Comparethemarket.com are taking over from Orange as the sponsor of free cinema tickets. Customers who buy qualifying products/services through the website will be able to use the new Meerkat Movies app to claim 2 for 1 cinema tickets on any Tuesday or Wednesday for a year!
Not sure if every online purchase qualifies or only selected ones but from looking at the app it seems that if you choose the cinema tickets reward then you can't claim a toy :-(

It's not really a catch is it? Their whole offer is based around being an incentive for their customers.
Complaining about that is like saying Vauxhall are offering free car insurance, but you have to buy a car from them to qualify ... Always a catch....

As a regular cinema go'er I weep for the predicted wave of naff, tired out meercat related, film themed adverts prior to the feature presentation. I will have to time my entry into the theatre even more carefully from now on.

Can anyone please confirm that I can use a MM code online at Odeon.co.uk?
If so, how would I do it? Do I add 2 tickets, as if I am purchasing both, and then input the MM code into the Promo Code box on the online confirmation screen?
Would it then zero the cost of one of the tickets?
What if I wanted to do 2 different tickets...one regular adult and one Senior adult...would it work doing that? (zeroing the cheaper adult ticket)...
Thanks for the help

The new rewards programme will be rolled out to the Nation on 3rd April. Consumers who are interested in accessing MEERKAT MOVIES membership can do so from 3rd April by purchasing a qualifying product with comparethemarket.com. This could be as simple as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy, which on average costs just £25.44.

Yes, and it works exactly the same as the Orange Wednesdays did! But now on a Tuesday too :-) This is a sensational offer.
"If you're an Unlimited card holder, don't worry, Meerkat Movies works the same as it did with EE Wednesdays, only this time you have two days a week in which to visit your local Cineworld and get two tickets for the price of one. Read more on the Meerkat Movies page."

Not true, for me anyway
CTM gave AA at £106 was cheapest. Quidco AA came up with £132 and £26 (possible} CB. Looks like AA just added CB onto premium. Maybe will work for other insurers if you've time to find out.

Im in the same boat. I dont think I was logged in CTM but after i purchased the policy from ERV showed otherwise. I also called them up and they confirmed the policy had been bought through CTM. I tried the app with my ref no but it didnt work. Sent an email to CTM and now waiting to hear back from them!!!!
glennhoward007
24 Mar 15#200
Wasn't sure if I'd logged In to CTM first time round when I did the ERV travel insurance and the reference code didn't work. So I did it again but this time made sure 100% I was logged in and then went to my quotes, checked again I was still logged in, and then went through and purchased again. Guess what?! It still didn't accept my reference! So that's twice now. Buggered if I'm gonna keep trying. I wonder why it didn't work for me and how I can get it accepted.?? Did it via IOS app if it makes any difference!

Hope this helps enjoy people. Thanks OP

Nice one, same here, also got a safari Oleg. Not a good deal if you can't claim a toy as well as I think you probably lose out on cashback from Quidco or TCB if you were to buy through them, which could potentially be worth more than a few free cinema tickets?
But gettings both toy and ticket deal is goods

Hmmm, has this happened to anyone else? T&C's states travel insurance is a qualifying purchase...
5. Qualifying Purchase
5.1 MEERKAT MOVIES is available to those who:
5.1.1 Purchased: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;
5.1.2 Switched: energy (gas and/or electric), broadband, home telephone or digital TV;
5.1.3 Obtained: a credit card or loan,
through comparethemarket.com.
5.2 Only the products listed above will qualify for MEERKAT MOVIES.
5.3 Comparethemarket.com account holders are limited to one active MEERKAT MOVIES membership per account.
5.4 A MEERKAT MOVIES membership is valid for 12 months from the date you made your Qualifying Purchase and not from the date you activate your account.

Cheers for that. Looks like Odeon have made a bit of a boob of this by giving different information to different people, and not expecting those people to talk about it. Wonder why the're being so selective? You'd think they would have a 'one size fits all' policy for something like this.

