I think he means the network not being 4G. The phone is 4G capable.

It makes the sim only deal more tempting tbh.

Can somebody confirm if this is the same phone for me please? As in - Is there a difference between smart Prime 6 and smart Ultra 6? I can't seem to find Ultra 6 on Amazon?
If so - why wouldn't I just buy this and unlock it?

It's a different phone, a previous post gave a link that compares them both.

Sweet, thanks. Both look to be amazing value phones. I'll check out the comparison. voted Hot BTW.

Wow! that's Ridonkulous spec for £125..!
I've been looking for a first smartphone for my son and this seems nearly as good as my S5.! Looks to be a ZTE re-badge from reading reviews so likely to be fairly durable as well. I'm actually wishing I'd have waited for one of these and saved myself some cash

IMO three . in the past I've been on o2 who had patchy signal, t mobile who were actually pretty good - the £20 6 months internet add-on is useful in my mifi device, and ovivo(Vodafone) who had the worst signal of the lot. Ironically you can't get signal in Lichfield stood outside the Vodafone shop. I don't do contracts, so based on payg experience three is the cheapest and has the best signal

I'm not sure you can judge 3g performance of vodaphone by ovivo. I think providers who piggy back on other networks tend to not have the same capacity as the original network owners (I might be wrong, but i strongly suspect this is the case). For instance, giffgaff is shocking for 3g, but o2 isnt bad in my city centre, even though giffgaff are piggy backing on their network.

Is there any way of independently verifying the strength of various providers 3g performance in my local area?

Most networks have terrible reviews on Trustpilot. I think it's down to us being more inclined to complain than praise  . If everything is ok we do not tend to rush leaving the positive review (especially uninvited) and the long term agreements do not help to make the decision at the beginning of the term.We then change the operator and no longer care

wouldnt know im afraid.
tbh its all smoke and mirrors when it comes to that kind of stuff.
id recommend either getting some PAYG type sims for other providers and try them out, or ask your friends, families and colleagues about their experiences.

cashback deals are great but it relies on YOU claiming, if YOU forget its hardly the fault of the seller now is it
@ £9.50 this is better than most sim only deals never mind getting a rather good phone thrown in too, its an absolute steal

why would buy sim free from here for 142.99 when u can get it from Vodafone for £125 and £4-1 unlock code of eBay? plus choice of colours!

I went for the deal but apparently failed the credit check with talkmobile.
Just completed on a₤350k mortgage with no issues, own my own home, cars plus in a well paid job, but too much of a risk for talkmobile.
On the plus side, works out better to buy phone outright from vodafone (if u can stump up ₤125 upfront), and get a simo deal from these guys with EE or vodafone for ₤5.99 after cashback giving u 2gb of 4G data, unlimited minutes and text.

are they even gonna push a 5.1 update? I've looked everywhere but I can't find anything about it, they just recently pushed 5.0.2 from what I read... I am considering buying this phone but this is the only the thing that is holding me back, 5.1 solved a couple of issues
Perhaps, but even so, vodafone have the least coverage of the UK according to ofcom. Three at least have an app you can use that piggybacks on your wifi connection to make calls and texts, think EE might do something similar.

Spec wise, it isn't even close. Much slower CPU (android struggles on the 8 core smart ultra 6, god knows what its like a 410), lower res screen, 1gb ram, smaller battery.... If it was £59 it might be worth a look, as it is its massively overpriced.

Android version is 5.02 after an update, no release date for 5.1 yet.

The Smart is not just a 5" version of the Ultra 6. All its specs are much lower and fairly ordinary for the phone of that price. The specs of the Ultra are amazing for its price. Doubt if Vodafone is making any profit on the Ultra.

don't underestimate the smart prime 6, little lass has one, loaded up with games, apps galore and it still flies
obviously the ultra is better but if on a budget the prime 6 is really good too
oh and for the record, i have a htc one, wife has a z2 so we have pretty decent phones to compare it with

Cracking phone, but avoid talkmobile like the plague if things go wrong, Iv'e been trying to get one of there sims in my Ultra 6 for a month. Promise to call you back and don't, ring them up and go through there stupid identity rigmarole total waste of time.

Your calculation is way out.
£300 for 24 months contract, not 12 months
If you get you cash back
12.5 x 24 - 72 = 228 for phone and 24 months
228 - 125 = 103
103/24 = £4.29 pm for the free minutes etc

12 Aug 15#36
how is Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 Black compare to Samsung S5?
I am interested in both. I like S5 because of battery life and camera.
How is this phone's camera performance.
huangxq2
12 Aug 15#37
I did some research, its battery last 10 hours on video test while S5 last 17.5 hours in the same test.
Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 camera is slow.
I am going to choose S5.
But this is a brilliant phone for the PAYG price. Only some Chinese phones can achieve same/higher specs at the same price. But among those chinese phones, if they are very popular in the UK, their price is higher such as Oneplus One.
The deal is even hotter consider the monthly rental price and the free minutes, texts and data you receive.

If I buy this phone and get an unlock code from ebay, will my Tesco 4g sim work in it? Does it recognise the band 20 / 800 MHz that tesco/O2 uses ?
