I know what you mean elsick... £2K is a lot of money for 4 nights, but it's Disney and that's never cheap. You can certainly use much cheaper hotels etc. Never mind the money, it's the thought of 4 people sharing one bedroom that would do my head in.

Again, though... no one is being forced to go, but it's always helpful if HUKD'ers come on here and show ways of cutting the costs, so HEAT to the OP.

I have noticed that going through French and German web sites are cheaper for many things, like ferry... Ripping off the British with higher prices is a religious fundamental. Pay with credit cards that don't charge for currency conversion fees like one from Nationwide , Santander Zero..

I've done the same, saved £500 compared with the UK site so it paid for our meal plan. The French offer includes children under 12 for free, the UK is only free for under 7's. Mine are all over 7 so I think that and the great euro rate mase it a cracking deal. I used my Nationwide debit card (2% fee) as I don't have a credit card (& didn't want to wait for one) you can check how much it will cost with up to date exchange rate calculator on the visaeurope website. It also calculated the fee &was spot on!

Not a deal for us I'm afraid. we've booked 4 nights at the magic circus hotel and we're getting annual passes for just over £800. Combine that with Eurotunnel (tesco vouchers) and driving and it's about £900. That's at Easter with 4 of us, 2 older kids. The next time we go in the summer it will be £400.

Interesting that people are still keen on spending £1942 with all the doom and gloom in the economy.

Magic Circus is better than all the Disney Hotels except New York & DLH. You may be able to walk to the parks but it'll take at least 20 minutes from NPB.

Magic hours are available to annual pass holders so you dont lose out on that either.

I meant much bigger reductions than currency fluctuation which is in the order of 5 to 10%, typically bought things were at least 15% and 25% price differences e.g. Samsung1TB SSD bought £80 cheaper than UK price out of £300, ferry crossing 15% less, also pricing of hotel rooms is price per room, British radicalised greedy managers price it per person, so each person price looks much more affordable, rules about charging for children or single person supplement mean saving when booking abroad directly rather than through British run companies. British radicalised behaviour means a lot more things are fair games for chargeable extras which other countries would not accept because of their culture. e.g. Wonga, credit card charges are another area which on the continent deem as immoral and radicalised business practices banned.

I booked on Saturday for 4nights/5days for December ! return flights Manchester to Paris. Hotel Cheyenne bed and breakfast. and park tickets. For £698. ( a lot cheaper than what your paying ) no offence a better bargain in my eyes. That was for 2 adults and 2 Children ! I would rather stay in a 2* resort and save myself £1200!

Last year I booked park tickets on a french ticket site much cheaper than buying on any UK site, got 2 days for price of 1, second day had a 2 month expiry date. Used one day as that is all we wanted, came home and sold second day on eBay. Our day at Disney cost us a £5 :-)

This works out roughly the same per day for what we are paying to stay in Walt Disney Caribbean Beach Resort in Florida in the summer holidays (family of 4 including dining plan, Ultimate Park tickets, fully insured 7-seater SUV, flying with Virgin from LHR).

I booked flights direct with air France. I then booked the hotel ect with magic breaks. Staying in the hotel Cheyenne. Flying out on December 6th - December 10th.

When are you going OP? i got back 2 weeks ago from taking the Mrs for her Birthday, and the Newport Bay Club is surrounded by scaffolding and having renovation work. I originally booked for Newport Bay Club, and when i found out they are having renovation work done, but not telling customers, i rang and went berserk and got a free upgrade to Disney Hotel New York. Worth a try for you OP depending when you are going.

Thanks - was aware of the renovation works, and have been warned, although hadn't appreciated it maybe scaffolded!! Going late June - hopefully much of the work will be complete as it is high season then?? Have done DLH, HNY and SL previoulsy so wanted to try NPB this time - took a gamble on this one.

Did also find out Space Mountain is shut for all of 2015 while it is refitted which is a pain but one of those things I guess!

What did you think to the Disney Hotel itself? Looked great from the outside and would be nice to hear from someone who has actually been and their opinion. Is it worth the money? I loved Hotel New York. Disney staff in general are all VERY polite and seem to be very eager to help (apart from the security guys - they look at you like Clint Eastwood in a shootout just waiting for a reason to cavity search you but we went the week of the Paris attacks so can appreciate the security concerns)
Was a bit of a negative with Space Mountain being closed. That whole area is closed. As is the ride behind the Alice in Wonderland maze. But having never been before, we had 5 days of pure fun and excitement with no complaints and the Mrs loved it. Did the Ratatouille/Remy ride 4 times. Loved that one in particular lol

Not a great deal in my eyes. All year round it pays to look at the French/German/Dutch sites, etc and ofc keep an eye out for flash sales.

It also pays to book in advance for Disney and you can change to a better deal for free. Although if you book through a French deal, you can only change to a French deal.

Eurostar is a rip off through Disney, whatever site. Either use clubcard or book as tickets come out for as little as £69. You have to be quick for these though.

