Audi A4 1.4TFSI Sport, 2 year lease deal, £118.91 per month, £1800 deposit, £239.99 Admin fee (Business users can take the VAT off that).

I know there are some lease haters and I know a new A4 is just around the corner, but this is an awful lot of car for the money. You can change the mileage if 5000 isn't enough or you can change the deposit to 6 months if you don't have £1800 in your back pocket.

Whatever way you work it out, this is a hot deal IMO.

This *IS* the new A4! It is not the old model - and thus it's a cracking deal!

If you're into driving 8 year old Mondeo's, that's perfectly acceptable.

Everyone has a certain amount of disposable income after their bills, savings and investments are taken care of. Some people like holidays, some like fine dining, some like new cars. Neither of these groupings are in the wrong.

Regarding the leasing v' buying argument, I personally drive 8,000 miles per year so this deal will cost me about £5,200 over the two years.

If I were to buy the car at £24,000 (£26,850 less some discount) and sell it again in two years, I'd probably suffer in excess of £7,000 depreciation.

A 2014 petrol can be had now for £17,000 whilst a low mileage 2012 can be had for £12,000 - so even buying 2 years old and selling after 2 years only represents a saving of £200.

The 2-year old car will have partially worn tyres, need a service sooner and be outside warranty during your final year of ownership.

Of course, you could buy the 4-year old car at £12,000 to start with - but then you're completely outside warranty and, if you still believe this is the way to go, you should start reading this post from the top again

Software updates lol. Surely you can get the oil change elsewhere, check your agreement or call them to be sure. If a software update is really required, they can do it when they get the car back, and if it's urgent, they will issue a recall.

VAG cars that are leased are usually on a longlife service from when they have their PDI. So as you say 20k or 2 years (whichever comes first) - check your cars on-board system and it should say when the service is due.

If you've got the climate control on, wipers, lights etc. then stop/start won't work (i.e. anything which demands high energy consumption from the battery). Also there's a knack to stop/start when braking. If you apply the brakes lightly and come to a gentle stop, then stop/start wont kick in. If you apply medium/heavy pressure then it'll work. Also make sure your foot's not on the clutch.

I would agree with the car being slowish off the mark but once rolling, acceleration is smooth and effortless.

I've barely used 1/4 of a tank of fuel yet, but if the trip computer is accurate I'm averaging 38mpg with mostly town driving. With a 180 mile round trip on the motorway this weekend, I'll be interested to see what she gets at a steady 70mph.

I'm still loving the novelty of getting into the car and driving away, all without taking the keys out of your pocket

I've yet to figure out how the engine auto stop/start works, as it seems quite random. However, I have read it doesn't operate in extreme temperature conditions which might explain why it hasn't worked at -6 degrees!

I'm very impressed so far. The interior quality is superb and pictures don't do it justice, all the controls work well and all the screen functions and Sat Nav is quick and easy to use. I added the enhanced interior LED package to mine (was the only add on I specified) which is very cool and gives you various ambient lighting colours and for £100 it's well worth adding. The engine is a tad slow off the mark from stand still but powerful enough once going and suits a more relaxed style of driving. If you are thinking of getting one of the current deals, I doubt there is a better car for the money.

Cheers, a 64gb is on its way

The car was delivered last night at 5pm. No sunlight which made the inspection difficult. The car was also filthy, so I gave it a blast with the hose. Delivery guy was really friendly and patient.

The car is epic! So smooth to drive and plenty of power. Gadgets galore!

I think it was a bad design to have the "boot open" button on the remote control (I know lots of cars have this). I must have accidentally pressed it when the key was in my pocket and came outside to find the boot wide open!

Overall, I'm thrilled with my first lease deal.

gazzaman to marathonic
20 Oct 15 #233
Fixed is for less than 10,000 miles per year. Longlife is for over 10,00 per year. So in relation to this deal @ 5,000 per annum then fixed is the one unless you're gonna more than double the 5k yearly limit. Only 1 service would be required over 2yrs with such low mileage.
Hope this helps.

