Bet my store wont "have any" as they will be snapped up by the staff & their friends.

If so, just ask manager to get some from another store, could take 2-3 days. Just leave contact details. Don't ask to phone another store, no one will answer it at 12:00 on Sunday

You're correct, just been to Aldi Chelmsford to buy one for my son's birthday and they have all gone :disappointed:

Could be a good option for FPV racing quadcopters, cheaper than a mobius/runcam and 3 year local warranty for when the inevitable happens

I'd stick with a cheap, reputable camera like the SJ4000. I bought one last year and and it's great. You could get them for £50 back then but there's a new one out so they'll be even cheaper

The new Yi Camera is what I went for. You can pick them up for about £50-60 with express post from China (5-10 days). It's my fav new thing, but no hardcase/waterproof housing. But the quality alone is worth that extra cost.

I just bought a genuine sj4000 wifi off ebay fo £62. Just make sure you search for sjcam sj4000. Genuine sellers will tell you how to spot a fake in the description/listing. I hope that helps

Not sure if 30fps is enough for an "action" camera?

Films are recorded at 24fps and action scenes seem too look okay.

I have 3 SJ4000s do another +1 from me. the quality is ridiculously good for the £60 price tag and they come with a load of accessories. Also fits all of the go pro accessories you may want to add later.
1080p 30 fps is perfect unless you want to do slow motion stuff (which I don't) so all good.

Therfore 720 was not good enough for modern television. You need 1080
Things in the box
Small brown box.
1x camera
1x micro usb cable
1x Chinese manual
Sadly it doesn't come with a protective housing. They just released an unofficial 40M waterproof housing, mist shops release the 10th but some are selling early.
Edit;
Just noticed I mentioned the no housing above.
I grabbed an early released housing off eBay for £20, should be here Monday (UK stocked), usually £15 ish with priority post from China.

I don't believe they are. I did see batteries on ebay for the camera. And a few other sites had the batteries for stock for about £4-8

I searched for "yi camera" on the site for camera and accessories.
Just because a film comes out of post production mastered to 24 fps does not mean that it was captured at 24 fps, look up the Arri Alexa, Hollywood's favourite camera and notice it can do a lot more than 24fps, this is for a very good reason - capturing action without excessive motion blur which obscures the action. Repeat for the Sony f55, any camera by Red, the Sony f35, fs7, f700, f100 etc etc. if you want a clear example of a movie with easy to notice footage that was not captured at 24fps, watch the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

Apologies for being needy, looking for a budget action camera for messing about with in the pool on holiday, just wondered how this aldi one compares with something like this:-
To my untrained eye the one from Currys looks like a good deal but i know nothing about them. Any help/assistance much appreciated.

There are better ones out there that are worth paying a little more e.g. Xiaomi Yi. Full 1080p HiDef for £52 from very good Chinese company that makes phones to compete with Apple in China. http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_153557.html
If you're looking for a cheap camera, I would suggest the Yi Camera, but it doesn't come with a water proof housing (another £13-20). But there is a lot of attention for that camera. But to save money is to import it from China.
With the 3 year warranty thats actually quite a good deal.
I was looking at one of these but i think ive changed my mind now.
Is it the vivitar though as the picture quality is pretty crap.
1080 and i do prefer the barrel design for putting on ma bike or ma hat but its from china hmmmm bit of a risk its the 3 yr guarantee that might be the clincher.
I'd like a camera for things like festivals and adventure training sessions like coastereering.
Many of you suggested the SJ4000
And in very impressed looking on YouTube. My only concern is... Is there better for a little more cost? I'm talking within £20 of not how do I identify a real Sj4000 than the many possible fakes on eBay?

To answer my own question I managed to get one (Northampton, Harlestone Rd) and it does.
The store had a single empty box on one of the checkouts next to other electrical stuff that has never been sold. If you didn't go in especially for it you probably wouldn't have noticed it. I asked about it and they said they were keeping them under the tills so you had to ask the cashier for one. Probably why there were still some left last night.

I tried at lunch to get one and all sold out. The guy there said they only get a handful of these items in stock, and are usually sold out by within an hour after they open. I suppose its to keep stock levels down, but for people that work through the day its no fun missing out.

got one today.. when to sutton in ashfield store on my way to work and they where just putting them on the shelves
quite surprised by them.. good video for the price.. waterproof case is great.. only issue is the screen and the quality of the camera but for £30 I'm well happy.. anyone know where to buy accessories?
I looked around aldi twice for this camera, and could not find one, there was not even a glass cabinet the electrical stuff is usually in at most stores at the Netherton branch.Asked as I was paying for a couple of other items, and there kept behind the till. So I had one,not used yet tho.
