This is one of the best SIM only/redemption deals I think I've seen - would go very nicely with the recent £10 Nokia Lumia handset!
If you take out Vodafone's "Red Starter" SIM only plan for £15.30 (12 month contract), e2save are offering £136 via redemption. Just set a reminder in your calendar when it's due (details are on the website) and bob's your uncle! I've used e2save before for cashback and never had any problems. Never had one rejected.
Additionally, there's £5 quidco for SIM only contracts through e2save (which is basically a month free). TCB are offering £5.25.
The sim itself gives you unlimited minutes and texts, and 1GB of 4G data. Given that it's Vodafone, tethering is also included, so this actually works out cheaper than the 1GB/month tablet plans!
There is a simiar deal for O2, but you only (ha!) get 1000 minutes, and it's an extra 70p a month before cashback.
Great price - I am paying £10 a month for this on a Vodafone redemption deal.

I'm paying £10/month on giffgaff for 1GB 3G 500 mins unlimited texts. This is £3.99 and 4G? (Although I don't have 4G phone.)
Seems worth getting this and going back to Giffgaff when year is up, am I missing something?
Also does the O2 one get any network benefits?

22 Apr 151#23
Smartphone is a smartphone technically - so you shouldn't need anything special. I started out with a normal smartphone plan on Vodafone and moved to an iPhone, it didn't require any special tariffs. The only time I could ever see that being a thing is if you needed BlackBerry BIS (which is virtually obsolete now anyway).

You can get 30 days sim only / PAYG on various networks for around £10
Giff Gaff / Sainsburys etc with no catches or worry about going over your limit by accident.
Redemption deals are ok when getting an exceptional deal but this IMO isn't worth the hassle as you will be stuck with Voda for 12 months.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. It seems like they put it there for the benefit of those who actually bought insurance, and doesn't apply to other people.

That cashback redemption seems a lot of hassle. £192 saving compared to £100 automatic on the biggest o2 contract for the sake of remembering to send them five bills and it all going smoothly. The last time I bought a iPhone from carphone warehouse I was suppose to get £80 Quidco and I never did receive it so I'm skeptical of these types of deals now.
bma1445 to sparc
23 Apr 151#35
The only thing you have to do is to remember to send the bill off (or upload it to your account) to prove you still have the contract.
Quidco, as always, is never guaranteed, so I'd never rely on a large amount of quidco. As long as you send the bills off on time, this will be guaranteed.

From memory, O2 just slow you down to dial up speeds (makes it pretty much unusable). Vodafone charge £5 per extra 250MB, or if you call them in advance they'll add it as £5 for 500MB, or 2GB for £15. Vodafone should let you "cap" it though, so it simply stops working.

Does it void the cashback if you port current number to the new cashback contract? how e2save they know its the same contract you took out given it will be different numbers?
Eyodaa
28 Apr 15#47
Haven`t done cashback deal, however if you log in to e2save using your order reference you have an option there to change your number ( update your changed number)
Q: What happens if I change my address or mobile number after the sale?
A: Once your address or mobile number has been changed, you need to visit your My Account section and select the 'My Personal Details' tab to update your details. If you send in your bill to claim and the address and/or mobile number do not match those on our records, your claim will be rejected.

Stupid e2save claimed to have dispatched my order on the 23rd, Phoned yesterday for an update, Phone back tomorrow after 5 working days and we'll either get you to collect a sim from CPW or post one out special delivery so they says.
So today no sim, Gets an email:
"Due to an unexpected Royal Mail delivery service delay, your Vodafone Pay Monthly SIM Card will be delivered to you within the next 5 working days. If you do not receive your order after 5 working days please contact us on 01509610888 We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience. Kind Regards, e2save.com"
Phones them up again, Apparently RM didn't collect the sim cards, Basically they're to lazy to put them in the postbox, Not impressed.
I was reluctant to get one from CPW because it may complicate the cashback deal.

You upload the bill online, so they don't say they haven't received it. And you say they hope you forget about it? Simple - don't forget about it. In return for a little work, and a couple of calendar reminders, you can have a cheap mobile deal for a year.
