Good price, for a diminished franchise, from a woeful developer.
There is no need on God's beautifully rendered Earth to buy this game on release. Why take a gamble on something you know will be buggy, when you can wait a few months (I waited a year before playing Unity), and then you can; A) buy it heavily reduced from resellers and avoid giving money to UbiFail, and B) enjoy a game that's got a 15gb patch, but works properly.
And if the lack of multiplayer is a permanent feature, then it's just a stand-alone game, so who wants to play by themselves for £37 now, when you can play by yourself for £20 later....
Heat added for now though.

Quietly optimistic for this one.
Black flag was brilliant, and I'm praying they've learnt their mistakes from Unity. Got it off Bespoke for £33.95.

Its 900p and a slighly stable 30fps. Graphics are worsr than Unity but it runs better. Personally AC franchise should have ended years ago.

I'll probably get it when it's £20. I have WWE 2K16 coming next week so that'll tide me over until Fallout 4.
Yep, too much of a risk for a pre-order this one especially when you have likes of Halo 5 and Fallout 4 coming out in the next few weeks to spend your money on.
pauladam3954
19 Oct 15#16
the embargo on this game for reviews is Thursday a day before release, which says to me it's gotta be a lot better glitch wise especially than AC Unity, otherwise Ubisoft would of had the reviews after its release like they did with unity last year.
looking forward to this, especially with it being set in London and Jack the ripper DLC

A cynic would say they've deliberately waited until the pre-orders have been despatched before allowing any reviews...
dealhunter1233 to pauladam3954
19 Oct 15#23
To me it says the backlash from last year for the release day embargo and broken game forced them to put the embargo a day earlier (when people won't be able to cancel their pre-orders anyway so makes little difference) to ship a broken game with less of a backlash. Unfortunately this is the first AC game which has little going for it, at least the hype from Unity being the first next-gen exclusive AC game allowed it not to bomb. Heat anyway for those who want to play it on release day, but I'm pretty sure this will plummet in price quickly, even for a Ubisoft game.

Code works - would have got it but apparently you can't use GAME wallet credit for pre-orders, which is annoying!

Did anyone actually play unity at launch ? If so was it a broken mess ? or just the odd bug here and there like any other open world game ? I didn't but i do read a lot on forums and from what i remember a lot of the problems were only on PC. It was just media copy and pasting the same article for click bait and trolls who have never played the game blowing things out of proportion.
killie_lad to Adoom92
19 Oct 15#22
it was a complete mess honestly(PS4), I'm a massive AC fan, I was the person that enjoyed AC3 but Unity at launch was atrocious. once they stablised the framerate which was eyebleed territory and the glitches it was a good enough game altough pretty underwhelming. I wasn't going to get it on release but I managed to get the rooks edition for £33 so if it's like unity I'll be trading it in on day 1 and get my money back.
Ferrit to Adoom92

It was a stuttering mess.

The PS4 version was an absolute mess. The PC version's fps didn't dip even a fraction of the times it did on consoles.
zedlor to Adoom92
20 Oct 15#48
I had it on Xbox One, was basically unplayable - it was sub-30fps for the majority of what I could stomach to play. I will never pre order a Ubisoft game again (in fact, I don't pre-order the majority of games anymore).
It wasn't just on PC that the issues were seen, because I know that the PS4 also suffered the same fate.

You'd have to be pants-on-head stupid to pre-order this at any price on any platform.

Really struggling with this one, really want to play the game, mainly because it's set in London to be honest, Jack the Ripper DLC sounds awesome too, but also know that this price is gonna drop like no tomorrow!

Cheers for the input Killie_lad, fingers crossed this time xD
I generally am skeptical when people say how bugged games are, after playing a ton of games which were meant to be really buggy and played just fine.

I bought unity on release day but never actually got round to playing it like 3 weeks later and it was fine. Odd messed up cut scene but apart from that was perfectly fine. Think I must have played it after they released the gig update or whatever it was.

Strange to see Game selling new title for less than £59.99?? Either they have long last decided to be competitive. .or another AC has just bombed coz they know it's ****. Great price but I would wait to see if the software actually works prior to preorder.

Looks like my thoughts are being echoed, I want to play this game badly with it being set in London but you just know that it's going to drop like a stone in price based on the early streams which are struggling to show anything good apart from the location :disappointed:

With all the heavy hitters coming out in the next month there's no doubt its going to be £5 - 10 cheaper but if your looking to play this before they come out its a great price.
Do what I did last year. Wait until about christmas when it's dropped to £24.99 and buy a patched game that functions properly.
Adoom92
20 Oct 15#36
broken mess = funny bug , most open world games are filled with bugs like this.
veyrox to Adoom92
20 Oct 15#37
Most open world games aren't like that. Most AAA games that refused to be delayed are like that. Big difference.
All games have their little problems here and there, but the AC series has become a factory line of games that are released about 6 months too early in order to meet the holiday season. And they are playable, but if you went to see Star Wars this christmas and Daisy Ridley's face just randomly turned inside out and the lightsaber FX just completely disappeared during crucial scenes, and tie-fighters started flapping their wings like a bird, would you not be like "Why the hell have they released this before it was finished? I want my money back."
In the end, what you spend your money on is up to you. But I'm just saying I prefer to wait about 2 months (if that) and get it for much cheaper and in a finished state.
Adoom92
20 Oct 15#38
Most open world games aren't like that.
LOL type in any open world game on google followed by funny bugs and you will see them in many many games.
Terrible comparison, if your going to compare it to anything surely it has to be other open world games ?
I see what your saying and if its happening throughout the game then i would agree with you but calling it a broken mess from one bug is just ridiculous. Anyway i will find out for myself this Friday and post back with first impressions.

Played this at EGX and like others have said I'd just wait. Obviously it was a beta/demo but there was still alot of texture pop-in of the civilians and buildings in the distance etc. It looks identical to Unity gameplay wise other than it's set in London and you have a grapling hook. Noticed a few frame rate drops too when there are too many guards on the screen at once. There really hasn't been much hype for this game at all. Which doesn't bode well really. It's been overshadowed by Halo, Fallout, Star Wars Battlefront too which probably doesn't help either.

Great deal. Can you use the promotional code more than once if you put in separate orders? or is it only once per account. I played Unity and enjoyed the game I know it had a lot of negative feedback but the environment was big and detailed. Once the game was patched it worked fine. The only negative comments I would make are that the free running/climbing now requires no skill and is too easy.

For those that have pre-ordered it and find that it's a bug riddled mess, don't forget you have the right to return it to supplier for a full refund since the new law was passed.

Reviews mean nothing. COD also gets good reviews every year even though it gets even worse every year. People should know by know how corrupt the gaming industry is. Most reviewers are paid to give good scores even if a game is awful.
