get a free Nokia 530 and claim back the line rental £7.50 per month in instalments of £36.
250 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb of data.
Send your claim in line with the Cashback Claim Process below and we will credit you by cheque with £36.00 each time.

Claiming your cashback couldn't be simpler. You will need to send in your mobile phone bill at months 7, 12, 16, 20 and 24.

This will save you £180.00 over the 24 month duration of the contract. In effect this means that your average line rental per month over the contract period is £0.00 per month.

The required bill needs to be sent to Cashback Claims, Admail ADM4118, Loughborough, LE11 1YX and must be received within 60 days from the date on the bill. The bill must show your name, address, mobile number and tariff you are connected to.

We recommend you send this by recording delivery as we cannot be held responsible for lost items or claims that arriveoutside the qualifying period. We also recommend you keep your proof of postage.

Agree fully! If you are organised & don't think the company will fold, excellent offer (though I can see how P4U has dented confidence). What I fully do expect is the same deal posted on HUKD at different times can be iced or hot - look at the last deals on this exact tariff & cashback (I think at least 1 or 2 with this phone) - they got iced. Well done OP for getting a good deal out there for people to evaluate fairly. Credit to the others who tried to post this before as well (even if you did not see their posts OP - I am not saying you did).

Just copied the following from the E2Save website;

"Once you know your claim periods, you will need to send a copy of your network bill for each of these months to e2save.com.
You can submit an online version of your bill via your My Account area by clicking here.

Alternatively you can send your claims by post to:

Cashback Claims
PO Box 376
Southampton
SO30 2PX

Please retain proof of postage for reference"

The postage address is different to the one in the OP...and more importantly, it would seem we can send bills via the internet (saving on recorded delivery costs).
Makes this deal far more tempting .
Does anyone have experience with the online claims process?

You'd hope they'd be safe but never bank on it, the number 2 phone retailer in the UK went unexpectedly bust recently, Phones4u (and Dial-a-phone) and people lost their cashback.

I posted this same deal but from sister site mobiles.co.uk a few weeks ago and had some overzealous HUKD mod remove it without explanation and give me an official "warning!", but apparently now its fine to post!?!?? I'm losing confidence in this site.

Just a reminder to everyone that it's time for that final Cashback Claim #5 of 5 - ie your October 2016 Talkmobile bill.
Submitted my claim online via a PDF of the Talkmobile bill - online process looked to be the same as last time I did it.

Remember you have to give them 30-days notice to bale out of your otherwise ongoing full cost contract - and realise it goes back to £10/m after the first two years at £7.50/m - which was "discounted" although e2save hid that fact from us [it's a habit of theirs!] !

I got my PAC from them last week, but waited for this bill to come through today before submitting it to move my # - and close my a/c - elsewhere.

Just a reminder to everyone that it's time for Cashback Claim #4 of 5 - ie your June 2016 Talkmobile bill.
Submitted my claim online via a PDF of the Talkmobile bill.

However : note the e2save website has revised since February to include a registration system with password and you need to set up an account based on your order # and email and then clicking on an email from them and setting up an account password etc (need to remember your DoB & Postcode during the process).

Good luck! And if anyone has any ideas for as good a replacement deal when this one runs out... speak up

PS: 2.5hrs on and just had confirmation SMS that cashback claim processed and cheque due within 8 weeks.

PPS: 11/7 and cheque received as normal. So just the one final Oct 16 bills to claim on in due course...

Just a reminder to everyone that it's time for Cashback Claim #3 of 5 - ie your February Talkmobile bill.
Submitted my claim online via a PDF of the Talkmobile bill.
Note the e2save website, to improve their security, now emails you a link to access your a/c
ie you enter your original order# and either phone or email address and they EMAIL the link - mine arrived within a minute. (Cheque for Claim #2 arrived as promised.)

PS As usual - good news ie SMS and email confirmation of valid claim received within a few hours and cheque promised in due course.
PPS Cheque duly arrived!

re:Claim #1 : Delighted to report that having uploaded May bill PDF (with £7.49 inc VAT net tariff) about an hour ago, just had an SMS from e2save saying "...cashback.. processed... cheque should be with you within 8 weeks" so fingers crossed.