5 Oct 15 #228
Actually no. They don't. You are 100% wrong there. The government tests certainly don't reflect real driving conditions, but at least its a level playing field.

Only VW Group had the arrogance to actually design a piece of software to physically cheat the tests. There's a BIG difference between tests not reflecting the real world and purposefully designing your product to cheat at the tests. VW deserve everything they get from this.

Look for leasing companies that follow these guidelines for wear and tear (quite lenient):
http://www.bvrla.co.uk/service/fair-wear-and-tear-guides
donslibi
26 Sep 15 #226
There are guidelines for wear and tear which the PCH contract will detail. Scratches and small dents etc are usually allowed. Even alloy scuffs, but yes you would be charged for more substantial damage. This is no different however, to buying a new car then fixing any significant damage before selling it on or otherwise taking a hit on the sale price due to its condition. The leasing company will have based its monthly payments on the residual value it can get for the car when you hand it back. PCP means you don't necessarily have to fix the car back up if damaged but then you buy it back at a price that assumes no major damage so you're taking a hit on the loss of value either way.
dush_yant
26 Sep 15 #225
Ok, so doesn't PCH leave you open to the leasing company taking the mick at the end of the lease and charge you for every little scratch, ding, alloy scuff or even charge for valet cleaning the interior?
With PCP you have a final purchase price ( assuming you have the cash handy) as a get put of jail card to avoid these return charges?
donslibi
26 Sep 15 #224
That would be a Personal Contract Purchase as opposed to Personal Contract Hire (lease).
dush_yant
26 Sep 15 #223
Extension means your monthly payment will be recalculated and most often the new monthly amount is not really worth it and you would be better off getting a new lease on a new car
dush_yant
26 Sep 15 #222

stev412
26 Sep 15 #220
Q: What happens at the end of my contract?
A: Dependent on the contract taken out you can just simply hand your vehicle back, ask for an extension if applicable or purchase the vehicle in some cases. In contract hire cases a representative from the finance company will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time to inspect and collect the vehicle. It is important that you inspect the vehicle yourself before the end of the contract. We advise all customers to scrutinise the vehicle as if you were purchasing the vehicle as a used car on a forecourt. Any dent, major scratch or windcreen chip should be repaired/replaced before they arrive to inspect your vehicle. Most finance companies have set charges for repairs, so you could if left end up with a hefty end of contract invoice, which can easily be avoided.

Having paid my deposit and received confirmation that the order is placed with Audi, I'm happy that the deal will be honored and have, indeed, counted the chickens.... all 4,774 of them

Yes I am a little pessimistic, was merely stating the facts that we have indeed paid this company £240 up front for something that we are not guaranteed to receive in over 12 weeks time.
He was praising them for "honouring the deal" when all we have at the moment is a wallet £240 lighter.
Our confirmation of order placed is merely a email saying your order has been placed.
Of course this may turn out to be one of the best lease deals on hotukdeals yet and I for one will be a very happy man and grateful to the op for his posting and NVS for their service, time will tell.

Thanks for the thanks. Got to give a big thumbs up to NVS for honoring the deal for those who got it in on time, they've been really helpful with me. I'm sure they could have made excuses and pulled out of this deal so I think they deserve some credit for that.

Even now, the deal on there isn't bad though not as good as the deal above but it might be worth seeing if they'll match it as you know you'll be dealing with someone who seems to come highly recommended on here.

PS. No, I don't work for NVS. ;-)

Or pay the 7.2 pence per mile. So on a 5000 deal like this one, if I do 8000 miles in a year, I need to find £216 a year or an extra £18 a month. Why do people get so hung up on the 5000 miles?

Agreed. I believe the Golf R deals that everyone still talks about is this one.

That was £6,692 over a 2-year term with 10,000 miles per year - this A4 deal would cost £5,495 over the same time if you were to do 20,000 miles in total.

The Golf R has an RRP of £30,820 whilst the A4 has an RRP of £26,850.

