Aldi fruit and veg does not keep. Rather spend more and get quality that won't go off after 2 days in the fridge

I have had the complete opposite experience - compared to Morrisons/Tescos/Asda I've always found it both tastier and much longer lasting.

I've been buying them for years and never had any problem with them keeping. As for quality, how do you think Aldi won the 'Grocer of the Year award for the last 3 years running? Maybe you need to check your fridge setting.

Look like all the Aldi PR team is here! From 39p to 59p, I might have to go back to Tesco. I hope Lidl is coming here soon. Long live competition.

Good that you contribute by posting offers but as usual this literally saves a few pence and is not worth the visit. Now Aldi have drummed up custom slightly the offers just get worst and worse

I don't think you understand the point of this site.
Chestnut mushrooms 250g
Asda and morrisons £1
Tesco 89p
Sainsburys 80p
Aldi 59p
A few pence saved means about a 25-41% saving at Aldi.

Do you think that people go to Aldi ONLY to buy their Super 6? There is plenty more to buy. If you don't shop there, how do you know what they have. As for 'now Aldi have drummed up custom slightly' think again! Its not 'Now' because they have been running special offers at all their stores all wherever they have them across the world for years, and certainly in the UK for at least the 18 years I have shopped there Further more, they have to drummed up custom 'slightly' by running special offers. They did it by getting a reputation for cheaper, better, and faster shopping, which allowed them to increase their UK profits by 300% last year while the Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury all went the other way. Aldi has the fastest staff in the busines too,and pays them the highest rates. No minimum wage workers there!.

Asparagus tips at 59p will be on my list. Re the other comments, the best way to shop and save bucketloads is if you have a variety of supermarket type shops all within shouting distance (like here!). We have everyone of them Lidl to Aldi to Sainsbury's to ...well, all except Asda, until now (they are just about to take over a closed Co-op, right next to Morri's and Aldi. Can't wait. Asda have got the Co-op petrol station too! Competition is the best thing for price reductions. Shop with loyalty, you'll save **** all. Shop at all and you'll save! I realise not everyone can do this, or have so many different shops in one area.
Lucky ol' us here!

Quite. Keep shopping around. ALDI is often but not always the cheapest. Its Six Fruit/Veg deals, especially this week, can have limited appeal. Kale, Asparagus, Butternut Squash - definitely not weekly staples for most households. Tesco and CoOp are now mimicking ALDI's concept of weekly fruit/veg Specials, and can be just as cheap.
ALDI also sells veg products in peculiar sizes just to suit these Specials. e.g. tiny punnets of grapes for 59p but just 150 grams. Per kilo, they're actually no cheaper than Tesco; in fact a bit dearer.
Like johneb, I'm also not persuaded by ALDI's fruit and veg quality. Maybe it's down to the skills of their buyers at picking the best products at the farm-gate - or driving the price too low - but we've had their fruit and veg turning bad very quickly.
And Tesco/Sainsbury regularly send their checkers up and down the fruit & veg aisles, carefully spotting for early signs of decay in the products; removing them from sale. Not sure ALDI takes quite so much care since most of their produce is pre-packed. And the unpackaged (single) fruit and veg they sell doesn't seem that cheap at all.
Out of all the discounters, LIDL probably has the edge. Especially for bread products, with its small but exotic range of instore bakery items. LIDL sells a very good freshly-baked rye bread for example. ALDI, or at least our local one, mainly sells steam-baked loaves, delivered infrequently, reliant on preservatives, but nevertheless half stale.

I used to shop there for the odd few items when passing but totally avoid now as prices are almost comparable to the main supermarkets nowadays. Their aggressive expansions are ruining local retailers as Aldi is popping up in every village in town. I don't know how they get away with recent marketing ploys such as save 30% on a shop, this saving is based on if you only buy premium brands at full price and should be compared with other supermarket own brands as it's misleading, everyone can save buy buying own brand at a British supermarket I often shop at morrisons and tesco and their own brands are excellent value and just as good if not better than branded.

Yes and something that it's more expensive at Aldi will be cheaper on offer at another supermarket. It's a few pence saving on a few items that will cost you more in fuel just to drive there
adamcb
24 Oct 15#38
Yeah in cloud cuckoo land. Many product tests have ranked Aldi near to the worst but they play on the odd decent product that they do sell and it gets plastered all over the papers. Other supermarkets don't do this because most of their produce is good quality and they aren't trying to drum up custe

Wages are another public deception of Aldi as their rates are not as high as you might think. Morrisons pay £8.20 per hour and you get benefits such as money off shopping and Tesco pay over £9 per hour when benefits are considered. Aldi's rate of pay is less and in the upper £7 mark and they work their back ends off personally I think Aldi staff along with Lidl are vastly underpaid for the work that the shop floor staff do. Aldi and Lidl have a very good marketing team and have fooled many