One ongoing TalkMobile annoyance: their allowance reports are only for the basic allowance ie 200m/5000t/250MB and don't include the "free" bonus 50m/-/250MB. Raised it a few weeks ago but never got a reply. Will hassle them again.

Got my 7th bill today submitted online but noticed they gave me an extra 1p discount to my plan making the bill £7.49 its always been £7.50 before this, hope this is not a sneaky way for them to try and invalidate my claim.

Anyone had the same on this months bill from talkmobile? or got their first cashback already from e2save?

As we're getting close to May and that first Bill Month #7 for first £back...

1. Talkmobile have updated their online a/c system and now generate a nice PDF of your monthly bill that'll be ideal to submit online to e2save next month !
PS: You may want to check your personal data - my address had got mangled during their database update!

2. Which mobile #'s bill though - ie get your mobile phone number right!
I just checked into my e2save account and realised that it still had the 074... mobile phone number that they allocated to the Nokia phone SIM before I ported my own 079... number during purchase - and I feared I was going to have issues when next month I sent them a TalkMobile bill apparently for the wrong number.

The good news is that the e2save system lets you update your number readily - ie using the "My Number" menu heading as marked in the image below.- this shows my a/c just after I have updated them with my ported number (they send a validation SMS after about a minute's delay to validate your ported number)

Hope this helps people

Just to help anyone visiting the Talk Mobile website and finding they can't access 'my account' due to some nonsense about site rejig and which has been going on for days now. I tried speaking to them - got through to South African voice - who couldn't help and said they hadn't been told how long before rejig completed.

However I did find the direct My Account link, which I should have bookmarked earlier!

(Remember Month #7 ie Bill Dated May 2015 is the first submission to e2save to get first £36 cashback. Still on Bill #4 mid Feb 2015 currently and if you haven't got this in your 2015 Diary now's the time to do it + Bill #12 for October 2015 too.)

Everything's still fine... checked online today as my first bill was due 18/11 and pleased to say it shows the expected amount and allowances. Tip: It looks as if there's only an onscreen summary bill but there's a "PRINT BILL" or similar button in a heading on right side that opens a new window with a full multipage bill (that you can Print to PDF or whatever).

Tip: Android APN settings ie to ensure both data and MMS work - you may want to check your settings...

I thought I had done all my research - ie used the Talkmobile website to try to get my settings, only to find that despite the website very optimistically listing out every brand/model of phone 0 it just came up with 'nothing here for you!' at the end. So I went on to set my own up based on everything I could glean from their site.

Last night I received my first MMS - or rather didn't as despite my best technical efforts I hadn't done it right.

Did some more work and got a single APN set up that seems to be working just fine for Data & MMS and I thought I'd share it to help others - NB my phone is Android 4.1, your Android APN settings/options may vary. I am NOT saying my settings are 'correct' just that they work and are consistent with everything I've seen...

Depends where you live/use your mobile. Three is quite rubbish near Glasgow Airport, Glasgow Central Station and when at Alison St Glasgow. I've used O2 on the company mobile and it was great. But I do have to agree that Three has best Internet when you are in a good coverage area.

12 Nov 14 #139
Sorry no idea whatsoever. I fortuitously noticed that TMobile 'free' contract on here a year ago and it later come to my rescue after Ovivo Mobile's sudden demise. I was just ready to pay someone - eg Three £7/month to replace it - when last Friday I noticed this "Strange one" posting my sdoherty1000 and plumped just in time. The Nokia 530 phone is great for my curiosity re Windows Phone 8.1 and my thinking is that at around this £7.50/m level a Vodafone based MVNO allowance is 'competitive' so gamble/chance of the cashback is icing on cake [and remotely possible TCB £back too !]
[BTW my posting that you picked up on is currently in moderation as I edited it so much & added various links I think]

On a more positive side, summary of things you might want to do

Seems you will get your account number - needed for online access to your Talkmobile website account - via SMS about 24hrs after activation of your SIM. Otherwise ask for it...