I drive and it is cheap as chips and easier. You get 6 full days, if you stop off, leave when you want....Just to give you an idea...at EASTER (so big school holiday) for SIX people, (3a 3c) we paid £1100. That included photopass and half board PLUS for 4n 5days. Tunnel via clubcard. That's not in the budget hotels either....it is SQL. Same key rating as this. This was a similar price too.

We looked at this hotel but reviews tell me the refurb will take a year...so wasn't keen myself.

As long as your happy that's what counts...I agree with the theme of the deal, but better can be had if you bide your time.

Did DLH once a few years ago - arrived about 18th Dec Amazing for Christmas - huge trees, Decorations etc Otherwise not sure how special it would be? Obviously great location - but pool is small. We did see a lot of characters in the hotel which is a bonus for many

We got a good deal when booking but fancied trying a different hotel this time. I understand NPB will become 4* at the end of the refurb so hopefully some of those improvements will be visible when we stay

Circus hotel has a problem with theft from rooms. I know 4 different occasions money and also a tablet went missing. One was my niece on a school trip, her friend left 2 €20 on top of her clothes but inside suitcase and when they went back to the room it was missing and the clothes had been moved.

OK we've never been but have been to Florida, stupid question but is it all in English? People say that the characters don't speak, but that's not really true as the rides and shows had plenty of dialogue in Florida, is it in French? The menus, etc?

I've just come back from Disney and paid £650 for 4 nights/5 days including flights and had half board as well, so personally don't consider the price you paid a deal.

The last time i checked the French website didn't work out cheaper for me as it didn't have the same offers available as the UK site due to it being tailored towards French customers

You can book on the disneyland.fr website and it is quite a bit cheaper again, i did this a few weeks ago, just use google translate to translate the pages, only thing you cant do is book eurostar from the UK, but you can book it cheaper seperate anyway. Also kids upto 12 go free with the disneyland.fr website.

We payed £800 last May half term, left on Acension Day to avoid French Holidays. That was five days four nights with two children, Davy Crockett Ranch which I found a lot less hassle than the hotels. We packed up the car with water, picnic stuff etc and saved ourselves a fortune on eating out every day and did Eurotunnel with Tescos vouchers. I kept meeting the same guy in the queues for characters and he was gutted as he'd payed nearly £3k for the same number of nights with a Disney hotel and their pool was shut!

I paid £1000 in August, height of summer and that included half board standard.

I have to say, I really like DCR.

It's actually cheaper to go to Florida than Disneyland Paris. Especially when you're there, €6 for a drink?! Personally wouldn't go back to Disneyland Paris again.

We stayed at Sequoia lodge on a half board basis and drove down. The price included the eurotunnel and park entry for 4 days. Check on Magic breaks. The place is absoloutley rammed at the weekends!

I managed to use a barclays debit card to book via the french site. Before i've tried with my lloyds debit and that kept declining, had to book over the phone (where they can manually change the country at end of booking)

When I just looked you had to choose what country in. So, lying and saying you're in France - won;t they query that at the gate? Won't the tickets look different to English ones?

Hi all; has anyone booked tickets recently? I've tried on the .fr and .ie sites a number of times over the last three days and every time I get "We were unable to finalise your reservation request because of a technical problem..." and a link inviting me to try again. It's not my card I've check with my issuer. Did this ok in December I think so wondering if there's some process Disney are trying now which is stopping this different country thing.

Just to remind:
Make sure when you select the travel dates you do not translate the page into English.
Put 'England' into the city box.
If you travel with the car, the tickets can be collected on your arrival so you can enter the park early.

Just call 0844 800 3243 and they will book it for you. My sons and husbands names are same and they've got misspelled by the computer and they have changed it for me today.

The UK booking line will charge me the UK prices though; I want to get the French prices!

For those following this thread I have just tried to book 1 day park tickets only via the French site using the exact same process and card as has been going wrong for me over the last few days and it's all gone though fine. Excellent.

Just got back, so some thoughts / comments for those booked / thinking of booking:

Newport bay is still being refurbed - some staffolding at the front is down but much still up. Reception area is also scaffolded. Shame but not a spoiler as minimal time spent in hotel!!
40 degree heat was bl00dy hot!! - drink plenty of water
Early hours is well worth using as queues got long - 100 minutes for Big Thunder Mountain and 80 for Autopia
Disney Studios - Crush and Ratatouille hit 100 minutes as well - try to get in a queue at opening time - Studios gates open at 9:30 but rides don't start until 10
Euro at 1.35 helps a lot - meal at Planet Hollywood with a 20% voucher (plenty online! - mine was from Destination Coupons) came in at £55 for 4 mains plus drinks
Selfie sticks have been banned now :-) - bag checks are in operation
I didnt realise until the last day, but you can get fast passes for more than one ride simultaneously (might just be me!!) so I had Big Thunder mountain and Indiania Jones fast passes about 40 minutes apart
Indiana Jones ride was empty at 11.30 on Friday morning - could walk straight on and rode three times without queueing!!
