A polaroid tv at this price isn't a bargain. It's called getting rid of stock nobody would otherwise buy.

They say you get what you pay for. So if you expect 5 years from a £700 TV then 1 year from a £140 TV seems fair.
Joking aside, its a Tele for £140. It's a punt I suppose. On the other end of the review spectrum will be people saying their Polaroid TV lasted a lot longer.
I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up at this price and skip it when it breaks. This TV is probably cheaper than the cost of a repair anyway. If it's bought as a spare room TV it will get less use and last longer maybe.
I would say take your chances and be prepared to lose £140. Or look at it another way, if it does last only one year it's cost you £11.60 a month for a widescreen TV, get another one next black friday and it's like a lease lol

They're all over that like flies on poo. Asda could put any old thing out there and because it's a big tele "40" cor blimey!" it will automatically sell.
Reading comments on here about build quality and whatnot is reassuring, glad I didn't bother getting involved in this madcap free-for-all.
But at least some people are satisfied with the deals, so some good has come of it

Really disappointed with it, didn't expect too much but it's garbage! The screen is loose and flimsy which I could've lived with but the picture quality is really poor. Doesn't state the contrast ratio but I bet it's something like 5000 to 1. It's all about the contrast ratio / dynamic range for my eyes but this is lacking in that department.. Taking it back and waiting for a better deal.

I spoke with one of the staff at my local ASDA about these TVs this evening. He said that particular store had an 18% return rate on these last year due to faults.
It is a fantastic deal but it may be worth keeping this in mind.

Can someone confirm it is a 720p tv (HD ready)? I checked it at the store this evening (area manager confirmed it is going on sale, as well as 50 inch LG plasma and 4k Seiki). Anyway, the quality of picture on this Polaroid was definitely worse than on other tv's, other ASDA Polaroid included. Colors were worse than on some panasonic next to it, but I was surprised to see that resolution seems lower as well. Now in the spec I also see HD Ready here: http://direct.asda.com/Polaroid-LE-40GCL---40-in.-LED-TV---1080p-%28FullHD%29/000522223,default,pd.html?dual=0 , but everyone talks as if it is fullhd. So wwhich is it? And how it compares to Sainsbury's £149 model?

The home and leisure dept will be be sectioned off and only people there for the black Friday deals will be able to enter that section of the store and those wanting a grocery shop are only able to enter that side of the store. You have to leave and re enter the store via the correct entrance.

Seems better in some ways with things like more varied file type support but worse in others because of things like one fewer HDMI port.
ASDA - Starts at 8am. I suggest you get there earlier though! Also, you will be handed a raffle ticket in the queue so there will be no pushing in allowed and there will be only 20 shoppers in at one time.
So I have already told you that Asda are involved in the event. We have been told Asda have this TV in their Black Friday event.
Also received a few messages saying the following are included
TVs includin 40 inch Polaroid led TV
Little tykes playhouse
Drills
Slow cookers
High chance of Frozen
Bikes
Barbie Castle
galaxy note tablet
A Rocking Horse
Fisher price car
Russell Hobbs microwave
Nescafe Dolce Gusto Piccolo Black Multi Beverage Coffee Machine
maybe it's halo (Xbox PlayStation etc)
I now also have photos from one of my AMAZING Asda insiders - Absolute legend

I think it's this one. The model listed on the asda site is PT2-40LED14 and this is P40LED14, so it might be an updated version of the one linked.

Seems pretty decent. Especially for that price.
Not in Newton Abbot, I asked the manager. Store is staying open (24hrs) and they have cordoned off areas for queuing WITH security guards and a ticket system...his words and not mine!!!