Calling via 5888 [goes to call centres in Warrington UK, and in to S.Africa]:

1. Phone 5888 (it's free for us "post-pay", ie contract customers) to hear estimate of your monthly allowance remaining

2. If planning to use the SIM abroad, ask for international roaming to be turned on [don't forget to turn phone's data roaming OFF OFF OFF!]

3. Check if your adult/18yo block is on/off as you wish for your phone users/usage

4. If you want the default (?) £50 out-of-contract spending limit amended [this is NOT a hard cap, as for a MVNO apparently there's upto a 72hr lag even in the UK let alone roaming abroad!]. The minimum is £10 apparently.

Finally put in your 2015/2016 diaries the times to send in your bills to e2save for £back. You can find the months' bills listed out within your e2save online account.

Enjoy hopefully (very) low cost phone use [as long as you don't exceed your allowances!].

Yep the consensus summary [thanks to all the other contributors here] seems to be this...

Unbeknownst to us the £7.50 tariff that e2save sold us a 2yr SPECIAL DISCOUNTED tariff
ie regular Smartplan £10 @ 200mins, 5000texts, 250MB tariff [which appears on your online a/c]
but for 24 months with allowances increased to 250mins (5000texts) and 500MB
with a £2.50/m discount [any -£2.08 mentioned is ex-VAT] giving net £7.50/m monthly rate
and this is what will appear on your bill each month for first 24 months as "Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m".
[scenario confirmed by 3 x 5888 operators in S.Africa & Warrington yesterday/today]

Reassuringly my 5888 voice allowance report HAS already reported the full 250/5000/500 [though in reality, I'd have expected just a few days pro:rata to monthly reset date - on 15th for my a/c, with bill on 18th and DDpayment taken 1st].
[Annoyingly as posting this summary just received a text saying the FULL allowance - but the wrong 200/5000/250 one - is available to my 15th refresh date!]

I would expect 24 months bills will also reflect those allowances & agreed £7.50 net price after so many assurances.
(The only downside is that if they RPI increase the agreement, they MIGHT seek to base it on a £10 rather than £7.50. Though in reality we're talking say 3% of £2.50 difference ie 8p/month = take it on the chin IF it happens.)

So the deal essentially appears is ON in practice, just we've been at best "ill-informed" and at worst "misled" by e2save as to the nature of the £7.50 offer deal as NO MENTION was made of it being a £10/m contract discounted to £7.50 for the initial 24 month commitment (and 24 x £7.50 cashback'd!), and hence we've been getting frustrated/annoyed/angry at wrong/inconsistent information emerging!

Moral: just migrate away after 24 months and meanwhile hopefully remember to hold e2save to their cashback offer by using your e2save online a/c to submit bills as per their online timetable in due course. [consensus seems to be e2save will stick to their promise, as long as you also do the right thing at the right time and with Talkmobile/e2save both being CPW businesses both should remain alive (or dead) in tandem]

If annoyed by e2save's lack of clarity make a complaint to e2save, escalating it to formal complaint if not satisfied.

Personally life's too short and I'm just reporting the scenario to Ofcom so they know how e2save operate.
http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/complain/phone-and-broadband-complaints/sales/

PS
My feedback to Ofcom about the contract being sold as a £7.50 rather than a £10-£2.50 for a limited period contract has produce an immediate response that " As you were entered into the contract without being given all of the relevant information, this could be classed as mis-selling." So at least Ofcom are aware that Talkmobile [regulated] contracts are being sold on this basis, and by e2save [not regulated]. If you too feel you've got an deal you could live with (now that you understand it) but are aggrieved in any way by e2save then I would suggest adding your feedback to Ofcom so regulators are aware of market abuse.

PPS
Had email re-assurance too from e2save that no cashback problem re any potential tariff differences:
"...apologise for any confusion in the way that Talkmobile work there tariff, I can assure you that this will not affect your cashback in anyway."
So apart from e2save misrepresenting what they were selling ie £7.50 24m s/be £10 (-£2.50 for 24m), got what I applied for and just getting on with enjoying my allowances (still confirming at right higher level on 5888 announcements even after 'wrong allowance' SMS from Talkmobile) and hoping to get the cashbacks but accepting that part remains a gamble, not assured.

