Went shopping for these today and saw that they were £7.99 per bag in Homebase and a similar price in B&Q. Saved a fortune at £3 per bag. Found these in Cambridge Asda. Assuming it is nationwide.
do they still sell these slate chippings as I can not find any on their sites

Does anyone know how much a bag covers in square m?

I got about 50cm x 40cm coverage at a decent depth. Spread out over 1m squared, it was patchy.

In my local, Inverness, the slate ones are £3.78 each per bag, but the yellow smaller ones are 3 for £10. Still, 3 bags for £11 is OK.

I needed a lot and looked around on the internet - got 1000kg delivered for £97, much cheaper than buying the small bags from Asda etc. Grasslands Turf for anyone interested.

Same here (but from decorative aggregates) But if you don't need as much as we obviously did then this is a good deal, no doubt about it.

Gave up on bark half of it blew away anyhow also the amount of spiders, ants and woodlice that used it as a personal home was insane and the snails can't forget about them !
These look great but been thinking of getting these to cover some odd places and some turf but I wonder does weeds and grass still grow on top?

I want some of that rubber bark you mix with resin - looks great and can't be kicked about. Shame no-one does it ready mixed sheets

I imagine this is worse than bark when the local cats/squirrels/birds kick it into your lawn and then you go over it with the mower

Having used bark in the garden for the kids play area it is ok for one summer then it gets a bit mucky and needs replacing. I think the slate looks great and will certainly be a lot cleaner.

im guessing 'yes' but is slate better then using tree bark? Reason being i heard u get woodlice with bark.
I've cleaned out my garden and to stop weeds i am going to put weed control fabric but what on top?

I made the switch from bark chippings to slate. After a while the bark decomposes to a crumb and doesn't smell too good. Bark Chip also easier for a cat to dig and leave you a gift.

I hope it is as I am thinking of extending my drive using either the blue or purple slate not sure which colour yet.
I need to dig out yet and put some hard core down and do the rest of the prep work so I am in no rush but just checking how much the whole project will cost!
I think these bags in asda are 25kgs not the smaller 20kg that home bargains sell so are a better buy. Whole pallet full at asda West Swindon at 10:00 this morning

Drive up to Snowdonia. They have 3 Billion tonnes of the stuff that they are trying to get rid of on the cheap. :-)

Be aware this is quite coarse/chunky compared to the £6/7 bags of blue slate in B&Q. B&Q do stuff the same as this at £4 a bag. This is a great deal, but be sure it is the stuff you need if you are mixing from different sources.

Went to get them from B and M first, but had none in the Cambridge store.

Heat added. 3 for £10 at B&M which is more of course but they have a very large range of aggregates, including plum slate (my personal favourite, looks amazing when wet) and limestone chippings etc.
