Been on Medion site every day for about 3 weeks trying to get a decent spec refurbished PC for £300 budget.. Think this one qualifies? Sign up to their newsletter to get another £10 off..
I havent bought yet. Still trying to find out from them how I get the OEM copy of Windows onto my SSD from the HDD provided.

when you clone the drive its copyed over

if you buy an ssd, a cloning software is usually provided. The cloning software usually clones every bits on a specific partition including MBR and your activation, basically hassle free

Just bought one, always usually build my own so worried about noise and future expandability but I'm sure it will be fine.
I probably won't be able to get it up and running for a week but if the PC is still available I'll fire up some snaps and specs.

if you want complete silence, the best way is to build it yourself, get PSUs with fanless modes and huge heat sinks with low rpm fans

Great spec for the price especially those that don't want to diy, heat added.

I bought one too, seems a decent price for the spec especially with £10 off for signing up to newsletter and the 4.2% topcashback. Works out around £278 according to my iffy maths. Some say you cant upgrade Medion. Never done it, whats the best to buy an how do you install an SSD on it, any advice gratefully received?
HPMan to wallychops
20 Apr 15#17
I use an application called NTI Echo which you tell it the source HDD and the destination HDD then the PC reboots into a bootable Linux shell then copies the HDD to the new one, its failed on W8 though despite showing as compatible, we'll see how this goes as I am looking to fire in an SSD to this machine. I'll post up specs of what you actually get once it lands.
If the mechanical HDD in this Median is 7200rpm I might not be in such a rush to swap HDD.

I'll let you all try out swapping in an SSD first and let me know how you get on. haha

I dont need a better graphics card for my purposes but my son is now asking if it can be upgraded on this Medion for his gameplay, anyone know if its possible and to what?
xela333 to wallychops
20 Apr 15#23
Not without changing the power supply too. The included card is not bad tbh but is low power.
alexmurphy01
20 Apr 15#20
I bought one - as someone else said, you can't get this kit together for under £300 so it's a rare instance where it's cheaper and lower risk than building yourself. The card is some OEM monstrosity but it should do the job for midrange settings on 1080p.
Have a few concerns with the B grade and this odd thing I've heard about not being able to upgrade, but I think it may be hearsay - looking online I found a German review for this with a different gpu and it said it was fine for upgrades. There were medion desktops a little while back that had a backwards BTX boards in them which I think were a nightmare to upgrade.
I get mine in 3 days, I'll come on and let you all know what it's like!

Thanks would be very much appreciated. Googled it and the card doesnt seem rated at all for gaming on Youtube but dont know how much to rely on these and I know nothing about such matters. Dont want to get his hopes up and at the same time not sure I want him gaming on my PC!

Changing the card may make the PSU unable to handle it so you should put all the specs via a PSU calculator from new egg to see how much it will really cost.

Will this graphics card be OK for skylines?
alexmurphy01 to eyebaws
20 Apr 15#25
I can't see why not, my 4 year old laptop runs skylines decently (OK fps on med settings, smooth on lower settings) and this thing walks all over that.

20 Apr 15#26
I have bought one of these as well to see if I can get back into PC gaming. I'll buy more powerful one if I do and use this as a general PC. Hopefully everything is ok as the spec looks pretty good for the price.

I'll probably use this guide when it does come for SSD..
Would it be a straight swap, is the 750ti compatible? The 750ti requires a minimum 300w I believe so PSU should be okay there just

I got mine delivered this morning at 10am. It wasn't the usual DPD service where you get a text and email giving you a 1 hour delivery window. The PC was at the hub in Germany in Tuesday as well then it was at the Oldbury hub in the West Midlands yesterday and arrived today. It's looks brand new apart from some dog eared documentation. Obviously a return from a customer but it works perfectly.
Rossmor40
23 Apr 15#40
Minimum system specs say it requires a 300w psu but looking at a lot of the 750ti tests the power consumption is pretty low. As low as 62watts in some tests.
Guess that means it wont be arriving for me tomorrow :disappointed: Saturday is no good either as I have sent to my work. Thought it would be OK as I would have the DPD text/email but no good if not even getting that...

Update, went to set it up, cue bleeping and no boot up, hardware problem. Checked all the internal wires, repeatedly removed and reconnected the RAM, graphics card, same bleeping. Phoned Medion and it is having to go back. They wont send a re[placement until they get this one back and then its 5 days delivery and to return, I have to wait for a snail mail letter for my return code.....not impressed!

had same problem phoned them up its because the on board graphics card has been disabled you have to use the horizontal graphics slot plug it in to the hdmi to your telly trust me it works I was very annoyed because there was no mention of this in the instructions when I phoned I asked where this information was and was told 'I'm telling you know'

There's a hdmi socket that's horizontal and one at the side call dvid or something similar just to check it's working plug it in your telly using a hdmi it will start straight up

It doesn't have to be hdmi BTW had use the connection at side or it but make sure it's the hdmi that's closer to the top

Okay thanks for your help. The scant instructions I have said remove that plastic plug if necessary! That was clearly the issue BUT I have connected to my monitor via HDMI to the horizontal slot rebooted and the bleeping stopped but still not seeing anything on my monitor after waiting for ages, what next!? I am sorted thanks. Had to switch the monitor to HDMI manually even though set to auto.

My tower was brand new, plastic wrap still on the front and none of the documentation had been opened previously. All still sealed.
Now to attempt cloning my HD to SSD.

If anyone is interested, I picked up an Asus geforce GTX 750ti oc at a reasonable price and installed it in this Medion no problem. 2 minute job with a 2 x molex to 6 pin PCLe socket converter cable. Reasonable gaming performance now. I did receive one with a 450w PSU.

If anyone picks this up I am having issues installing an SSD as my boot drive on this PC. I have cloned my Windows 10 OS onto my SSD and my file manager can see it, but is it just me, I cant figure out how to get the BIOS to recognise my SSD? It lists it as present on the summary screen, but I have tinkered with various settings but it just doesn't list it in the boot manager. Any one got any tips? Thanks