PPPS 15 Nov 14
On the day when my monthly allowances reset I looked at my Talkmobile website details. And it does now have extra area and entries to 100% reflect what now expected ie the £10 plan's 200/5000/250 allowances with adjustments for more 50 mins, more 250 data, and £2.50 less cost = all OKay.

think your getting a bit confused. I've already had £28.35 my cashback from topcashback(via e2save).

this deal did exist before. i done a similar one three weeks ago for "Samsung Galaxy Young Blue Refurbished"

i now intend to claim my line rental from e2save directly by Sending the following bills to us within 60 days from the date on the bill:

Month 7 -April 2015

Month 12 -September 2015

Month 16 -January 2016

Month 20 -May 2016

Month 24 - September 2016

should get all line rental returned, as i been doing for th last 12years

Oh dear! That makes it a case of e2save mis-selling as there was NEVER any suggestion it was a £10 plan discounted/enhanced for the first 24 months!
Spoke to 5888 again - Warrington instead of South Africa this time - confirmed it's a £10 plan with £2.50 off for 24months, with potential to renegotiate 2 months before plan end. ie e2save misselling!
The good news is a) remaining monthly allowances stated on 5888 are on right allowances b) it's £7.50 for the 24 months as contract stated c) e2save should be paying cashback d) but clearly MIS SOLD!
Just need to diarise PAC'ing in good time in 2 years. And as you say any RPI potentially on wrong base figure (though minor issue)

The deal is EXPIRED. It lasted a few hours that day. The idea of any Quidco/TopCashBack £back was a unguaranteed BONUS, and having tracked it's POSSIBLE it will be paid though as you say the networks INCLUDED are stated (implying those excluded). The real issue is the future potential (ie "a gamble") 100% £back from e2save where issues have been raised over tariff (and cost/allowances).

hi, i too have this problem, "£10 Smartplan with 200m/5000t/250MB" not the "Smartplan £7.50 250m 5000txt 500MB" that i signed up for.

i have emailed talkmobile a couple times asking them to explain.(blood out of stone comes to mind)
replied:-
"The £2.50 line rental discount will only apply for the term of your contract. After 24 months the tariff would increase back to £10 unless you contacted us to upgrade before hand."

they completely ignored my second question
"if there is an percentage increase with the RPI rate of inflation will this go on the monthly tariff of £10.00 or £7.50".

i have also contacted e2save who have not bothered to reply, only sent email:-

"Please tell us about your e2save experience"
they even quoted a customer service name who has never contacted me!!

i smell a scam!!

=======================

All a storm in a teacup... allegedly...

Spoke to TalkMobile again this morning. They are adamant that I really am on the "Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250 mins / 5000 txt / 500 MB." tariff and that the online account showing otherwise [ie £10 Smartplan with 200m/5000t/250MB] that I see is mis-presenting it, as essentially it's how the accounting is done - ie from a £10 tariff with multiple adjustments to reach the specially discounted £7.50 tariff.

They assure me that: [two things that will soon be crystal clear if true]
(a) the 5888 allowance status system will present the full/proper allowance; [had been at 0/0/0 but just dialled again and saying right 250/4999/500, well max anyway, as should be pro-rata'd, as they clearly told me, for first period to 15th]
(b) the bills will show the correct £7.50 tariff. [first due on 18th]

So in a practical sense ie that I am on right tariff, and will get monitored properly, and billed properly [all allegedly so far], that just leaves the issue others have raised re if e2save try to use it to wriggle on £back, so I've yet to see what e2save have to say about it re any interraction with cashback in response to my query yesterday. Though of course if, as stated, bill will show correct tariff that won't arise either...

Told Talkmobile I find it really incompetent that the system presents the wrong tariff online as that's all their relationship/contract with me is based on! [guess it's my fault I got worried ie for getting my account # prematurely to peek online, ie before first "correct" bill arrives] As their operator said to me has anyone communicated in writing/email/bill anything to say I was on WRONG tariff = no, just the online system display [which I should be able to trust/believe!].