That means that you're paying 18% less over the term for a car worth only 13% less.

I'm aware that they're two completely different cars but this is just to give you an idea of how this lease compares to what appears to be still considered last years 'lease deal of the year'.

This will be the deal against which all Audi A4 deals over the next year will be measured agaisnt

Yeah big thanks to OP from me aswell, got in on this deal just in time it seems.

Still getting my head round the ins and outs of leasing a car......

did a quick online check with my current insurer aviva and they do not list the 1.4tfsi yet but on a 1.8 a4 there will be no change to my existing premium. however after doing a bit more digging the wording of their policy terms does not favour leasing at all, for example if your new car is written off in the first year they will provide a new replacement only if you are the "registered owner" of the car. i called to check and they confirmed if the car is on a lease they will not provide the new car replacement, if it was on a hire purchase things would be different. after a bit of googling i found esure to be recommended and right enough in their policy terms the new car replacement is offered to the "registered keeper". very small change in wording but a big difference if you ever come to need this.

A quick thank you to OP for posting the deal. I've been looking at leases for the past two weeks and had the NVS site and various others open for days trying to decide what to go for. Tuesday day I'd closed down all the tabs and had decided to get a Leon ST (at significantly more than this) from elsewhere.

One last check on here Tuesday night and this deal had just been posted, completely would have missed it otherwise. Called NVS first thing yesterday, application went through before lunch and I've had confirmation this morning the order has been placed.

Couldn't have been easier so far. NVS confirmed yesterday when paying the admin fee that it was a pricing error from Audi ("the support was doubled up in the system", whatever that means) but all approved applications would be honoured so I'm thankful to OP for listing the deal and that I got on before it was pulled.

It should arrive about Christmas. Sounds like there are a few of us in this thread that were lucky.

Winter tyres for 8 months of the term is almost certain to guarantee that I'll be able to hand the car back on its original tyres.

Leather or cloth upholstery?
marathonic to ajavaid92
23 Sep 15 1 #178
Cloth. You can add leather but it's ridiculously expensive, as are any options added to a lease deal with any lease company. As a £1,350 option, Milano leather adds £58.70 per month to this deal.

Personally, I'm indifferent as to whether I'd like leather or not. I'd probably take it if it was less than £15 per month extra but, at the same time, my current car is leather and I can find it very hot in the summer months.

I'll update this thread when I hear back. If the deal is correct, I expect to receive word on finance approval over the next 24 hours.

If it was a misprice, I suspect it'll be an auto-decline on the finance for all applicants, regardless of credit standing.

I've just phoned CVL and aparrently Audi has said there was an error on the system, so the offer was pulled. I wonder if it will affect this deal.
marathonic to Haste
23 Sep 15 #175
It was pulled very quickly but this deal, as per my discussion on the phone, has more than 20 active applications already. If the deal weren't correct, it would be pulled from the website by now.

Likewise, if he was trying any underhand tactics, such as requesting additional money for metallic paint as solid was no longer available (another company done this in the past, not National Vehicle Solutions), he would have contacted me by now as I'm one of the 20+

Also, Freedom Contracts matches the price of this deal exactly - further evidence that the price is correct.

It's extremely cheap compared to past deals. I have to wonder if it's the result of Audi's expectation that order books for their vehicles may not fill due to the current Volkswagen scandal.

I'm also wondering whether they fear that these don't meet emissions standard, not that I really care as a personal leaser, and would rather lease them through Audi finance than sell them privately - out of fear of possible forced refunds to private owners due to mis-advertising.

Regardless of the reasoning, the current scandal is a big reason that leasing is a better option than buying until the dust settles. Impacted cars could suffer massive depreciation over the next 1-2 years on the used market.

Your initial "1.4 and its a sport LOL" comment inferred that the engine size is the be-all and end-all when it comes to performance. The latest comment backtracks on that.

