Having just bought a new 3D TV over Christmas (In my case a Sony Bravia KDL-55W829B) I needed to get some more 3D glasses and the Sony ones are expensive at £50 for a twin pack.
Doing a bit of research it would appear that most of the newer TV's that use Active 3D technology also use the same glasses technology, just packaged up a little differently. On AVforums one of the members there ordered these same glasses from China and they cost £16.50 but he had to wait weeks. I've been searching around for somewhere in the UK and they are actually quite difficult to get unless you want to pay silly prices.
However Richer Sounds are offering these twin packs in store only for £21.50 which all things considered is quite reasonable... and in my case I'll be collecting two twin packs tonight, going to be watching Guardians of the Galaxy in 3D tonight!!
I know 3D is on it's way out, most people are not interested by it but I still like it and my TV does a very decent job of displaying it
NOTE: these are ACTIVE glasses, and I take no responsibility if they don't work with your specific TV so please check first.

You can get these delivered from Crampton and Moore for £20.99
Same price in currys too as got 4 pairs on boxing day for my LG active 3d tv. They take a while to pair though and never first time plus one pair refuse to pair at all. My only gripe about my tv is its not passive 3d. I may try new batteries just in case they have been sat in store a while.

Yes they are listed at Currys/PC World but their availability (certainly near me) seems very limited.
On the passive/active debate I personally find passive 3D not as immersive and lots of ghosting of images.

Yes they do. I have the same glasses and the 55" panasonic ST50. A little light comes in at the side of the glasses, but excellent in a darkened room. Good value glasses.

These use Bluetooth to communicate with the TV whereas the Panasonic ST50 uses infrared, so no they won't work.
After looking further it seems I could be wrong and these may work with both systems. Ask the seller.Sorry.

Referring to the lack of and|or new content for 3D, with 4K 3D devices coming in the Q3/4 all eyes will be on that content!
As for the deal, got some of these from RS, on a UE46C8000 and they are much better than the original battery hungry ones that were £50 a pair at the time!!
Very light, easy to wear and as of yet, not had to change the batteries once! :man:

3D is on it's way out? I hope not, ordering a 3D TV on Monday!!
Why buy cheap Chinese rubbish, when you get Samsung on your door step for just a fiver more (instead of waiting a month or 3 for it to maybe turn up) , now I call that a no brainer!!
3D is on its way out?! Where have you heard this? I love it. Find its much better on the tv than the cinemas.

Lost me a little derek, I was agreeing with you and just pointing out why there is no 3D content and that regardless of opinion, the manufacturers have twigged that native 4K [not the mickey mouse version presented today!] is the way to go, hence 3D 4K content and hardware ;-)

There's plenty of 3D content being released. Every major blockbuster is still released in 3D and comes out on 3D blu ray. The studios seem to like 3D as they still make the films. I've always read people being convinced it's a fad, but it's been around for years now and will be for some time yet.

I've had a 3DTV and 3D Monitor for nearly 3 years. The TV is active and the monitor is passive. Want to know how much I use either? Hardly at all. Regardless this deal is hot and gives me another set of glasses to use for those odd wonders that do come out. 3D's certainly not taking over in anyway, it would have happened by now - but it's a nice bonus.

My comment about 3D-TV on it's way out was just based on my own experience of being an early adopter of 3DTV, with my 1080P Panasonic 3D Plasma (shortly going on Ebay!). Back in 2010 it was almost impossible to get 3D films and I wasn't prepared to pay the extra £5 or so for a 3d Bluray. Things have improved a little but nowhere near as much as I had expected.
Don't get me wrong I really like 3DTV and that's way I bought one again, but the discs need to be the same price not priced so much higher.
By the way I can confirm that the Samsung glasses worked absolutely fine with my Sony KDL-55W829B. They are lighter and slightly smaller than the Sony glasses and as some one has mentioned the arms are fixed although you can snap them out quite easily for storage. You would have to be careful as I would say the Samsung's are perhaps not as strong overall as the Sony's, still £21 or so for a twin pack is better than 50.
I watched Guardians of the Galaxy tonight.... what a waste of two hours... all action, no substance - I am increasingly finding the Marvel series of films pretty tedious (although I did like the recent Spiderman and Superman films). The 3D presentation is in my opinion pretty underwhelming until the final battle scene's when the special effects really take off and are very good. I've also got Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Maleficent (watched both 2D only). I really enjoyed Maleficent and I bet it's going to look sumptuous in 3D.
If you want a few 3D samples to play with there are plenty on Youtube including these https://www.youtube.com/user/biohemmet/videos also try doing a search for just "yt3d" from your TV

Yeah that's what I thought but have been surprised, apparently it's displayed at half quality or something. I don't pretend to know all the technicalities but if it half the resolution then it's not really noticeable. What I would say though is you need to spend some time getting the display right... there is more information on AVforums, play around/tweak these settings and see how you go... https://www.avforums.com/threads/sony-w829-kdl-50w829-reviewers-recommended-best-settings.1869036/

Whilst on the subject, does anyone have any recommendations on 3D films ?
Never been interested in 3D, but my new TV (Sony KDL55W8) has it built in (Active).
I've had a play about & nothing really pops out (more in depth perspective), apart from an LG 3D Demo clip on You Yube which was amazing. I didn't realise 3D via you TV could be so good, yet every film/clip I've tried has been more perspective than picture dancing around your living room.
Any films actually do this which people can recommend ? I've got a revo running XBMC which has most of the 3D films out there, so I can try out any recommendations.

Having bought the TV we decided to buy some films... according to the Wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_3D_films (Thanks Klaus!!) Guardians of the Galaxy was shot in 2D, we also bought Maleficent which I really enjoyed and looks lovely but I haven't watched it in 3D yet. We also got Dawn of the Planet of the Apes... also really enjoyed that and it was apparently shot in 3D. Again I have only watched it in 2D so I'm looking forward to giving it another spin.
Dredd is a good film and shot in 3D (again I have it... just not got around to watching it.... will rectify that tonight!)
A Christmas Carol (animated in 3D) looks great and has nice 3D... lingering shots of things coming out of the screen and snow fall and candle effects.
If you enjoy motorsports (or Guy Martin) then TT - Closer to the Edge is a must, it's not all shot in 3D and some of it is added after in production but it looks great and the story is good too.
Monster House (Animated) was my first 3D BR and is much like Christmas Carol... put's 3D to very good effect.

I have these, they came with my samsung TV. Sorry, but it don't find them comfortable at all, and they slip about, due to the design. I also can't recommend having active 3D as opposed to Passive.