----

Talkmobile, as an MVNO, has to comply with Ofcom "General Conditions" like any telecommunications provider to the public and is required to have complaints handling process that can be escalated to ADR (so if my allowances/bill don't match up to what I have been assured...) Their Code of Practice with those details is lurking in the T&Cs link in the footer on their website.

Incidentally that Code of Practice (apparently dated 6 Dec 13) states: "1. About Talkmobile Talkmobile is a mobile business operated by Talk Mobile Limited, part of The Carphone Warehouse Group plc., a European retailer and supplier of telecoms solutions (“CPW”). CPW are based in West London and have offices throughout Europe. In the UK CPW has contact centres in Acton, Warrington and Preston and has over 500 retail outlets. CPW is quoted on the London stock exchange." !

FYI: The Tariff e2save order confirms as:
Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250 mins / 5000 txt / 500 MB.

Such a tariff 100% appears on the live Talkmobile website at:
http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/all-plans
"•Smartplan 7.50 250m 5000txt 500MB"
and clicking that link provides details of the tariff costs out of plan
http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/all-plans/Smartplan+7.50+250m+5000txt+500MB

There is NO current tariff listed on their site at £10 with 200m/5000t/250MB as 'My tariff' on my online account shows!
Although there is an OLD tariff that matches

I am in the same boat. Was on the phone (5888) with TalkMobile for more than 1 hour today. The CS advisor had no clue why this has happened and kept insisting that I should go back to e2save on this. He initially tried to fob me off that this is a customized deal and they have no idea why it has been set-up up this way.

I then pointed that the "Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250m/5000t/500MB" is still available on TM website, so why have TM decided to offer this "customized deal".

After an hour of to-ing and fro-ing, I was told that he can transfer me to the cancellations team and I can cancel with no charge. Of course he did not tell me that the cancellation will have to go via e2save.

The cashback is definitely in danger as e2save will smugly point out that I decided to change the tariff mid-way so am not eligible of cashback anymore.

Anyone successful in contacting e2save on this?

The problem is that the tariff plan "Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250m/5000t/500MB" is still available on TM website and I checked it when I ordered with e2save.

ie avoiding reading this and my other postings over the last 24hrs as matters were confused and finally became clear...

NOT an isolated "mistake"! I too signed up for the Tariff: Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250m/5000t/500MB
and my online account (having found out my account number by phoning them and clarifying things like content blocks, roaming, account charge caps etc) is showing £10 Smartplan with 200m/5000t/250MB ie NOT what I contracted for.

Called 5888 to sort out what was going on... Had to call twice - wasting over half an hour as I got cut off first time. (Suggest if speaking to them highlight you want them to call you back IF cut off - they have to stop their automated system just putting next caller through to them - in South Africa).

Charming 2nd call handler 100% assured me that they agreed I was signed up to "Talkmobile Smart £7.50 24m with 250m/5000t/500MB" but the way their system will present that is as package £10 Smartplan 200m/5000t/250MB and billing with an automatic -£2.50 credit and +50m/-/+250MB adjustment each month.

I am going to clarify in writing with e2Save that they are going to accept that set up 100% for their cashback purposes - and of course check the bills and allowance announcements on 5888 [currently 0/0/0 as started today] do tally. PLUS having thought on it a bit more I am 100% unhappy to be sold one tariff name/price/allowance and have them account for another tariff name/price/allowance + price/allowance adjustments afterwards - just NOT ON.

All starts things off with a sour taste... They - and I - will have earned their net £0.00 over 24 months!!!

e2Save does honour the cashback deals as long as end-user sends required bills as per their conditions....

However, I would recommend that anyone who has recently signed up for this contract (i.e. 180cashback..effective cost £0.00p/m)...check your contract/package details.....with TM and e2save..... I signed up when advertised as 250mins, 5000texts and 500mb deal however TM welcome message indicated 200mins/5000texts/250mb.... So when you submit your cashback...this discrepancy in your bill may get picked and decline your cashback....be aware...
Anyone has experienced this or is it just me?