All I can tell you is that this car is 0.1 seconds quicker at 0-60 when compared to my 2.2 litre diesel (which, might I add, is the 'sport' version with 180bhp versus the standard 2.2 litre versions 150bhp).

In fact, if you look at this 2011 1.8 TFSI Your text here, you'll realise that it's significantly slower than the 1.4 TFSI in this deal.

I'd say it was a misprice. Even Stable Vehicle Contracts had an offer of £132 +vat per month, 24 months, 6+23 posted just 40 minutes ago that has been replaced with £179 + vat.

The coordinated increase would lead me to believe that maybe the two companies are linked in some way, or at least sourcing their vehicles from the same location.

Edit: Or maybe they saw the heat of this deal and realized there's no need to offer it at such a ridiculously low price.

Most leases are for business reasons & usually the driver pays a Benefit in Kind on their income tax.
If these emissions are wrong, then there is grey area where the Benefit in Kind could be wrong & the working man has been underpaying the tax.
I am looking to lease a vehicle for business purposes & now I am going to wait it out, as I was looking at either a golf estate, Seat Leon Estate or skoda superb. Purely based on the MPG & BIK rates, But now I am back to square one & looking at other options. If petrol was back to 130p though, I would prob get an Outlander Phev.

lord_trumpington
23 Sep 15 #138
So, you have to pay £2,040 up front and £118 per month to lease the car, then give it back after 2 years? I can see the business benefit in these plans but the personal plans make absolutely no financial sense to me. If you are only going to drive 5k miles per year go and spend 1k on a 8 year old Mondeo with 12 months MOT on it.
marathonic to lord_trumpington
23 Sep 15 7 #145

Of course, you could buy the 4-year old car at £12,000 to start with - but then you're completely outside warranty and, if you still believe this is the way to go, you should start reading this post from the top again

marathonic to bojangles
23 Sep 15 1 #136
I couldn't care less in the unlikely event that tax is increased on a car already on the road due to the issue - even if the government attempted it, which is unlikely, there are two things that make it a moot point - the legislation and re categorization would take in excess of a year and, anyway, the lease company is responsible for the motor tax.

Regarding the cars getting cheaper, it may well hit the price of used and/or new cars. If it hits the resale values, that's all the more reason to lease as opposed to buy. If it hits the new car values, those discounts should filter down just in time for you to take advantage when this lease deal ends.

q2. do optional extras (eg sunroof) really bump up the lease price or only a bit in your experience
fishmaster to ajmitchell
23 Sep 15 1 #133
Gap insurance is something you decide to take out yourself independently, if you crash the car or cause damage to it, and need insurance company to cover it, general insurance won't cover the cost enough so you'll be out of pocket and quite possibly significantly.

Don't add extras unless you can't live without them as they bump up the lease cost per month.

Are these 1.4 motors affected by the excessive oil consumption issue of the higher capacity TFSI engines (Audi were quoted as expecting oil usage of up to 0.5 litres every 600 miles on some of the 2.0 lumps), or has that now been remedied by VAG?

I leased a car with these people last year, great to deal with and you can haggle a bit as well. If that's the new model it looks VERY similar to the OLD model, think I will go petrol next, diesel is in for a bad rap in the coming months after the VW headlines, turns out diesel is more poisonous than petrol and is contributing to 20k deaths per year in uk, diesel car residuals may drop as a result......this is pretty good deal, small turbocharged engines maybe the future, it's taking the industry a VERY long time to improve battery technology in cars, can't even get a full day out of a smartphone, once/if the boffins discover the latest technology that allows batteries on cars to last more than 100 miles, that's going to be the future, but then there's the pollution from generating the electricity on the first place.....

The Tesla Model S does 300 miles per charge and can charge 80% of the battery in 1 hour.

Rubbish. It would seem to me that most manufacturers are now bolting on bi-turbo (small and big in series to eliminate lag) to performance models, or supplementing small efficient engines with electric motors - both of which have proved incredibly reliable solutions.

