Please read the following link for a standard guide to watch water resistance - they don't stick watches underwater to check, rather they do a brief air pressure check - this bears little resemblance to actual water resistance.
Lovely watch. Ordered for an imminent milestone birthday for a loved one

I think this has the 7S26 movement which is widely considered to be very robust and reliable - it's the same movement in my Seiko Orange Monster.
It also has Lumibrite markings/hands - great luminescence albeit only a small amount. Plus hardlex crystal is very sturdy. I quite like the look of this. Heated.

My dad has one and wears it all the time, even works on the car with it on and he has had it for 3 years or so, no trouble with it. I am cautious of automatics and trust a cheap quartz the most, but if you want a good automatic then you cant go wrong with these. There are fakes about though, but some of the fakes still might be good.

Suitable for everyday use and swimming but NOT poolside diving, snorkelling or water sports.
It'll do me for the occasional washing up (very occasional ) plus I'm getting older I tend to take my watch off now when I infrequently go swimming.

Does the day date know when there are 30 or 31 days in a month or does this have to be changed manually?

Manually.

Evidently you were unaware, a lot of people are tbh. Basically an auto at 5atm, don't get it wet and definitely don't get in the shower with it.
rossysaurus
31 Aug 141#24
Water resistance does not cover for changes in temperature so getting in a hot shower or sticking your hands in a hot sink can cause expansion and create gaps for water to get in.
The rubber seals are not designed to withstand chemical attack either so some detergents and cleaners may further degrade the seals.
50m / 5 atm is good for rain and slash resistance and thats about it.
This is a lovely watch though, I might get one myself (if the wife lets me)

heat causing expansion would seal gaps.

scrumpypaul
31 Aug 14#35
I may well be wrong, but I believe that resellers don't offer international warranties, but that's the reason why they cost a lot less and it is often only resellers who can offer models that aren't current. I wouldn't have any problem buying from a reseller, I have done several times.
nublets2k

It is the same watch in the link as being sold on Ebay. Yorkshire watches have it listed as 37mm x 11mm high. It's not on the Seiko.co.uk site though. Anybody else got this email?
"Thank you for your recent order with us at WatchWarehouse. We are afraid there has been a stock issue error and the item you have chosen is out of stock. This watch sold faster than we anticipated, causing it to over sell.
We can offer you this Seiko 5 as an alternative, for £50.00 (including free special next day delivery):
If this isn't suitable, we can issue a full refund.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused, we are doing all we can to rectify the issue."

As they offer a 15% code anyway, you're only saving £2.70 off their normal price anyway, but are gaining next day delivery. All depends if you like the style of watch being offered ? They could have just cancelled your order and said sorry, etc, but it seems they are at least trying to keep your custom..........
....of course if everyone who ordered gets the same email it's a mah-hoosive con and I'd report them to E-bay.

I had this email and thought it was good customer service to offer an alternative rather than just cancel the order.
However i prefer the original watch so emailed them and told them I would wait until that was back in stock and as i wanted it in time for my holiday at the end of the month could they upgrade my original order to free special delivery as a gesture. Had an email reply quickly saying yes they would send the watch special delivery and I should receive it well before Sept 27th when I go away and thanking me for my understanding and custom..