Tip: claim a PAC from TMobile now [took me over 30 mins on hold a couple of weeks back, but friendly UK guy gave me the code immediately + SMS + email]. It'll be valid for 30 days and you don't HAVE to use it, meanwhile it starts your 30 days notice period to leave that soon 'non-free' contract if you DO use it.
You'd have needed a PAC to hand on Friday afternoon to place an order on this deal - so if you didn't already have a PAC then your indecision hasn't cost you!
No idea re the Nokia 530 yet as I regarded it as a 'free gift' that I had to have alongside a 2yr £7.50/m less 100% cashback continuation of my 'free' T-Mobile deal. Will try it out eventually with one of those HUKD Kellogg's Mobile by Sainsbury £15 micro SIMs, just so I can see what Windows Phone 8.1 is about + the free Skype calls - see my link to another HUKD earlier in this thread..

I hope this offer comes around again. I delayed (thinking I had a few more months on my 'free' T-Mobile glitch contract)...turns out, it runs out in a week! The 530 looks like an ideal little phone...dodgy screen aside.
How are you finding it in performance?

Got mine during the 1hr DPD delivery slot [they are THE best couriers around here!] and my Nokia wasn't "open box" just "not sealed box" - which was surprising, but clearly how it's packaged. Regarding the colour - the packaging has FIVE different coloured dots indicating the range of colours available - ie the battery casing/back colour - and as you say it's a dark grey plastic rather than a true black (like the phone's face).
The Microsoft/Nokia website if you show 'full specification' shows 4 colours with a very 'medium grey' swatch
http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/phone/lumia530/specifications/
I had to phone e2save on their 01 number this morning as reading the T&C's it stated that using the contract SIM other than in the free Nokia would be a breach and Talkmobile could disconnect me for it. Got answered reasonably promptly (under 2 mins) and very friendly reassurance that no problem using in another phone, including noting it on my a/c and sending me an email to confirm. Also reassured me that claiming £back online via the website [the original listing said to post in] was not just 100% permissible but actively encouraged by them. Very happy so far. Number PAC tomorrow...
Fingers crossed on the possible TCB £28.35 here too...

e2save T&Cs say clearly is a "trading division of The Carphone Warehouse Limited" (ultimate holding company Dixons Carphone plc). As such you are contracting with CPW not a subsidiary company that can be folded independently.

Talkmobile contracts are with Talk Mobile Ltd, a Vodafone company that has been described as a 'joint venture' between Vodafone & Carphone Warehouse since 2010, and says it only sells plans through Carphone Warehouse stores.

So they are inexorably linked and while a disaster may befall either of them and hence anyone gambling on getting the £back and having the MVNO continue without disruption (cf Ovivo Mobile), all cashback is a gamble and the CPW/DC links should minimise our risk. (And the £7.50/m contract is a realistic/competitive price for the mins/text/data in the first place: it's not as if one was being tempted in to paying some outlandish monthly contract rate in hope of recouping enough £back to make it good value later.)
AndiTails
8 Nov 14 2 #111
Yes, if Carphone folds, e2save folds.
But, perhaps have a proper read into why Phones4u folded (I mentioned it above) and you'll realise it was purely the fault of the greedy private owners of the company.
If you really think the same fate is due to a company that's the largest European retailer, has thousands of stores, plus so many off shoots of companies that make it millions of pounds profit, perhaps you should never ever consider getting cashback from any company ever again...
Just saying..
Transformers
8 Nov 14 #110
I'm asking because e2save was originally part of The Carphone Warehouse group, and now they have joined/partnered with Dixons. So I'm saying if CPW suffer (i.e. lose their contracts with the network providers), will that close e2save as well?

Which in effect would mean we are not able to claim back the cashback.

BONUS on the Lumia... three month's Skype calls - from turnaround37's posting on here a couple of weeks ago...

