Made a desk using the oak one of these, but paid about 90 for it. Good quality. Finishes up nicely with a few coats of wood oil and some sanding!

Fitted [email protected] gloss black was cheap totally regret it scratches so easily ,forgot to put cloth under chopping block it is scratched badly underneath,wish had gone for something like this or what partner wanted beech block.

This isn't beech block; it's beech veneer on particleboard. They use "solid wood" on the web site description to quite deliberately mislead until you read the details. Naughty!

I saw these, there was 200 on Saturday, they are oak veneer, 3.8mm thick veneer on particle board.
they look great, not sure if they would suit being cut and joined.
