Large stores only for now, but this deal will be coming to ALL stores in three weeks time.
1 x Chicago Town stuffed crust limited edition (pulled pork) Takeaway pizza
1 x Coop Garlic Baguettes twin pack 310g
1 x Coop Potato Wedges bag 750g
1 x Coop Onion Rings bag 454g
1 x 1litre tub of Mackies ice cream
All of this for............ A FIVER
I'll do some digging and update the post with pack-sizes / varieties. Stores are receiving stock from today, so if you ask them then they'll probably know about it by now if its going to be available in your store.
The pizza is usually about a fiver, the ice cream about £3.50 and the other three coop lines are a quid each, so you're laughing.
Combine with staff discount or NUS extra discount for 10% off and pay £4.50
Remember, not live until midweek next week!
Edit: See post 110 for the advert
+++++
Confirmed as live and purchased
in a few, what seem to be "local"
co-operative food stores fyi.

It was relevant to me when I saw the advert and had my phone in my hand. I don't knowwhat kind of advertising or availability it will have, just giving a heads up on here to anyone who might want to look out for it next week - in the same way that I'll mention it to any mates whom it might be relevant to.
Appreciate that its a bit early but its a good deal and shops don't typically advertise deals in advance of their launch date to avoid causing confusion and wasted trips to customers. So if we wait for them to announce it then you'll have no notice at all and you might find that an offer like this is massively oversubscribed and availability dies out during the offer period. Especially when you consider the coops potentially hampered buying power since it's various business failings and setbacks in recent months and years?
It might also influence peoples weekly shops (its all frozen remember) if they know in advance that there's a better deal coming?
It all kind of makes sense to me? Granted it would be embarrassing for this to become the hottest deal of the day when its not even a deal yet, but there's no harm of that with the community of cold voters that advanced deals like this usually attract!
:-) hopefully you'll notice this deal out of the corner of your eye when you're out shopping next week and think of me haha

If is just the pizza, 1 side and ice-cream it is a realistic offer. The ice cream if it is 1L is regularly on offer for £2, side for £0.50-0.75 and the pizza for £2.50 (half price). I personally do not eat this pizza so I am making a guess on the half price offer.

Had the pulled pork pizza last night. Wasn't anything great, pretty disappointing to be honest. Didn't taste too much like pulled pork and a bit too sweet (maybe from the bbq sauce). And the damned stuffed crust was half unrolled! Wouldn't get it again, the others in the range are so much better

Fully agree, had this pizza last week and whilst i do like pulled pork, the pork on this was just a funny texture for me - maybe as it was on a pizza rather than in a sandwich etc but would not buy again. Also the BBQ sauce done the overall taste no favours - if there were other varieties of the stuffed crust pizza in this offer then i would be all over it as great price

Sounds great but THREE times (!!!) I have bought pizzas from them with mouldy bases. This is a result of defrosting. In small Co-ops this rarely happens as they quickly can return stock to the freezer. The larger stores are poorly laid out and leave the stock on the floor on decanted trolleys for longer than the 20 minute cold chain rule.

16 Apr 15#184
I'm not, but do like veg with meat or something that is tasty
but why do multi-nationals still insist on advertising
things that are just not going to happen..
The co-op's out of touch kitchen..
The normal, everyday, work 18hrs a day to survive
and have no time to prepare the above meal kitchen..
This meal-deal might or might not be full of old crap and stuff
that may or may not be bad for you.. but in the light of real day
it is a bargain price for what it is and it is not made up of as
much crap as some other brands cheapo lines!
On a massively big plus bonus side note, the Mackie's 1ltr icecream
in this deal, is super delishious and worth filling up a small freezer
with for summer and bbq's just on its own

To me that looks like it covers quite a bit, and you can throw in any other random ones you like but I don't think you'll find one item of food that covers every single vitamin or mineral.
Why not just hold your hands up and say 'I hate frozen pizza' instead of trying to convince people it's junk food.
Shaydog
14 Apr 152#137
Fruit, veg, nuts, grains and pulses in their original form are foods high in nutritional value, this stuff is all highly processed and relatively low on macro and micro nutrients, antioxidants and phytochemicals. This is why when you have eaten the lot you still feel snacky as your body has taken on board loads of calories but not the correct nutrients required for growth maintenance and rebuilding of the body.

