It will not be locked to the first n/w based on the first SIM you use. It is n/w independent and will remain n/w independent for the rest of its life. So feel free to hop on and off based on the best SIM deals on the market.

Pretty self explanatory, but the cover just protects the screen whereas the case is a case that protects the back as well as the front.

You can buy this cover for sub £5 on ebay, various colours available. I opted for white to match the front. Looks a bit fisherprice now but feels pretty robust. I also bought a tempered glass screen for a similar price.

Look for the model number on the top label on the back of the box, end of the third line. It's also on the back of the iPad itself I think.

I got mine delivered earlier. There's a small mark on the back that doesn't rub off, maybe that's why they are cheap? Not that I care, just wondering it anyone else sees any imperfections ?

Same here. Looks like the code was more popular than PayPal had dared hope. Midnight tonight was pretty optimistic of them. I imagine they'd allocated a set amount of money to cover the code that simply ran out.

Depends on what type of cover you want i.e. smart cover (which acts as a front cover and stand), full case (protecting everything) or just something to slip the iPad into. Also, with regards to the screen protector I've never bothered with mine as I find it's not a vulnerable as smartphones to getting scratched but obviously that'll depend on where/how you use it.
Going back to the original question of covers/cases etc it's worth looking on Amazon at user reviews. Personally I have a "iPad Mini TPU Gel Skin Case" and then an Apple Smart Cover (you can pick up the Apple one on the Argos eBay store for £9.99 http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Argos?keywords=ipad%20mini%20smart)

Holiday is one of the only times I'll use the ipad outside home - you can use the same SIM abroad too with some effort, i.e. credit the SIM and then buy an add on from the credit (I'm not sure what the add ons cost yet).
Looks like the £2.99 / 48 hours / 500 MB is an "add-on" too (add on purchase is a pre requisite for feel at home on PAYG).

Why don't you check your PayPal account first, as posted Currys takes full amount from PayPal but the 20% is calculated so you will pay 20% less - stop scaremongering

For anyone confused about the payment, the discount is offered by PayPal, not Currys. So when you pay, the full amount 235 goes to Currys, BUT PayPal tops up your account by £47 and then takes the rest from your card. That's why it shows in some places as 235 sent to Currys.

16GB should be enough for web browsing. I have an older model with 16GB, use a NAS to store movies etc offline and Google Drive for documents which works well. Apple are very good at charging a king's ransom for incremental upgrades to RAM, I will never give them the pleasure of fleecing me that way!

Something PAYG that doesn't expire so it can live in the ipad for emergencies and, if possible, be used abroad.

Holiday is one of the only times I'll use the ipad outside home - you can use the same SIM abroad too with some effort, i.e. credit the SIM and then buy an add on from the credit (I'm not sure what the add ons cost yet).

Looks like the £2.99 / 48 hours / 500 MB is an "add-on" too (add on purchase is a pre requisite for feel at home on PAYG).
Purchased mine via the eBay app and the discount worked.

Why don't you check your PayPal account first, as posted Currys takes full amount from PayPal but the 20% is calculated so you will pay 20% less - stop scaremongering
It's not a mistake as price is ok'ish, only cheap due to ebay 20%
Took full amount for me too, maybe as I changed from bank to CC but didn't notice a change in amounts, I've sent message to cancel and voucher won't work work now which suggests it has been used
