Definitely not of interest to me. I could never go back to a laptop that charges via proprietary brick . I also like the 1kg weight of the T100, and the IPS touchscreen.
It also plays Asphalt 8 without lag, & renders 1080p video in real time. So it does everything I need.
The Thinkpad is a great bit of kit though. Just no use to me

Yes not bad, but note its VGA rather than HDMI in case that's important to you.

Good recommendation. The battery life isn't as good, and it really needs an SSD upgrade. The screen is also pretty dire on the X220's (unless it is an IPS one).
BUT, the i5 vPRO is very capable...and the build quality is superb.

I am after a laptop for my son who just started secondary school...will this be good for him?
Would recommend this instead - it's a refurb business laptop (meaning it was v. expensive new, good processor and pretty fast), small and very lightweight so very easy to carry around. Bought one recently from this seller for a teenager who loves it.

Yes and as I already said earlier in the thread If you run Windows 7 or 8 they can all be upgraded to Windows 10!

Try using a Windows 10 USB installer. Run the installer from within Windows 8.1. It'll take no more than 45 minutes (done it previously on my own T100)

I agree with everything you have just written....apart from the empty HDD bay in the keyboard dock.
I am almost certain that this is not the case.
Have you got any evidence to show that there is an empty HDD slot?

as i said, you end up with windows 10 home or pro.
if you had win 7 starter/home or 8/8.1/bing you get 10 home.
if you had win 7/8/8.1 pro/enterprise you get 10 pro.
'The good news here is that there’s actually no difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 with Bing for users...To change Windows 8.1 with Bing into “Windows 8.1 Without Bing,” all you have to do is open Internet Explorer and change your default search engine. You’re free to change your default web browser, too. You can also disable the system-wide Bing search integration and even uninstall all those full-screen Bing “Store apps,” if you like. You don’t even have to use a Microsoft account — you could even use a local user account and not touch any of Microsoft’s online services...Windows 8.1 with Bing doesn’t impose any limits on you, the computer user. It only prevents the computer manufacturer from changing the default search engine.'

Is Windows 10 upgrade available to Windows 8.1 with Bing? If available, what version of Windows 10 will be allowed for upgrade?

Windows 10 upgrades, you end up with windows 10 home or windows 10 pro.
I have a windows 7 starter (carp) netbook which is now a quite useable windows 10 wee pc.
I have a windows 8.1 bing tablet which is now a windows 10 tablet.
The Bing aspect was usually Bing as the default search engine (easily replaced) along with wimboot compression.
Windows 10 is still a little compressed, but the recoevry partition from 8.1 has been freed up.
Yes, this will update to windows 10.
you can also fit a hdd into the keyboard dock, there's an empty slot.

Yep, definitely best to double check all that you have just said - because it isn't based in reality
Windows 8.1 'with Bing' is just an accounting ruse that allows Microsoft to give away the Windows licences for free to sub 10.1" screen devices. It is a full and free version of Windows - and you can change the default search engine to Google...or whatever else.
& it fully upgrade to Windows 10 - have no fear!

I read a few times on a different thread (some months back... ) on a different 'Bing-powered' Windows 8.1 Tablet that you'd NOT be able to get the fullest version of Windows 10 on any 'Bing' enabled Tablet?, on account of the cheaper/inferior engine that is Windows Bing? (or something similar to that effect?), instead of it upgrading u to Windows 10 Pro or similar, you'll rather be upgraded to a 'Bing-powered' version Windows 10 instead?.
Any/all versions of Windows Bing from my understanding excludes so many upgradability &/or support mechanisms that of the other normal versions of Windows 8.x & Windows 10.
I'm assuming as to why Tablets with 'Bing' versions of Windows on it are a bit cheaper in the first place or something?, kinda rings to mind that of what Android Tablets now?, cheap & cheerful? (but Android having more support in this particular instance ... )
It may be worth double-checking all what I said though, to be 100% sure? (but I do recall reading on this Windows 'Bing' thing (give or take) about 4 or 5 separate times still?, so .....

Yes, it has a micro HDMI port.
I used my Z3740 powered T100 for almost two years as my only computer. I had it outputting to a 22" 1080p Dell monitor - and it was fantastic.
Unfortunately, the micro HDMI port has now failed (perhaps inevitable after the constant plugging/unplugging of the HDMI cable).

I did have one of these, but found the charging incredibly slow. Slow to the extent that you had to charge it up overnight as it couldn't cope with charging while you were using it! I tried 2 different ones but still had the same issue. On th epositive side is the inclusion of Microsoft Office - so if you need that it works out good value.

Keep in mind that you were likely using the Z3740 (original) version of this laptop, which came with the full licence of Office 2013....and also had the better processor.
As for the battery charging. Yep, it takes a long time during use. However, when it is switched off, it charges fairly quickly. The 9 or so hours of battery life also means I don't tend to need to charge it during the day. I just stick mine on charge over night.
As for the deal - the Z3735F processor is a bit long in the tooth now. The original Z3740 version of this tablet was better.
Best to wait around for a Cherry Trail powered 2 in 1 to come up.
