes me how so many people don't seem to care about Microsoft allowing helping themselves to all this information. As the product is shiny and free the masses don't care about anything else.

And yet you haven't told me everything about your personal life. So you obviously know in your mind their is a dividing line between what you want known to the wider world and what you want kept in your own head.
If you think that none of this could ever come back and affect you go and talk to people who lived under the Stasi or the Soviets. They had a file on every person in their states and if it any moment you decided to do something against the party line you would get a knock at the door. The least that would happen would be threats of release of sensitive information, the worst would be you and your family to the gulag.
Both those organisations had nowhere near even 1% of the information on their populations compared to what these corporations have now.
So you say "but I have nothing to hide". Do you not? Your wife? Your children? Nothing that could ever be leveraged against you to get your compliance?
I agree with you, I have recently bought the new 12" MacBook that is a Core M, fanless etc. I was primarily pointing out that not only Apple know how to charge for these things.

Installed windows 10 on a 4 year old sony vaio (ssd so performance is good, it's just the laptop looking and sounding worse for wear with all the use its had).
Thought I'd try windows 10 as I was on 7 (8 was worse than dog ****), 10 is massively improved in my opinion, but I've thrown in the towl and ordered a top spec mac mini. Goodbye soul. Spent all weekend in a Currys megastore trying out laptops, the money it costs for the better spec windows laptops there is noway I'd spend it on one when macbooks even the air, makes them look rubbish. Please read this if you have any intention of not being a moron at some point in your life. Don't be too proud to learn as ignorance is certainly not bliss, especially when Microsoft is in the frame.
Microsoft nefarious policies breakdown for those who might be interested:
Windows 10 still phones homes despite privacy settings
Windows 10 privacy policy
Windows telemetry rolls out
Windows 10 forced downloads
Windows 10 forced "upgrades"
In short, you will be forced to download it, you will eventually be forced to install it, there is no way to actually disable the privacy nightmare from phoning home and these privacy intrusions are being backported to previous windows versions.

These things may seem paranoid now because no one is overtly acting on them. Until of course we enter into another panic about "national security" and "terrorism" and governments decide anyone they don't like the look of can be chucked on a plane and sent off for torture. I suppose that may be OK because it only happened to muslims though.
They are building 1984, all someone has to do at some point is flip the switch to turn it on, and it will all be in the name of protecting you.
Thank god there are some people out there who actually give a damn enough to care on your behalf because without them we are screwed.
The specifications and reviews I have seen all stated no backlit.
It is a refurbished with no operating system. The one I received is quite new, cannot see any marks.
It was priced as £325 + delivery + VAT = £402
The price on their website is excluding VAT.
