I think it could do with a bit of a zoom feature...in their promotional video, I could vaguely see that something was moving at the back of the garden ...probably a jack russel - I can't be sure. Probably better advertised as a ' detect something small in the distance & record it' camera (& then have some family fun guessing what it was)

Seems like a good price as Bushnell Trophycam is >£150.
We have a Bushnell - it doesn't have a preview screen though.
They are great for garden nature lovers - we have filmed hedgehogs, herons, foxes etc. that we would never have seen otherwise.

As a photography enthusaist, I know megapixel counts are nothing to get excited about but you can't exactly call that the latest technology. Good try, marketers.

I'll be interested when they start selling the ones used on Springwatch. In comparison I bet these just show you a blur of whatever visited your garden just leaving.

There's a someone who checks all the cars for unlocked doors in my street and raids them in the middle of the night . he's got me twice, nothing major lost. It's either that our he's got sine sort of unlocking device. I wonder if this might help catch him.

I got one last year and they are good - despite the doubters - if anything they are too sensitive and pick up movement at the back of the garden easily. I have recorded foxes and other visitors I never knew I had and have some good footage. Its very good at night with PIR.

Its easy to set up, comes with SD card and batteries (still on original set), and excellent mounting system and can easily be checked without the need to take apart the whole thing as it has a mounting clip meaning the bracket stays in place.

If you want Springwatch quality then expect to spend a lot more than this but I would have no hesitation in recommending this. 3 year warranty is a bonus.

Just to be aware that if you are using this to try to film thieves/vandals, it is not covert - i.e. the infa-red lighting emits a red glow when it is triggered which doesn't unduly affect wildlife but would result in it getting nicked by any person that saw it.

You can buy proper black-light versions but you would probably have to spend three times the price of this.

I got one of these from aldi last time I am really pleased with it you just need to play around with it to get the setting right for what you need to capture

you guys realise that hedgehogs aren't exactly fast (except for sonic), 15 fps is plenty for the garden.

This looks better -and a little cheaper- than the one I got last year. Had some fun with it; hedgehogs, birds etc. also the batteries last ages (weeks) so the time lapse function is pretty cool too.

Wouldn't advise this for any kind of security application, the sensor on mine has a short range. A wireless webcam(I got this cheap one) with iSpy can do facial recognition and number plate logging. I'm sure someone in the know could recommend something much better for this kind of money.

Just seen that these are in stock again online! Not sure how many they have, so get them while you can. Missed out last time, so will def be ordering one this time around plus still free delivery!!