I haven't voted either way as didn't want to vote it down for my personal preference situation.
It looks as if it will great for the majority, but for me this is awful news! As a single guy/individual movie goer it looks as if I will continue to be discrimated against by having to pay full price :disappointed:.
In an ideal world I would have liked it to simply be 1/2 price tickets or...single movie goers get a popcorn and drink for free if they cannot take advantage of 2 for 1.
When I heard EE wednesday were ending, I was quite happy and thought it would force prices down generally on all days/times to try to get people to go. But this just means prices can continue to be increased as people will rush to go on 2 nights now instead.
I read something above that Bargain Tuesday is moving to Mondays. Is this true for Cineworld too? If so can you provide some information for me.
This is only time I would tend to go to the movies myself, so if this promotion is removed then it is unlikely that I will ever grace my local cinema again (unless of course I meet someone that shares my love of movies :-p).

This is the whole email I received...
We have some exciting news to share with you.
You may have heard from our Meerkat friends Alexandr and Sergei over at Comparethemarket.com, that there are some great weekly offers coming to your big screen very
soon; 2 for 1 cinema tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
As the Meerkats have Tuesdays covered, we are moving your ODEON Bargain Tuesday to a Monday; that way, you can get an offer on a Monday, plus Tuesday or Wednesday. How amazing is that?
As great things come, others must end... As we've had to make room for a Bargain Monday it will spell the end to our ODEON Première Club Film Fan Monday. We are sure you will enjoy our new great offers and still continue to earn and spend points on tickets, food and drinks.
So, here it is, “simples”...
Your last Film Fan Monday will be 23rd March
Your last Bargain Tuesday will be 24th March
Your first Bargain Monday will be 30th March
Your first Meerkat Movies will be coming very soon. Keep an eye out.
In the meantime, check out our latest film releases this weekend at ODEON.

Our local Empire do 241 tickets on Mondays by signing up to the local papers' film club on their website free of charge. No annoying emails and phone calls either!

From the main web page it says : "The new rewards programme will be rolled out to the Nation on 3rd April. Consumers who are interested in accessing MEERKAT MOVIES membership can do so from 3rd April by purchasing a qualifying product with comparethemarket.com. This could be as simple as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy, which on average costs just £25.44."

Jesus bloody Christ. What is with all the miserable sods on here today? Bought all the gear but missed the eclipse or something?
Also, the above post is utter tosh. It's not in ANY way like a Tesco goose chase. You don't even need to leave the house.
You also don't need to "repeatedly buy expensive products" (or repeatedly buy anything, infact) as has already been verified by those buying a single travel insurance policy at the cost of less than a portion of chips (or 4x txts to the holy orange Wednesday number, if you prefer).
Lets also not forget, it includes Tuesdays too.
thechicken
20 Mar 151#105
It looks like people can take out a 1 day travel insurance policy for as little as £1.37, and then get 2 for 1 for a year.
It's cheaper than a sim+texts, open to more people (or at least easier, for those not on orange/EE), and is also now two days instead of one.
I can't see how this isn't the better deal.
jewelie
20 Mar 151#104
This is pretty rubbish in comparison to Orange Wednesdays. Orange Wednesdays could be used by anyone via a PAYG SIM, which cost next to nothing (or sometimes actually nothing) to get hold of, and just 38p a text for each screening. As people here are discovering, you have to repeatedly buy expensive products to qualify for this, so not much of a deal. :disappointed: Heck, it's nearly (but not quite) in Tesco in-store only goose chase deal territory deal terms !

20 Mar 15#92
You could switch out a couple of those words and make it apply to any dea... A 40" HD TV being sold for £20 is only hot if you need a TV.
BOGOF cinema tickets free for purchasing something most people need surely can't be anything but hot.
I for one hope that it's not as popular as Orange Wednesdays anyway though.
jsty3105 to giorgiomrapetti
20 Mar 15#98
Likewise - I don't have any insurance other than Life. Orange Wednesdays was far more accessible and flexible.

It's a pity I've just got a Baby Oleg for renewing my car insurance through them, I'll have to check the house insurance through them next.
Just a tip for anyone using them, if you bought an orange sim for orange Wednesday's purely for that and are going to look for insurance on here, use that mobile number, you will end up with hundreds of calls from ppi or have you had a crash in the last 3 years. I wouldn't use your real home number either!

