Do people really need audio playing out of a monitor with no speakers?
Audio is the only thing Hdmi will give you that DVI doesn't.
An HD picture without sound will be exactly the same through DVI as it is through Hdmi.

The 5ms is what's causing his delay.

Guess it was too much to ask for DVI and HDMI at this price.... Nice price for a decent 24" panel though.

I know it is TN panel.
I would not buy TN panel.
But hot for the price and for people who do not mind TN.

That's strange - I have just checked and my K242HL DOES have HDMI.
But I must admit I wasn't too keen on the colour reproduction so got an IPS screen instead.

Agreed, just get a dvi to hdmi adapter. You can even find ones with a 3.5mm connection for speakers

I have a 22" Dell monitor that doesn't have HDMI. My HDMI to DVI connection cable breaks the HDCP secure connection....meaning that various apps (4OD for example) will not play on my Dell monitor.
HDMI to HDMI is far preferable.

It's just ease of use, I'd connect an xbox and while I don't doubt a HDMI to DVI cable would work, it's still something I'd rather avoid.

Sounds like you have a naff cable there.
Hdmi was designed to be backwards compatible with DVI. There should be no issue, so if there is it's hardware or software related your end.
I've never seen that problem, and I've got two PCs running via DVI to Hdmi adapters. Dad in law is running one as well and it's always been fine.
Are you plugging it in to the onboard graphics or a card?

I guess it could be a dodgy cable.
It's a micro HDMI to DVI cable (Asus T100). Always maintains a stable connection...but where apps such as 4OD work on a HDMI to HDMI connection, they don't on the HDMI to DVI connection.
I'm not overly fussed - I just watch 4OD via the internet browser instead.

That's interesting that. Ta for the info.
Could well be the lead.
Or maybe micro Hdmi isn't designed to be backwards compatible in the same way standard Hdmi is?
I'm pretty sure one of my NUC boxes has micro Hdmi out though, and that works fine through the Hdmi/DVI lead.
Weird that it's specific to 4OD. Shouts a software issue to me, but perhaps someone with a bigger brain than me will read all this and pop along to explain how and why...

Hello mate.
I was sad enough to Google this.
Looks like a driver/software issue with the T100.
Big thread on similar issues with VGA to HDMI adaption here:
I got 3 of these last week using Bespoke for £83.99 each .... It seems to be the model above this one .... Hdmi and 2ms.

In all honesty, it's more of a hypothetical problem since I prefer using a web browser to view 4OD connected to a second screen.
Also, HDMI to VGA is converting digital to analog (unless I'm mistaken?)...so I don't think that is the same problem I am facing.
Cheers for doing the research though

Isn't that resolution a bit low for a monitor? My old 19" is 1440x900 and seems a bit low res after being used to fantastic mobile phone screens.
I haven't looked around, but is it much more to get a higher res screen?

Full HD isn't low resolution for a £85 24" TV.
Smartphones advancing in display technology as it's one of the few ways to "upgrade" them. Apart from the SoC, not much else changes.

Then you need to send a memo to the display manufacuters to bring down prices of 2560x1440 monitors because they won't respond to mine
