TCB - Accepted Matched Credit Card Application £26.25
Quidco - for an accepted application on the Matched credit card £25
Beyond my post above, when you actually purchase online it's very clear, as one of the card options is 'Post Office Credit Card', which shows a zero fee, like using a debit card. There's also £3.03 cashback at Topcashback at the moment, minimum spend I believe is ~£400.
^^ Eh, never heard of that! Have you confirmed with them on the phone?

Only thing I don't like, I've set up my direct debit to be£75 pm and the minimum payment each month should be 2.5% of the balance (I think), yet when u get ur statement shows minimum payment £75!!!!

I pretty much did the same, setup the DD just as soon as I had access online.
Only after I called PO on the 3rd did they correctly setup the DD (now shows via my Barclays banking site as 'Bank of Ireland card services').

^^ I thought, well, I know I did, set up a DD through the Post Office site pretty much as soon as I was granted access to it, however upon checking it appears I didn't. So I set one up again. Then, a few days back I checked online and there was no record of it! I've rung them now and they had no record of anything being set up, so my advice to check with them over the phone and not assume that it's already been saved.
As others have site, the PO site for credit cards is truly shocking
Zico
8 Oct 15#206
At least they setup your direct debit correctly. Had a letter dated 31st July that the DD was setup. Jump ahead to 30th Sept when it was supposed to be taken, my online banking (Barclays) shows it paid and recalled (marked unpaid). Quick call to Barclays and they tell me that PO never sent the mandate for the DD. Called up PO and they have supposedly setup the DD again but I'm still awaiting a letter to confirm there muck up and that I don't loose the 0% offer on the card due to the DD failing.

Has anyone used the card for travel money from the Post Office yet? Am I right to understand there's NO charges associated with doing this (e.g. not seen as a cash advance (with normal interest rates), plus no type of conversion fee etc)? Sounds too good(?)

I've not received written confirmation. Also, had a bum twitcher when it came to my first direct debit payment. What ever amount u set up as dd will become ur minimum payment!!! Also, payment to be received by 22nd but turns out they call for the money on the 22nd so didn't clear until the 24th. Really weird set up post office is

I've just received my Matched Credit card and I can confirm that none of the paperwork, or PDF's provided during the application mention the promotional offer of 25 months (it only mentions 16 months). I rang the customer services line and I've had verbal confirmation that if I make a purchase or balance transfer in the first 3 months I will receive written confirmation, in the post, that the offer has been extended to 25 months.

Mine certainly isn't.
When I called to make a manual payment for my first month, I asked the Customer Services rep and they could confirm the last date of my interest free period (it was 25 months for me as expected). Note - you must make a purchase in your first month to activate this, but I'd definitely follow up with them on the phone to confirm.

Hi guys,
A couple of questions now I have my card...
Is it contactless? The literature suggests it is but I can't see the contactless logo on the card itself. Secondly, how do you know for sure that the card is 25 months on purchases and not 16, do you get any notification after your first purchase or is there any kind of indication on your online account?
Thanks.
morgie
23 Aug 15#196
Don't get me wrong, I agree with the advice and have always followed it in the past. My online banking lets me see that this DD has already been setup though. I'll monitor at the time and call them to make a manual payment on the day should it fail. I would think as a new customer and with the situation explained they'd waive any fee if spoken to on the day.....maybe a test though, just my personal approach, not a recommendation.
Zico
23 Aug 15#195
I've always been advised by any card company to make the first month payment as the DD will not be active until the second billing month. To be honest, active or not, it's safer to make the minimum payment manually to make sure you keep the 0% offer.

23 Aug 15#194
Setup seems to have been pretty quick for my DD (<1 week). Shows as "BANK OF IRELAND CR CARD SERVICES"
Zico
22 Aug 151#193
Just remember to setup a direct debit to pay the minimum (at the very least) and make a manual minimum payment for the first month (as direct debits are usually only ready of the second month billing). If you miss a payment/don't make the minimum for the month then you will lose the 0% interest free offer!

