I second it as a former Three customer. Never gain either.

You should call up T-mobile and go to retentions. They offer such good deals to Orange and T-mobile customers to switch to EE. Normally you will either get a cheaper deal, more for the same money, and all with 4G. You'd be mad not to call, wish I was on Orange or T-mobile for this.

You can get their unlimited option for only £4.25 for the first two months and then just cancel it because it's only a 30 day contract?

I did call at the time. Only high use retention deals which I wasn't interested in.
500 mins unlimited text unlimited data £10 per month, no contract.

Unlimited usage is subject only to a variation of speed from 3G to 64 kbit/s for usage beyond 3GB per month per SIM.
Not really unlimited, but still a good deal

Ive gone for three. I got the £15pm tariff plus 40 tcb. 200mins/unlimited data and texts.(Buymobiles). I looked at all other cheaper alternatives and in the end i preferred a proper network with great coverage.. For such a small extra expense too.

Three has proper unlimited Internet too and free 4G. I pay £15 a month now and it's excellent.

Not unlimited internet tethering though which is a shame. 3 used to do some good tariffs before 4G came about. Not now.

How do they stop tethering?

Then why would someone go for this over giffgaff. They are 4g at the end of this month.

You're right. I was in T-Mobile and I changed to TPO. The coverage is the same but not TPO is slower.

I get speeds of 22 Mb down with 3G on Three mobile! Much quicker than the 7 max I ever got with giffgaff, and it was poor signal around Cardiff. I'm very tempted to see how EE fares with signal - I don't get any at home with Three and their three in touch app is rubbish.

I did a speed test today in a 4G area (Oxford) on Three, using 4G I got 72ms ping with just under 4Mbps down and around 1Mbps up... I then switched to 3G and got 65ms ping, just under 23Mbps down and 4Mbps up!
Normally 4G isn't anywhere near that slow, but I guess as more of it rolls out most phones are taking up the 4G bandwidth and the 3G's bandwidth is getting free up!
3G or 4G it doesn't really matter, they both have a really high max speed (Depending on network, on T-Mobile they cap it at about 4Mbps), but it all depends on how heavy the traffic is on it (IIRC 3G (H+) speeds are just under 50Mbps theoretical max, and 4G is around 150Mbps.)

I just want to say thanks guys, for all the great posts in this thread! My Three contract has recently come to an end and I'd just started researching where I could find a new and better deal. You've posted lots of useful info here and narrowed down my search enormously.
I've now got a good idea of what I should be able to negotiate out of Three's retentions if I decide to stay with them, and will also be taking a closer look at Vectone's deals. I've never heard of them so will need to find a lot more reassurance online about the quality of their service before taking the plunge, but their deals certainly sound interesting.
My mobile usage is going to be quite low for a while, so I may be better off with a PAYG to start with, but then I guess I'd miss out in the future on any deals from Three's retention department. I also notice that all the main network's PAYG deals that I've seen are now set up where you get an allowance which must be used up within a month. I wonder, are there any good deals to be had which give call time & data, where your credit &/or allowance doesn't get expired every month if you don't use it, or are those days long gone?

Hope it goes ok for you...
I'm going through an absolutely terrible porting experiencing with TPO.
Tried to port IN to TPO from Kontakt 6 weeks ago - was stuck in a split port situation for three weeks (old sim would ring/receive SMS), so now they gave me a PAC to port OUT from TPO which I am trying to port to Three, but again, same situation for the last 3 weeks.
No one is taking responsibility or explaining what the problem is.
Cant port in. Cant port out.
I've contacted their complaints department - happens to be a "Sam" as well...
Posted on their Twitter and Facebook.
NO success so far still :disappointed:

I've found them to be very responsive on Twitter. That problem of yours sounds like something went wrong in the shared PAC/number transfer system. They should be liaising with your old network and maybe even a 3rd party who control porting to sort this out.

I use around 120gb a month and never see a 4g data signal. Don't see the big urgency for it

OK, sounds good so spill the beans! Which company is this with, and is the deal available to new customers or did you negotiate it when your old contract ended?

The point i'm trying to make here is when someone **** you off because they don't think you have got a good deal to offer... Let that make you more determined to do a better deal. I did it with 3 ... Unlimited minutes, tests and 4gb of data for £12 a month. Give your present provider the chance to offer a good deal before jumping with someone else and do not be disheartened by criticism
