And do they assume you already have a bike frame to attach the pannier frame to?

I have just bought these and tried them out on my bike.. they are great 2Xpanniers for £9.99 ... great colour/ waterproof/ over the shoulder strap, which is fab for me and my shopping.. also two handles on the bags... they fit really well onto my back pannier frame and I am not kicking them when I cycle.... which happened with my other panniers....

Maybe I shouldn't have said 'terrible', they still a set of panniers but believe me, I have a set of ortliebs and the difference is like night and day in my opinion. What made me react was the comparisons being made with the Ortlieb's above as though they were one and the same.
The Ortlieb's are much more rigid, have a better locking mechanism and are just a lot better put together. I guess you shouldn't expect much for 9.99 but I think it's a bit of a false economy as they will fall apart, the quality of the stitching/connections/matterial is indicative of this in my opinion.

The quality of these panniers is terrible in my opinion when you put them side by side with some Ortlieb's. So please don't believe the pictures above.
I suppose I shouldn't have expected much for 9.99 but you're better off spending about 40 quid and getting something that will last.

Have to disagree, inspected them in the shop before buying and thought the quality was good enough for £9.99.
I,m sure Ortlieb,s will last a lot longer,if not overloaded the Lidl one's should also last a while.
And if i damage one its no big loss....

Three left this morning of the messenger bags, picked up a pair of white one's.
Waterproofing is very good with a red rain cover in a pouch at the bottom of the bag.
Max weight per bag is 8kg
Leaflet also mentions a 2yr gaurantee.

I picked up the messenger bag panniers this morning and helpfully there is a leaflet with all the sizes
Messenger Bag: 48cm x 24.5cm x 13.7cm
Pannier Bag: 35cm x 30.5cm x 16.5cm
Shopper: 41cm x 35cm x 17cm
shopping: 32.5cm x 31.2cm x 14.2cm
The messenger bags have sprung hooks at the top and a velcro strap mid way down for attaching to the pannier rack.

I'll just stick a new plastic bag liner (aka thin rubble sack) in my 30 year old Karrimors. Ortliebs might not be tough enough for me to risk dropping all that cash on them.

They cost a lot more of course, you pays your money and takes your choice ;-)
FWIW this guy really rates the fabric Ortlieb use: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?doc_id=6434
I suppose it depends on how tough a life you think you'll be giving the panniers?

I've been tempted by the Ortlieb panniers for a while but I think these are worth a go for the price!

They are worth it, such good quality.
These may be worth a punt though at this price

Doubt they are the same quality, but a good design to keep rain from getting inside. From the picture looks about medium size,20L per side maybe a little less.
Should match the Ortlieb rack pack bag,

Without the clever fixings - just sprung hooks. Still very good value though.

In which case it looks like 40L capacity. I'm guessing that's combined volume.
They're copies of the Ortlieb 'Back roller Classic' not the 'rack pack'

It was. I can imagine a lot of people haven't come across pannier racks.
Those posts above are hilarious

...I thought it was a sensible question... the item is of limited use without one, although the same could be said for any deal posted without 'additional' items (games, dvds, coffee etc...)

and do they assume you have some wheels to attach to the bike frame to attach the pannier frame to attach the panniers?

How do these fix to the bike, does it come with the frame - or does it assume you have the frame already.
