I noticed the 42" had been posted on here and have been looking at the 47" version for a few weeks now but it was £975 at JL .... so went back and had another look and it has been reduced to £799 ... less the £100. £699 for a 2014 47" Panny with 5 year warranty ... mines on order

I'm a huge panny fan but was disappointed to find out these are passive 3D. Now looking at a Sony W8 2014 model, active 3D on 50".

pannys are ****, crap customer service as well! Sony or Samsung any day, seen a few 50w829 tvs flying around for that sort of money which is miles better

I take it you've had a bad experience with Panny, but that is a wildly sweeping and innacurate statement. Have you personally reviewed this TV? Please share your expert opinion if you have.
I recently had a samsung 32" in the bedroom which despite being sparingly used packed in after only 17 months. Samsung and Currys were awful, didn't want to know. By contrast the SAME tv in the kitchen is still going strong. Luck of the draw.
And as for the 6 year old Panny plasma in the living room, well that beats the lot. Best tv I've had by a mile, Samsung, Sony and all.
When it comes to a new tv, I'll be asking the experts, not you, and I'll be getting a 5 year guarantee!

Panasonic always make decent equipment. They've just not got this years TV range right IMO.

the new range of Panasonic tvs this year are in my opinion not a patch on what sony or Samsung have bought out! panny used to make cracking plasmas, but they didn't have much competition and if I'm correct took over from pioneer! having viewed numerous tvs side by side playing identical content I'm afraid that sony and Samsung came out miles in front! there was a Sony 50"w829 for around £799 not long ago I'm sure! such a good tv in every way

So many blanket 'opinions' posted on here without any evidence to back them up. Since I'm trying to decide myself, I really would like to know what people base all this on. I haven't seen a single review of the AS650 for example.
Yeah, well familiar with that thread. its a bit inconclusive as is usual with owner opinions. A bit damning with Panasonic that they seem to make little effort in getting them out to pro reviewers.
