No question, OP's deal is better.
This one is FHD and i5.
Although the i3-5157U on your link is as powerful as this i5.
But FHD makes a big difference.

btw if anyone is experiencing slow boot ups try updating the intel display driver. That has now given me near instant starts even without a SSD drive installed.

I went to but this today but after a quick play I decided against it. The screen is bad, really bad. I had to check the settings but they were correct. Shame as the specs are decent.

I know what you mean, it looks a bit dusty/hazy to me, although I've not tried any films on it and it's all standard stock at the moment.

You are talking out of your rectum, I bought this laptop last night and I can't hear a thing. It did make a fair noise while reading discs, but that's to be expected.

Some laptops don't charge to 100% it has something to do with prolonging the life of the battery, I am not saying this is the case with yours but might be worth looking for a setting

Not quiet understand your question.
Just go for Samsung Evo 850 250GB. It has reduced price recently.
It comes with migration software, really easy to transfer your system and files. You do need a sata to usb adapter or removable hard drive enclosure to do the transfer.
Although the i3-5157U on your link is as powerful as this i5.
But FHD makes a big difference.

Bought one from tescos last year. It's a fast, quiet machine. One word of warning, the trackpad is horrid, well, the buttons actually, very noisy click and just feels cheap.
Overall, a good laptop, I just hate the trackpad.
alared to black knight
17 Oct 15#41
Well they must have improved the trackpad because I was over PC World today and tried it out, very quiet.
Couldn`t hear the left/right click, unlike the Dell I had to send back recently because of the racket with the trackpad.
Anyone who NEEDS a new laptop, this is a great find for sub £400.

i5-5200U is a dual core with 4 threads. Would rather pay the extra and get a proper quad core with an ssd.Still good price for a laptop.
Nexusfifth to malachi
17 Oct 15#39
And I would trade a quad core i5 for a dual core in a laptop any day, much better battery life and unless you do something very specific no benefit at all. Very often the single core of the dual core i5's are more powerful than single cores of quad cores and many many applications don't do multithreading so you actually get a better performance. (Note that benchmarks test both single core and multi core scores...)
Added benefit is better battery life than a quad core, although admittedly I don't see this with this machine.
I don't quite see what they did to make the battery life so bad, (well apart from a poor battery but that may even be upgradeable in time).

The joke is that some people post just that resolution on low end budget laptop deals, as a complaint. So the fact that this has 1080p apes that complaint but in a positive way.
Intel HD Graphics 5500. A fairly low end capable GPU, will play games ok but not a 1080p gaming GPU for many titles (in reference to the panel being 1080p in this laptop).
fishmaster
17 Oct 15#29
This is almost how it should be, that CPU is almost redundant in the specs, just about any laptop can cope with general tasks. Intel know this and their i3,i5,i7 monikers serve little reference to the actual CPU power. People see i5 and that's their point of reference; i3=low end power, i5 = mid range power and i7= high end power when in fact all teirs in the U range are almost the same CPU.
Sub £300 FHD has happened a number of times (not with i5 to my knowledge).

17 Oct 15#24
My spectre 360 has this CPU, actually pretty capable, and GPU let's me place most of my steam library inc GTAIV. Surprised at the 4hr max battery, I can squeeze out 10-11 hours during a work day and that's in an ultrabook. An SSD is a must in today's age though IMO.

Under £500 for this spec after fitting an SSD in it, plus you get a spare 500gb drive for external storage if required  Seems pretty good to me! Just wonder how good the screen / trackpad are.

You might get one if it's second hand, but not a new one for £300, unless there is a glitch, but that's unlikely. This price is great for a new 1080p one though, so voted hot.