"Three months of free Skype calls to mobiles and landlines
The world just got smaller. Buy a new Lumia and we’ll throw in three months of free Skype calls to mobiles and landlines, video calls and instant messages."
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/3-months-free-skype-calls-landlines-mobiles-worldwide-with-skype-gift-app-for-window-2027302

Don't get my Lumia until Monday by DPD (ie luxury of SMS to notify one hour delivery window!) so haven't checked how it works, but another neat bonus on this offer. Probably find it's an inertia selling exercise, ie sign up and get first 3 months free but then paid for unless you remember to cancel at the right time - which people signing up to this e2save £back deal should be good at diarising.

So thanks again to sdoherty1000 and turnaround37.

If CPW Group as a whole went under, they would probably spin off Talkmobile to keep taking money, but kill off e2save as the bit that pays out the cashback.
AndiTails
7 Nov 14 1 #107
Not sure what that has to do with this deal?
TalkMobile is a virtual network owned by Carphone Warehouse, running off the Vodafone network.
It is an entirely separate entity to Carphone Warehouse selling Vodafone contracts in its stores. In theory, they could lose the ability to sell Vodafone contracts, but still sell TalkMobile.
Equally, TalkMobile could change from using Vodafone to use O2 - with no affect to the customers or the workings of the network.
If anything, a virtual network is more resilient in that way.

Vodafone pulled out of Carphone a few years ago.
Then came crawling back after 2 years after their market share fell through the floor and their profits dived.
Don't think they'll be doing that again in a hurry...

7 Nov 14 #97
Thanks OP! My one year old HUKD 'nil' cost TMobile 200m/500t/500MB @£8/m less £8/m credit for 12 months (actually 23p/m recently as they RPI'd the £8up) was just running out having rescued me from sudden no-notice demise of past HUKD Ovivo Mobile MVNO.

I already had TMObile PAC ready for another promising deal - which this seemed at lunchtime when I bagged it - offer now expired as others reported. e2save are a brand of CPW ie now Dixons Carphone; TalkMobile is a Vodafone based MVNO of DC/CPW so both eggs in same basket there re organisation behind cashback AND monthly charge being discontinued = a good gamble that will be net zero cost. Oh and a Windows 8.1 phone to play with too!
mgk
7 Nov 14 #96
And if Vodafone, EE, O2 etc go bust the same could happen.....
I suspect that Dixons-CPW going bust in the next 2 years is about as likely

If you are going to worry about extremly unliekly events then prob best to live without a phone. Or perhaps live with the risk if worse case scenerio is pay the £7.50 a month if the world does in fact end....

Good deal OP -

7 Nov 14 2 #95

The networks didn't "stiff" Phones4u.
Phones4u demanded far higher rate for their contracts in order to cover their massive debts.
The networks refused to pay them far more per connection.
P4u wouldn't budge to a lower rate.
The contracts lapsed.
P4u shut.

I'm happily sitting on a Talkmobile contract and took out a similar one to this again, and have been doing redemption claims for years with only one issue (that issue was with e2save, but years ago when their processes were a mess).

However, I take up the deal knowing that I'm effectively taking a risk on e2save folding, and whatever the state of Dixons Carphone (DC), the reality is that when contracts with the mobile networks come up for renewal they can stiff DC in pretty much the same way as happened to Phones4U if they so choose. There are differences that make it less risky than Phones4U, but not so much that the risk can be completely ignored:
- DC is the no. 1 player (always a nice position to be in)
- The management aren't private equity taking a quick buck and keeping their fingers crossed that the networks will sign any old supply contract to fatten what was left of the goose but happy to allow the goose to starve to death given they'd got their money back already.

View this deal as a low monthly line rental contract and free phone with the potential bonus of future offsetting cashback rather than a guaranteed zero cost deal and you won't be unhappy if DC gets stiffed in 2015/16.

I had one of these deals once on a £45 12 months line rental contract....with the years total effectively being claimed back making it a free phone and £0...however i ended up still paying because there would always be a delay in them sending you the bill (backdated) and the short time u have to forward back to them, which meant sometimes they say they never received it in time and would not be able to claim.