Trust me i love large engines (have a 5.3l V12 Jag) as their "aint no replacement for displacement" when it comes to easy, smooth driving but the age of the large engine has passed.
PsychoSonny

those modern engines your talking aren't re-inventing the wheel.

all manufacturers are doing now is bending to stupid regulations about emissions, etc.

the future is piddly engines with HUGE turbos and superchargers bolted on. which makes them unreliable.

For 10000 miles paying the monthly fee of £118 and then paying 7.2 a mile averaged out over the two years, it works out at £268. Not so much of a hot deal
donslibi to Crashcox1
23 Sep 15 #82
(1,154.76+(192.46*23)+240)/24 = £242.56pm by my calcs (by changing it to 10,000 miles on the website).
marathonic to Crashcox1
23 Sep 15 1 #85
Redo your calculations - the 5,000 miles per year excess works out at £360 per year, or £30 per month. This brings the cost to a little under £230 per month, not £268.

Hot hot hot!!!!

It goes OK for the size of car. This model is aimed more towards comfort and economy than racing.

But you have to love the train of thought that anything less than a 3.5L V6 is going to be a total slug. Engine technology has moved on. A lot. I can only assume these folks are stuck in 80's mode. Even F1 cars (OK, with lots of bells and whistles and not a lot of weight) only run a 1.6L for their internal combustion engine these days ....

You realise that this is the newer, significantly lighter, model?

0-60 in 8.7 seconds ain't bad at all. It's no hot-hatch contender but it's well above average speed.

had my 3 series in for repair after an accident and was given an A4 2L diesel S line. Having had the A4 for 6 weeks all i can say is it was a relief to give it back and fet my Bmw returned. Steering bland and unresponsive, sat nav terrible, mpg was 45 compared to 55 in my 320D compared to my bmw and no fun to drive. Having had both cars i can honestly say it is a let down in so many areas. Dont do it if you enough driving

It wasn't the new model you were driving so it could be a totally different experience - only the online reviews give any hints to date.

That being said, I haven't seen many reviews of the old model online that were quite as negative as yours.

"I know there are some lease haters and I know a new A4 is just around the corner" - you have undersold your deal!

The website says "A4 SALOON (2015)" - this is the NEW A4. They stopped making the old A4 a while back. The 1.4l petrol also wasn't available on the old one, only started at a 1.8l.

This is an absolute bargin.

You are right about the engine but that seems too good to be true, I thought this was a good deal on the outgoing model. I've contacted them anyway so I'll know for certain soon but if you are correct (and I'm hoping you are), I think I'll be placing my order.

22 Sep 15 #58
No, wasn't the mileage I got wrong but the overall cost, I'd multiplied the monthly by 24 rather than 23 when working out the total over 2 years.

Actually less than 6k if you compare the 5,000 miles pa option. And some people care about the interior (and exterior) style/comfort of their car. With your logic, why have any nice used or new car as you are only going to sell it one day.

That's a good deal as well, if you set the deposit to custom, it appears to be 1 month up front which on 5K is £236 up front and £236 a month. Considereing it's not a previous generation can like my deal, that's very good.

Always worth checking an A4 before pulling the trigger. I have a current 3series, which has a great interior, friend of mine got a C class last week and it's not even close to as nice as mine, very cheap and plasticky...the multimedia screen is plastered on as an after thought. I have recently been inside a fairly basic A4 in the showroom and think it's every bit as nice..if not nicer, than my 3series.

BMW 318i Auto Sport Saloon for £271 (10,000miles pa) is also a very good deal on the same site:
http://www.nationalvehiclesolutions.co.uk/BMW-3-SERIES-SALOON-318i-Sport-4dr-Step-Auto-Personal-Lease/38221

I would strongly recommend anyone looking to buy an Audi to see it in person first. Sounds obvious, but unless it's very cheap, you will be disappointed with the interior quality and interior space compared to BMW and Mercedes equivalents. For example the 3 series and C class are both larger inside than the A4. I went to the show rooms of all three a few weeks ago.
