Vectone has really good price plans. But it's service is becoming bad beyond belief. Not the occasional glitches, but non-working internet, SMS for several days in a row, numerous call connection problems (both inbound and outbound). Tech support (assuming you can reach them) just logging complaints, but nothing gets resolved. Looks like some global company-wide meltdown, some people are already asking whether they are going bankrupt...

I would suggest staying away from them for a while.

Same here.
Couldn't connect to network for four hours in my office. Only connected after I walked across the park and possibly connected to new cell site.

Also when you use it for call it switches to 2G and struggles to connect to 3G.

Was hoping to convert this as my main number but no chance now with the pathetic service.

For the love of god do NOT transfer your number to these cowboys!

Their deals change all the time, customer service is non-existent.

I tried this for a month before deciding, when I bought the sim, calls to Africa were included. Next month it was not. If you see now, International calls are no longer included altogether.

Not worth moving permanently to. Its a cowboy setup. If you look online, you will see people have had a mare getting the PAC code to transfer their number out.

Try it if you can but don't jump in and commit your number before you're sure is my advice.

Avoid at all costs. These are a bunch of thieves. My sim failed after two days, have still to get my £15 back AS THEY DON'T SPEAK HARDLY ANY ENGLISH then they had the cheek to take another £10 from my card after i had cancelled the debit. I have reported them to Ofcom.

CUSTOMER SERVICE BARELY SPOKE ENGLISH, and none of my issues got resolved. Other than that, I got a pac code without going through unnecessary conversations about your reasons, etc

I still remember back when Vectone started up and they could be found in pretty much most bus stations, train stations across the UK with usually an Indian bloke behind a tiny white/green/blue stall bossing around 3-4 other Indians. They'd hand out so many that you'd probably sit on one on the public transport instead of a newspaper. Anyway I used to use them for international calls a while back and the first instance I encountered a problem their customer service was so atrocious that I waited around two weeks before I finally got a reply to the issues I encountered and even that was a pathetic copy & paste robotic reply. Personally wouldn't ever go near Vectone and if you do just make sure you don't take your main number with you because you probably won't be with them that long.

TalkTalk also offering unlimited calls, texts, and data for £12. But think they use the Vodafone. So no good for me in my area with there patchy 3g coverage. However the 2g is excellent., if you do not need data.

4 Jun 15 #81
I have vectone sim as on the bundle I have I can use minutes between UK & international, which works for me. I find the network is ok as they use EE and I am in an area with decent coverage. However Customer service is non-existent. They messed up my number porting and for 3 weeks my number wouldn't work. However since then I've not had a reason to call customer service so am happy to continue using it.

Tethering - while not allowed. Occasionally in case of emergencies I've managed to use it without getting any warning or issues. However technically tethering is not allowed and it is very easy for them to spot it - maybe I've just been lucky.

I'm not 100% sure, but you can order sim cards for free and try it, yes I would also like the answer
Phsycronix
3 Jun 15 #49
Now, this sounds just like what I've been looking for. I do have a really (probably!) stupid question though...

Is this scenario possible? I.e. how I read all the blurb and T's & C's etc - If you were to order two sims - when they come and you put them in the phone(s) and activate them, you could then make Vectone to Vectone calls for free without ever topping up? It seems that as soon as you activate a sim, you are on the "Starter" tariff - which INCLUDES V to V calls/texts. It only changes to "Standard" tariff when you first top up (which still includes V to V) - but what if you never bothered? I can't see anything in the blurb that states you've GOT to top up. Just that you have to USE the service once every 180 days. Not make a CHARGEABLE call...

Now, someone with a better thinking head on than mine - please tell me where/if my logic is flawed. If I'm wrong, it still seems incredibly cheap though - only £12 a year (£1/month Pocket Saver) for an emergency phone that'll always have minutes/txts/data on.

Thanks for pointing this out keebb9.

Regards, Phsy.

gavindavies790251
4 Jun 15 #73
I was with Vectone for a mouth on Pay as you go. Costumer service seemed quite good to me.

But I kept having data connection issues. Some times there was no data connection, other times there was. When there was it was good speed like 8meg. Might of been my phone though or settings. I'd be interested to see if any one else has this issue. As would go back to them if I could sort it out. Also ported my number in and out, and no problems.

Beware from this company

In 20 days they have charged me 45 pounds when I want to leave them. I have also buy there £15 package for everything unlimited. Will never ever use them again. Use this company on your own risk. No tethering and after oneday of continuous use they will reduce your speed to nothing.
Also note customer service is poor and you will be begging for your pac code when you want to leave

This company took ages to port my number over - I thought it had been lost forever. The customer service was atrocious - kept promising it would be done by the end of the day, and even "accidentally" hanging up if things got a bit tough for them. BUT... now it is all set up and running and I don't need to use customer services, their PAYG bundles are blooming cheap and I don't have any issues. No 4g but there is poor coverage in my area anyway.

4 Jun 15 1 #68
Not only. I tested it for two weeks at the end of last year. The Internet didn't connect between 9 and 22, sms reports didn't work, caller ids were stripped from 0 (couldn't phone someone back without editing the number) and international call quality was unacceptable. Customer service barely spoke English, and none of my issues got resolved. Other than that, I got a pac code without going through unnecessary conversations about your reasons, etc

I need a sim card for my 11 years old son and I thought this will be good as I dont have to worry about him going over the allowance and ending with massive bill. I have used vectone before, its ok for unlimited calls and text and yes if your friends/family have vectone then V 2 V free calls is a plus as with unlimited calls it will hardly matter to you, their 3G is not that good and the customer service is awful , my view is stay away
englishpatient22
4 Jun 15 #63
Baware poor customer services but also don't trust them they removed access to smart rates cheap calls abroad after few months from my Sim. The only reason I had even bothered to get a Sim from them. This is only now for new customers?! I wonder if somthing like this will not happen to this tariff so unlimited will go away after few months, but would hope tariffs are better protected...

Good deal for unlimited, effectively 3GB of 3G data in a month (which is about 2.5GB more than I normally use) and after that an unlimited EDGE speed connection which is good enough for email updates etc.

Found these in terms and conditions:

(e) Unlimited usage is subject only to a variation of speed from 3G to 64 kbit/s for usage beyond 3GB per month per SIM.

(f) Vectone mobile reserves the right to withdraw or suspend the services or to disconnect you if we suspect that offer is being used for commercial purposes, for conferencing, or if it is not being used in a handset (in a SIM box for example), or if it is being used for tethering.