Don't you wish information is read and understood before forming an informed opinion rather than just buying into the general misinformation. :smirk:

It may be true that VF and EE had a plan for P4U but P4U's demise is entirely their own undoing.

P4U was making a big basket to hold all their eggs but didn't bother to check whether there were any eggs at all; instead the hens decided that they'd rather sell their own eggs or better still have the basket for almost nothing and then sell the eggs. The inevitable losers in the sorry saga were the customers with credit owed and employees (to some extent).

AndiTails
7 Nov 14 #61
Not exactly true.
Phones4u was bought by private investors for £200m.
The private investors then decided to get out a loan against the company for £230m to pay themselves back, and give them a £30m high-five.
They then failed to negotiate rates with Vodafone and EE that would have a chance of paying off this debt (they quite rightly told them to naff off) so essentially shot themselves in the foot. Then leg. Then intestines. Then heart.

Carphone Warehouse, and now Dixons Carphone is a PLC - meaning all accounts are visible, including debts, owers, etc.
They're massively in profit and very healthy balance (mostly due to Best Buy buying them out of their partnership a couple of years ago).
They're not going anywhere anytime soon.

FYI

There is a £90 automatic cashback option as well. If, like me, you can't be bothered to send in the claims, surely you could just get the automatic cashback and pay £90 over two years for a contract as well as a phone? Seems like a good deal.

Topcashback doesn't look to be available as Talkmobile don't seem to be included.

I don't think you can get Quidco/TCB on Talk Mobile contracts but its still a free phone and free minutes if you follow the instructions.

Not true, just had my cashback from TCB in less than 3 weeks.

Done one of these before. Spent so much time on the phone chasing my claims. Eventually had to take the company to court

Wasn't with the same company but its put me off doing it again

I have used e2save on a 24 month cashback deal (£36/month).
As mentioned if you are methodical - use a good calendar - set reminders and send in the correct paperwork they do honor every payment.
If you mess up - you will lose - so don't go into a cashback deal unless you are organised.
The amount £7.50 is not astronomic but it all adds up so if you can handle the low minutes & data with the paperwork this is a very good deal.

I can't believe what kind of bul... people posting here sometimes. Free phone, free line rental and £28 quidco profit. Heat!!!!
dwl99 to Sliwka
7 Nov 14 2 #23
But very, very risky - if they go the same way as phones4u or Dialaphone this will cost you big-time.
jnm21 to Sliwka
7 Nov 14 6 #28
Agree fully! If you are organised & don't think the company will fold, excellent offer (though I can see how P4U has dented confidence). What I fully do expect is the same deal posted on HUKD at different times can be iced or hot - look at the last deals on this exact tariff & cashback (I think at least 1 or 2 with this phone) - they got iced. Well done OP for getting a good deal out there for people to evaluate fairly. Credit to the others who tried to post this before as well (even if you did not see their posts OP - I am not saying you did).

I need a SIM for a burgalar alarm so I have to pay £5 - £7 a month so I can access the alarm so in this instance this is quite a good deal if you get the cash back from e2s.
Even if I go for Auto Cash back thats then £3.75 a month over the term. I was paying £22 a month for ADT to monitor. Now I can do it for next to nothing!
jnm21

I thought only mobiles.co.uk (of the CPW now DCP) allowed online submission of cashback? When doing cashback with mobiles.co.uk, the cheques are CPW cheques.

I don't call £7.50 a month either very, very risky or a big time cost. Bottom line is if you cant afford it don't do it.

Quidco e2save T&Cs specifically excludes Talkmobile contracts.
urinthematrix
7 Nov 14 2 #20
It's a tough business climate out there, difficult to say if this company will survive. Dialaphone was very establish in the past- had numerous contracts from them, and there deals used get lots of heat on here but the went burst.
Had an online chat with this company few days ago and mentioned of e2save goes burst then CPW will not honour cashback claims.
Never the less, this is a excellent deal if cashback is paid.

Claiming cashback could be a lot simpler!

If it wasn't for the cashback, this is a very poor deal - £36 a month for the calls, texts and data offered - way too expensive.