I just called them as my letter only said 16 months 0%. I was told that you had to do a balance transfer in the first 3 months in order to get the 25 months 0% on purchases. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Fraudsters. No customer service whatsoever.
I have a complaint to make against these jokers if anybody could assist. I had £500 sat in my account after they took my payment twice. I requested the £500 credit to be sent back to my bank account and they couldn't do this but advised me over the phone it's free to withdraw the £500 surplus using a free bank atm. So I used a nationwide atm to withdraw the £500 therefore leaving my balance at £0... and they charged me a fiver for withdrawing. Despite advising me it's free to withdraw. Then they charged interest on that! I've complained the only way to complain to them which was their fscustomercomplaint email address. Got an email back "it's being investigated" . That was 4 weeks ago! I've sent 3 follow up emails demanding they listen to the call recording they'll have of the BS advice they gave me and requested a refund. Theyve simply ignored me. I've requested 3 times they disclose information on how to close my account with them, they refuse to release this information.
Who can I escalate this complaint to?

Nectar has nothing in common with stoozing, this card or anything related to banking, imo.
Even with two cards, you might make £500 or close (don't forget Santander account is a paid account, there is a fee involved).
So not sure about the £2000 you mention, and you say you are not sure either, basically the most important part of this is to be disciplined, I doubt you don't follow it to the penny. If you include cashback from Quidco and Topcashback on anything, not just this card, yes, it adds up, but not related to stoozing. Just trying to keep it real, I would do it as well for a year or so for fun, but as for earning an income, it is just not sustainable.

I thought you said big business... like I said, it's not going to be a full £270, for example Santander charger a monthly fee, also you cannot get the full 9000 balance spent in one go, probably more like a few months and so on.
I am all for stoozing as an exercise, but you just seem to portrait it like "big business" which is not.
Also, little work is debatable, probably if you count the hours you put into this, you get your usual hourly payment you would get by doing an extra hour/month at work.
I just did... and I got 0% chance of acceptance for this card.

That's right. If people use their cards correctly then banks would not offer credit cards. Some expect that in 2 years time (plenty - you think) they will pay back everything. In dreams but not in reality. Bank will win if you don't make real, correct calculation and stick to this. Bear in mind, calculate with amount on your account that covers 6 months financial needs even if you will loose your job.

I am surprised that Halifax don't advertise it enough!
It is specified in their Credit card terms and conditions included below for ready reference
"11. REWARD PAYMENT
11.1 - If you meet the requirements set out in condition 11.2, then for any statement period in which you:-
(a) make at least £300 of Purchases (once any Purchases refunded in that period have beend deducted);
(b) stay within your credit limit; and
(c) make your minimum monthly payment;
you will qualify for a £5 credit to your account in the following month. The credit will not be treated as a payment to your account under these conditions.
11.2 - To be eligible for the reward set out in condition 11.1, you must, at the time you enter into this agreement:-
(a) hold a Halifax current account and pay in £1,000 or more each month;
(b) use our switching service to move your current account to a Halifax Current Account and agree to pay in £1,000 or more each month;

In answer to point 1. Always set up direct debit for minimum payment on your preferred day of the month, or set up standing order via online banking. I know most people do just that but it's worth mentioning for those that don't and most certainly should.

Yeah, the clarity credit card and reward card with the halifax both payout an incentive monthly. Spend £300 on the credit card in a month and you get £5 cashback automatically. Pay in over £750 into the bank account in a month and receive £5 cashback automatically. Free money! Clarity is one of the best for using abroad also.

Just make sure card is cleared after 25 months. They may write to you after x amount of months/years about non activity giving you 60-90 days to use it or lose it. This deal for me is all about buying any goods over the value of £100 for the next 2 years on interest free credit. It's perfect for high end purchases.

Main thing to bear in mind is that the Post Office wouldn't offer this deal if they didn't think they would make a profit from it.
As the OP says, it is possible to make a small profit by moving your everyday spend to this card and putting your own money into an account that pays interest. But if you're not careful, you may get carried away and end up borrowing more than you can afford.
In terms of traps, there are two main ones to be aware of:
1. If you miss a payment or go over your credit limit, they'll take the 0% away and your payments will increase dramatically.
2. If your plan is to spend and then transfer the balance to another 0% deal at the end of the 25 months, bear in mind you may not be able to get another 0% deal if your credit record worsens or if firms stop offering balance transfer deals.
Credit cards can be a brilliant tool for managing cash flow and for flexible borrowing, but ALWAYS have a solid plan in place for how you will repay anything you borrow.

