The seats sold are not on specially-branded Megatrain trains, instead they are on services operated by Virgin Trains, East Midlands Trains and South West Trains.
Lines covered include London to Bath, London to Sheffield, Birmingham to Edinburgh or Glasgow and Leicester to Derby.
The tickets are offered on lines that are unlikely to be busy and come with a 50p booking charge.
Although the service has been going for some years, it remains relatively unknown as something of an appendage to the Megabus website.
Basically do a quick search on this site before buying your train tickets elsewhere!

I've used both Megatrain and Megabus and they're fine. Given that Megatrain just resell seats on Virgin etc, It'd be interesting to see how you came up with your theory. Please enlighten us.

The only place I can go from either Northampton or bedford is Silverstone. I'll leave that. Unless it's trying to tell me something...?

and yet youve managed to post an intolerant abusive message.
Thanks! Got 2 x £1 ticket to Southampton and 2 x £1 ticket back to London on 17th Nov. I wanted a third ticket as well but they ran out of the £1 tickets.
Does anyone know if I can just print out my tickets from the ticket machine on the day or do I just show my code to the ticket inspector on the train?

You need to book 45 days in advance and I have used Megabus for train journeys for the past 10 plus years - I was in Leicester yesterday .............£1 each way plus the 50p booking fee ............this coming Saturday I have the same deal to Sheffield ..................you have to be fast to get the £1 each way deals ..............the tickets are released at MID-NIGHT each day.

I don't know about Megatrain but Megabus is defo Stagecoach. Stagecoach is notoriously a [email protected] and corrupt company. I had two shocking experiences with them, two written complaints and fully refunded. Credit to them for refunding, but I missed two important appointments and eventually ended up spending more because I had to take taxis to make up for the waste of time.
Their international coaches are ok because they are subcontracted to continental (mainly Polish and Romanian) drivers. You have to give it to the East Europeans, their buses are miles better. But the UK buses are run by Stagecoach drivers with an arrogant attitude.
The second time I arrived from abroad, same as the first time, we arrived 5 hours later than expected. We were put on a lurid and smelly bus, with a strong stench of urine. Disgusting!
All us passengers started complaining. The drivers told us to go and fcuk ourselves!
Taken name of the driver and complained, we all got full refund, but that was it for me.
Good that it all worked out for you, but two in a row is enough for me.

Don't think London to Birmingham (and vice-versa) exists anymore on Megatrain and hasn't for a while?

Yeah, you'd have to get from Birmingham to Derby first (45 minutes, ~£4.20), then get the Megatrain to London.

Bath to London trains on Megatrain run via Salisbury. There are only about 3 trains a day. The journey takes you to Waterloo and is longer than the normal (and frequent) train service from Bath to Paddington. But it is cheap if you can find a ticket, so good luck!!

upvoted because apparently some people aren't aware of these but this is the standard price. Book far enough ahead and you'll always find some seats for a quid.