Healthy/unhealthy debate aside, its still good for a Friday/Saturday night dinner with a film or a football match!
People don't need to live their entire lives by one rule......its ok to have fun sometimes too!
Buying this deal every day for three weeks would be Ill advised, but im sure your brain would have communicated mealtime related tedium after the first few rounds!

14 Apr 151#140
Ah.. interesting..
I have been mining various theories for the obesity epidemic and this is something I was zoning in on. I know my body 'craves' certain foods when low.. the most obvious of course is water, but I also know when I'm low on Iron, B C or, D vitamins... others are harder to quantify but it makes sense that the body yearns more calories to acquire sufficient quantity of the spectrum of nutrients required...
It's just got a lot more going for it as a theory when compared to, for one example, sugar = poison (Lustig), you can always find exceptions to these sorts of theories..
Fits in neatly with the research on nutrient quality of food too. The one major paper I've seen on this cites an overall drop in content, plus changes to the spectrum.. that's before you even look at eating habits
SuperDan, just having a discussion I don't think eating 100% clean at all times is necessary..
SuperDan
14 Apr 15#141
What about things like A-Z vitamin tablets? I take one in the morning and it claims to provide 100% of your daily recommended intake of many of the vitamins and minerals needed by your body.
Ive always taken them, they are probably just a waste of money but I think they help in the immune system department, however they've never done anything to stop me being snacky and getting fat lol.
JamesSmith
14 Apr 15#142
Shaydog probably has more insightful comments, but trials have shown vitamin tablets have a negative effect..
Obviously if you're super deficient in a particular vitamin, it's better than being depleted
But there's something going on with the unnatural isolation and extraction of vitamins and gut absorbtion
As a vegetarian I take B12 sublingually, as I find I don't assimilate enough from tablets. This has been confirmed from blood tests.

Absolutely mate,
I eat this stuff, its associated with fun things football, movies and so on so why not. The only real issue is if you view this as 'normal' food to be regularly consumed, do so and your body will start to both get fat and starve simultaneously.
If you offer this to our closest non human relatives wild Rhesus Macaques or Chimpanzees they would flatly refuse to eat it. They eat an average of 200 different organic whole wild foods over the course of a year, one sniff of this and they would detect its relatively worthless nutritional composition and stick their tongues out.
Eat a large bowl of clean muesli in the morning, 5 pieces of fruit and 5 portions of veg through the day 5 days a week and you'll be ok to consume whatever you want after wards within reason.

The obesity epidemic is caused by eating too many calories, and the reason for that it's simply too easy to over eat. You can look at genetic studies etc, however they obfuscate the simple fact that eating more than your body requires means your body stores it as fat. Food portions are larger than ever now. Supersize me etc. It's no more complex than this. Take a simple app such as MyFitnessPal and monitor your calorific intake and you'll see it's very easy to eay more than you require in a day. Over eating becomes a habit rather than a feeling of necessity. A lot of over eating can involve eating foods or relatively poor nutritional value, but regardless of nutritional value, more calories = more fat.
You could eat the food in this deal and still not become obese as long as you don't eat more than your body requires.

Can we bring an end to the eating habits and what is good and bad for us and concentrate on the deals that this site is for. It gets a bit boring after a while and I'll eat or drink what I like thank you all. Now the fitness freaks can disappear to their own forums, Good Night.

This is part of the Co-op's healthy eating initiative.
Opening post

:-) hopefully you'll notice this deal out of the corner of your eye when you're out shopping next week and think of me haha

the rest of the sides are £1 or less, less really like .62, .78,.90 (tho i cba with math), and by the time your done with that 4 item meal, who has room for ice cream any ways
The Chicago Town pizzas are £2.50 when on offer, Mackie's ice creams are £2 when on offer...so you're saying you can get garlic bread, potato wedges and onion rings for 50p?
Possibly, or he might think of you next time he does something prematurely ;-/
After browsing through the comments, high horse springs to mind.
Grow up, no-one cares if you think your physique is too great for a few carbs/fat or whether you think you're too good for a frozen pizza.

People don't need to live their entire lives by one rule......its ok to have fun sometimes too!
Buying this deal every day for three weeks would be Ill advised, but im sure your brain would have communicated mealtime related tedium after the first few rounds!
I just think sometimes life is too short to be not eating frozen pizzas every once in a while !! (In before "probably shorter for those that do!")
Ive always taken them, they are probably just a waste of money but I think they help in the immune system department, however they've never done anything to stop me being snacky and getting fat lol.