This deal is actually better than orange Wednesdays. As I suspected, and as others have mentioned it would appear you could just buy cheap 1 day travel insurance for ~£3. Cheers guys
Bought a 1 day travel insurance through site and won't accept for meerkat movies!!?
The new rewards programme will be rolled out to the Nation on 3rd April. Consumers who are interested in accessing MEERKAT MOVIES membership can do so from 3rd April by purchasing a qualifying product with comparethemarket.com. This could be as simple as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy, which on average costs just £25.44.
LOL OK CTM...
Odeon now do the bargain night on a Monday, so that's 3 cheap nights at the cinema now.
Have sent them a query through the website so will see what they say.
"If you're an Unlimited card holder, don't worry, Meerkat Movies works the same as it did with EE Wednesdays, only this time you have two days a week in which to visit your local Cineworld and get two tickets for the price of one. Read more on the Meerkat Movies page."

CTM gave AA at £106 was cheapest. Quidco AA came up with £132 and £26 (possible} CB. Looks like AA just added CB onto premium. Maybe will work for other insurers if you've time to find out.
Insurers are wise to your suggestion surely
Thanks buddy, appreciate it, id given up
Now you are expected to buy a product from a single supplier every 12 months. What a con.
*face palm*
But gettings both toy and ticket deal is goods

For car insurance, buildings insurance, contents insurance, travel insurance, oh, about probably......once a year!!

It doesn't say anything about a Bargain Monday.
worked for me :stuck_out_tongue: 12 months for £2.74, on holiday next week, i'm now insured on Norfolk Broads boat, win win :stuck_out_tongue:
Can I go on both Tuesday and Wednesday?
Your membership will give you one voucher code a week which can only be used once, either on a Tuesday or Wednesday. A new voucher code can be claimed from Thursday onwards for the following week.
I do agree that Tuesday and Wednesday not great but it's handy to have when available to go.
Take a screenshot and email to kids or friends to use =P
Initially I thought I was logged in when I bought the policy but my ref no is proof that it registered. I even spoke to the ERV rep who confirmed this.
What cinemas are included?
Thankyou rmonkey100. Just worked for me. Also just used the numbers of the policy number (excluding any letters) & there we have it...1 years membership! Thanks again
It was the 6 numbers part that registered successfully for 12 months.
Thanks for the advice!
It's cheaper than a sim+texts, open to more people (or at least easier, for those not on orange/EE), and is also now two days instead of one.
I can't see how this isn't the better deal.
I honestly do not see this as being as popular as orange Wednesdays.
BOGOF cinema tickets free for purchasing something most people need surely can't be anything but hot.
I for one hope that it's not as popular as Orange Wednesdays anyway though.
This does work out to be a better deal though in terms of overall value even if Orange Wednesdays was far cheaper to 'invest' in. (£5 Orange sim can last for a fair amount of time)
Think long and hard about yout choice...
It also valid for purchasesmonths made in the past 12 months
It's a pity I've just got a Baby Oleg for renewing my car insurance through them, I'll have to check the house insurance through them next.
Just a tip for anyone using them, if you bought an orange sim for orange Wednesday's purely for that and are going to look for insurance on here, use that mobile number, you will end up with hundreds of calls from ppi or have you had a crash in the last 3 years. I wouldn't use your real home number either!
Seems a decent deal. Buy insurance that lasts a year, get free movies that lasts a year. Repeat after a year.
Got a 1.60 3 days travel insurance, the activate the app by using the short quote number (not the long policy number).
12 month membership is on.:stuck_out_tongue:
You can generally get anything from £30-£100 cashback on insurance.
Cheers op for pointing it out
Thanks
If you cancel your policy or comparethemarket.com are unable to verify your qualifying purchase or switch, we reserve the right to revoke your MEERKAT MOVIES membership. We will of course let you know about this, a month in advance of it being revoked.

Other free options would be changing energy suppliers or applying for a credit card but for both you would loose out on potential cashback of (up to £30 for switching energy) and of cause a credit card application could affect your credit rating.
My car insurance is due shortly and Top cash back are offering £58 back, if I go via their site , thou this deal is also of interest to me also, be good if I could get both
Cretins.
Shocking
Credit card? Then just cancel the card after receiving it??
Have just activated mine and will be interesting to see if it works with a cineworld card the way EE did.
Yes it does
When will people learn that to get something free, you normally have to do something first.
Complaining about that is like saying Vauxhall are offering free car insurance, but you have to buy a car from them to qualify ... Always a catch....

Hot.