It's hardly worth stoozing and running it over to a new card, as at best you'll have to pay 1.5-2% balance transfer fee, so even if you'd maxed out gross interest at 3% on £9k on this, you'd lose most of that when transferring the balance to a new card.

Expert stoozeers do not pay off the credit card bill (when the 0% ends) but balance transfer to a 0% balance transfer credit card and continue to earn interest from the bank:). It does need some discipline to manage otherwise it will cost more and things will get quickly out of control.

I didn't know it was called stoozing but I have been doing that for years. Currently have a Amex card with most of the £9k credit limit used on 0% with the money to pay it off in my 123 account earning 3% gross. I also have earns £100 cash back from Amex on that spend. I usually have 2 cards on the go but you must be disciplined. I use the cards for every purchase and just update a spreadsheet on my phone and move the money into the relevant savings account each time. Takes a few seconds. Free money for me. Yay
MaximusRo to monkeymagik
19 Jul 151#44
The most you could win is £270/year, hardly big money. Probably less though as you cannot get to the full balance of 9000 in one go.

Have you tried Halifax's Clarity Credit Card? It has no fee for cash withdrawals abroad and gives a better exchange rate. Also if you spend £300 per month then it gives £5 credit in the following month (which is equivalent of 1.67% cashback).

- 0% on purchases for first 16 months from the date of agreement;

At the end of the introductory period, any outstanding balances will be subject to the applicable standard variable rate.

Aren't there any minimum monthly payments on this card? As in you'd have to pay the creditors back on a monthly basis to pay back the money they have 'borrowed' you?
voodoo85 to jihadijulz
19 Jul 15#32
From the Summary Box:
Any monthly minimum payment will be rounded up to the nearest pound (£) and will be the greatest of:
• 2.5% of the outstanding balance on your statement (minimum £5) OR
• The full balance (if less than £5) OR
• 1% of the outstanding balance plus interest, plus fees, plus any insurance premium
So a balance of £1,000 would need a min payment of £25
edit: Obviously only paying the minimum back will mean the card takes longer to pay off - if stoozing, you would run it differently to increase balance on the high interest bank/savings account.

Only after I called PO on the 3rd did they correctly setup the DD (now shows via my Barclays banking site as 'Bank of Ireland card services').
As others have site, the PO site for credit cards is truly shocking
When I called to make a manual payment for my first month, I asked the Customer Services rep and they could confirm the last date of my interest free period (it was 25 months for me as expected). Note - you must make a purchase in your first month to activate this, but I'd definitely follow up with them on the phone to confirm.
Thanks.
TCB has tracked though!
Thanks.
I only got 16 months 0%, but a decent 5k limit. I've always used cashback credit cards and settled in full each month in the past. Cashback rates are a bit rubbish these days though, stoozing seems to be the better option now! The bonus £25/£30 from quidco will come in handy too
1. Set the card up in PayPal - https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/wallet
2. Register the card for the Topcashback 'OnCard' deals - https://www.topcashback.co.uk/oncard/manage-cards/
3. Register the card for the Quidco 'In Store' deals - https://www.quidco.com/settings/in-store/

It all smacks of cheap marketing ploy by the Post Office to get new customers, well Post Office it has most certainly backfired. Don't chase after fools gold community give this deal a wide berth.
Who can I escalate this complaint to?
lso offers 0% on balance transfers for 16 months. 2.98% balance transfer fee applies. Balance transfers must be made within three months of account opening.
What's my best option, get a balance transfer card and send it over then grab another card for spends? Or get a card to do both? Appreciate any help!

I am all for stoozing as an exercise, but you just seem to portrait it like "big business" which is not.
Also, little work is debatable, probably if you count the hours you put into this, you get your usual hourly payment you would get by doing an extra hour/month at work.
