Usual caveat on these - this is equivalent to the cheap Chinatabs, but you get a warranty which makes it a more tempting prospect....but don't expect it to be anything more than "Just OK" for the money.

The screen is what lets this down hugely - it's NOT HD and is rather low res.

Still, have some heat as its a low price for this specific item...`i would still strongly recommend that no-one buys one though, waste of money

I'm pretty sure a grown adult defining their success in life by how overpriced the little toy they have is is kind of a bigger pointer to having failed in life.

Anyway, forty quid for something that can access the internet with, read books on, listen to music, watch programmes on iPlayer, do emails, access websites & play games is a pretty sweet deal, have some heat.

this has become totally confusing here Ive been doing my best mooching around online for half and hour on this.
a search on medion s own website only comes up with the MEDION LIFETAB E7316 which is only 8gb not 16gb !
(and ive read some confusion from earlier buyers ( at £79.99) that the box says MEDION LIFETAB E7318 when actually it contains the MEDION LIFETAB E7316.

If you don't buy an iPad, it just suggests it is the best that you can afford. Ladies will avoid you, you will have to explain to your mates about the number of cores it has and how much memory is in it, about how you can add a cable to get video out etc etc. It will turn you into a bore who is constantly having to explain it.
If you have an iPad, people will think you are wealthy and know quality when you see it.

Forgive me for being so stupid, but where is the price in your picture?

Here is the link to the Aldi webpage that shows this tablet on sale, from yesterday, 7th August, at £79.99

https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-7th-august/product-detail/ps/p/7-tablet-pc-medion-lifetab-e7318/

There is no way that this will be £39.99 next week if it has *just* gone on as a special deal yesterday.

This "deal" seems to have gone hot without anyone being able to verify that it is in fact a deal.

Seems peculiar that Aldi are selling the exact same tablet as a special buy from yesterday if they are only to reduce it by half next week. I know I wouldn't be best chuffed if I had bought this at the £79.99 - certainly worth it at £39.99 though.

It's cool man, my adblock seems to have blocked the pic on the other page (although it showed up when I was looking at the HUKD app on my phone), so my bad.

I just can't believe that Aldi are trailing this as a big special buy this week only to alienate everyone by making it 50% cheaper next week - crazy marketing! Granted it's a poor tablet for £80, but for £40 it's worth looking at - that's if there's any left by next week, that will be the clincher.

IS it possible to buy this from aldi now at 80, leave unopened then return and rebuy/ask for price match once it goes down to £40?

Edit:

Love their refund policy:

It's legit alright. Got the leaflet through the post today and popped down to my local Aldi since I know someone who works there. Confirmed they will be going on sale on the 14th and also confirmed that it is the quadcore variant and not some marketing gimmick to get the punters in to only then mug them off with the older dual core version. The specs seem to suggest it should be fine enough for anyone wanting to browse the web, email or YouTube. Perfect first tablet for a young one aswell since it's only £40 so you won't worry as much. No idea about the build quality though but will be buying one anyway for a nephew of mine. Any video reviews on this particular tablet??

Mrs "LD" aka Mrs "ALDI" doing aldi self promotion? Seems like Aldi are up to tesco style tricks?
Grumpy1
14 Aug 14 #120
The leaflet looks genuine enough in the picture MrsLD posted but as no one seems to have found one yet could it have been a leaflet for a new store opening deal? There is a new store opening at Harlaw Road in Inverurie on Thursday 14th August at 8.00am. https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/about-aldi/new-stores/harlaw-road-inverurie/

Just a thought & may explain?

Been to store in chelmsford essex this morning and spoke with the manager who said they know nothing about this deal.

It probably says on the leaflet somewhere that it's for that new store in Scotland. If so OP probably didn't notice and nobody should be upset, the conspiracy theorists are out in force on this one.

This is a cracking deal MrsLD. Just added some heat.

Just ignore the moaners. You posted on the basis of what you knew and survived a grilling from Inspector Hamster.
There is no onus on you ringing every store to make sure the deal is available.

I'm annoyed that I don't qualify for this deal. On account of me liking the Krankies .

Went to Aldi this morning, manager had not heard of promotion. Was a bit annoying deal fake as Aldi is a car ferry journey away hey ho don't believe all you read on hot deals!!

Tried our Aldi this morning before checking the latest comments and of course no deal.

Didn't realise it was for a single store only :-(

Thanks to the person who contacted Aldi and found that out, solves the mystery of how they could offer it at half price a week after it was on their special buys!

Bit of a waste of time, but no real harm done.

Checked today in Walsgrave, Coventry.

Wasted trip: http://i.imgur.com/4lO9MMX.jpg

Just seems like a wild goose chase, not listed in any leaflets either.

Which region was the leaflet from?

I'm amazed at the number of people who went to Aldi today expecting to find this deal, after it had been explained that it was an opening offer for one store only. Do people just read the first post and ignore everything else?
meherenow to Dealier
14 Aug 14 #146
Well, it wasn't actually explained at all that it was an opening offer for one store only - at least not in the first couple of pages.

Indeed, many of us, including me, were shot down in flames for daring to suggest (by using that rare gift of common sense) that this might not be an actual deal at all for the vast majority...
Dealier
14 Aug 14 #147
Not in the first couple of pages. But if you want the latest info on a deal it's best to start at the end of the thread and go backwards.

I also said this, and suggested it might be a local deal. Which is why if I'd planned to go to Aldi I'd have checked the thread first, and saved myself a trip by finding the posts from people who actually contacted Aldi about it.

It's not just this thread though, time and time again we see people commenting who have clearly not read more than the first couple of posts, and asking questions that have already been answered several times. Maybe it's just laziness.

Medium tablet E7318 (MD 98691) has a poor quality brittle screen which is not covered by the 3 years warranty. We purchased 3 sets and the three screens cracked preventing the touch mechanism to work. I assume that the screen is substandard quality and does not serve for the purpose intended if it break so easy, it is not tough enough to stand simple fall on its side. In contrast we have another 2 Ipad we purchase few years ago one for me and one for my wife they look branew. worth every penny. Do not be fooled by cheep and nasty electronics material. Excellent specification but poor material and not covered by 3 years guarantee.
