Old, tired, run down, in desperate need of refreshment, takes real effort to get on (you have to wait ages and even then you might not get in if it's decided the ride's not working). Legoland is much the same, too.

Chessington had lots of weekends and summer holidays, Alton Towers didnt but i got a half term ticket. So the answer is no but considering the price it may be worth risking it.

It literally is just 2 tickets. So for a family of four you can't collect two sets of tokens.

So would end up paying for two tickets.

Pretty sure you can go in alone, after all you could be meeting family there.

Personally I'd go for one of the 2nd day free deals where you pay around £120 for family if 4 for 2 days & hotel. This is what we did last year (Norfolk schools used to get an extra inset day in June for the Norfolk show so went then).

The rides always seem to stay open later than the park says so hang around until staff chase you out.

You'll want 2 days to do it in because it does get busy even during term time. If nice day the kids can spend hours just in the duplo wet play area alone. (pack swimwear/change of clothes & towels)
We had a brilliant time but on occasion the queues can be a real pita. Other rides & other times of the day we got on rides with no Q this was term time I wouldn't even contemplate it during school holidays, no way.

Oh and if you like wildlife the place is heaving with Red Kites, we got buzzed by one in the car park was very excited so were the kids fantastic bird of prey.

Submarine ride is absolutely brilliant

24 May 15 #18
It is old and tired. We had a good day (two days), but had to work hard to have a good day. The queues can be enormous, we didn't get on the big rollercoaster in two days.
We had the cheap hotel and two day package as well.

Plan your day a bit, get there when it opens and run to the furthest ride you want to go on, go on as many as you can as quick as possible, because very soon you will be in long queues for the rest of the day.
When it was very very busy, we had lunch, watched the show, looked at the Lego displays and went on rides with tiny queues.
Take a packed lunch, not only is the food terrible and expensive, but you will queue for ages to get it.

Oh yes, did you get the word of the moment "queue", get used to it :stuck_out_tongue:
MrAverage
24 May 15 #19
I'd echo the above, we've been twice on 2-day hotel packages found via HUKD. The kids love it, but by the time you've got in and been on a ride in the school holidays, every other decent ride is up to a minimum 45 mins queue with the popular ones an hour or more. Food is extortionate and poor quality. In summary, kids love it once they can get on!!!

I'm pretty sure you can't go in without a child. But double check. You can choose the date you want by joining sun plus you can either pay to join or collect 15 codes on the back of different date newspapers if you do this before the 10 news paper codes u can usually book a date or 2 before everyone else.

At the risk of getting shouted down, wait till just before school holiday, phone kids in with Vomiting bug. They're then not allowed back to school until 48 hours after end of sickness leaving you with 2 school days with nothing to do......

Well they're not allowed in school.....

(in our area 48 hour rile applies, should be same in most places as it's in the schools book of what to do with what illness. Incidentally if they have highly contagious conjunctivitis they're supposed to go to school CRAZY)

Flawless plan if you rip your kids' vocal cords out to stop them blabbing as soon as they get back.

To avoid queues get a Qbot - can pick the times you want to go on rides then (mostly)

24 May 15 #27
First off I have Merlin Pass (not renewed after prices went up in sale) so can go anytime I like to many parks, also have blackpool pleasure beach passes. Children were one and seven when we went. The place is run down, nothing much for either at that age to do. It really is for a narrow age group 3-6 maybe but then the q's make it pointless. There is nothing worth q ING for. Hey and you hardly see any Lego! knock it down and start again. Many many reviews say the Same.
bargainhunter666
24 May 15 #28
Seriously? I would hate to see the state of your house! It is extremely run down.

I got free tickets for my 6 year old and I with Tesco Clubcard. We ended up spending the money we would have spent on the tickets on two of their queue cut devices. I don't regret it though, the queues were horendous. We had a great time.

we went to legoland on 2 day hotel break they managed to lose our luggage so gave us free break with ultimate q bots for all of us, kids had fantastic time and watching the faces of people as we went to front of the enormous ques was priceless
Curlynob to jpe23895
24 May 15 #52
I know! We had q bots when we went. My son complained about waiting for less than 10 minutes in front of people that had been waiting for 40 minutes or more. Awkward!
horsepills
24 May 15 #39
We've been 4 times and had a great time every time - the kids love it. All the people saying its "run down" obviously haven't been to any other theme parks, as legoland is no worse than most (and the rides are good quality).
Queues have never been a problem for us as we bought a QBot each time, so sailed straight on each ride every time. That obviously involves spending more money though so mentioning it here usually results in cheapskates moaning about how greedy Lego is, etc...
bargainhunter666 to horsepills
24 May 15 #46
How wrong which is pretty obvious. I have been to loads including Florida Disneyland. It is bound to be run down compared to Florida but it is run down compared to Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Beach. Each to their own but paying more than this is a rip off.
jpe23895
24 May 15 1 #40
they are greedy the best qbots cost £70 each on top of what u pay to get in and extortionate parking fee

jpe23895
24 May 15 #44
yes agreed the base ones do the job especially if u go in school holidays when the queues are big , don't think many families of 4 would shell out £280 for the best ones, but they still try and screw every extra penny out of you when your there though
Cinn
24 May 15 1 #45
Just to clarify, you don't need to take children, We went yesterday, didn't take any kids - we just like lego. You need to have children under 15 with you to go to the discovery centre in Manchester, fortunately this is not the case in Windsor

24 May 15 #53
Just got back from there today, the kids liked it ( 4 and 8 ) we took them as a treat for doing well at school but they have asked to go camping instead next year - lol

We didn't bother with the q-bot which meant we mostly stuck to the parks\water park\smaller rides, managed to get on the pirate ship but after that most big rides were at least 45mins, was good fun but you really need to add £60 ( didn't realise you could share them? ) to a family of 4 for the q-bot if you want to go on a lot of rides or with the queuing you won't fit many in.

It's hard to expect any child to queue for 45 mins for 5 mins of fun then repeat for long!

edit - the staff were all nice, didn't try the food as we took picnic food so we could eat while queuing. Also the Star Wars models were great and well worth a visit, there is also one of the outdoor places selling beer but I felt too sick from the rides :-o
