Surely this has to be the bargain of the year? Not enough data for me, in my experience you tend to use more 4g data than than the previous 3g.

Surely its just a case of waiting for them to get some stock for delivery? You could always point it out and ask them to reserve one/move on to a local store for you?

On the other hand, I totally agree with your sentiment about EE (but for other reasons)

Great price OP, if I wasn't stuck in a mediocre 24 month contract I'd have jumped at the £18.99 with 1gb data (funny how 3 months ago EE couldn't offer an old customer anything near as good as this for retentions.)

Any idea which one? I have a Samsung S3 4g phone on a 3g contract. The battery life is horrendous and I wondered if switching off 4g might help!
Crazygooner1
19 Jun 14 1 #26
4g only works faster. 500mb is 500mb. If you want to only watch one video it doesn't take more data. Ee data is capped so no high bill.

As someone that works around EE we had no idea this was coming.
faster4233 to Crazygooner1
23 Jun 14 #197
PR1 explained it the best. 500mb is 500mb but I was more addressing the people who where concerned that it was a 4G contract. If you are in an area where they have 4G you probably have good 3G and wont notice the difference for everyday things like web browsing. There are some exceptions because apparently 4G has a better range than 3G so you might get better coverage. However as PR1 explained if you want to use it for anything decent like better quality audio\video its not going to last long.

Do EE have unlimited Internet add ons like Three?
PR1
19 Jun 14 2 #28
Looking on the EE website, they claim 60Mbps, so that's 7.5MBps. 500 / 7.5 = just under 67 seconds saturating that speed. And a lot of streaming services will dynamically adapt to network conditions (i.e. genuinely will use more bandwidth for the same length of video/audio, albeit you'll have a decent quality for that minute or so...)

Just jumped all over this! Cheers OP. Phoned my local EE store and they only had the one left.

I have been looking at a new phone for a while as my SGS2 battery is on it's last legs, was toying between this, Nexus 5, G3, OnePlus one and waiting to see what Google announce at I/O next week, but for this price in my opinion it's a no brainer.

I wonder how long I can put up with the LG skin / bloat before I root and flash CM11...

This is great deal. I got one from Amazon SIM free for £285 2 weeks ago. I had a Nexus 4 which was a good phone, but this has a better camera, screen (size and quality) and the battery life is way superior to the Nexus. I should add that the Nexus cost £160 so the G2 should be better! The knock facility to wake the phone up is brilliantly simple. I am hoping that this will now last me a few years as new models from any brand are only going to have incremental improvements with "extras" you will hardly ever use. The main selling point for me is the battery life and the G2 excels.

Brilliant phone, got the 32Gb version imported but even with the 16Gb you can plug a USB stick in for more memory if you have the kit.

On the previous 4G question, can't you just set the preferred network type from LTE to 3G in the Mobile Networks option in settings?

Battery life is epic though, when I first recieved it I was getting battery estimates of > 90 hours and ran it for a day and a half and still had 50% left. Depends how much you use it though but can get 2 days of usage out of it even now.

Brilliant phone this. Very capable camera, fantastic screen and solid audio chip. It's one of the few phones out there capable of handling hi-res audio files because of its Wolfson DAC. The downside? No microsd support. This is a HUGE downer if you actually want this as a media hub for high quality FLAC files and HD movies.

Also I wouldn't recommend EE. I'm in a contract with them and while I have good reception in London, their customer service is abysmal. They compare to the old days of Tiscali broadband *shudders*

Not going to vote as it's a good deal at the face of it, but this iceberg has a few massive gotchas underneath

My wife is currently on a virtually identical SIM-only tariff in terms of minutes and internet with Tesco that costs £12 per month. I've got a Three AYCE deal with unlimited tethering at £15 per month. That Three SIM is going in the G2 which I will unlock to make use of my Three allowance, LTE and tethering. My wife will use the EE SIM in her Nexus 4. I will sell my Nexus 4 for at least double the £48 additional cost of this deal to us. I am sure many people will be doing something similar.

On Three, the G2 is £19.66 upfront and £20 per month on a 24-month contract with 600 minutes and 500MB data - £163.90 more expensive and 49% more, in fact.

It is a stupidly good deal.

From talking to the nice guy in EE telesales, I suspect that they find it easier to find stock for new customers rather than upgrades...

500 mins unltd texts and 250 mb on orange 11.99 deal. but after you use the 250 mb they charge 5p per mb or you can upgrade your contract to 16.99 per mth and get 1000 mins unltd texts and 500mb

They're just different brands of same company now.
Crazygooner1
20 Jun 14 #151
I didn't call anyone guys, I just know these things. Correct stocks shared now, however previously Orange stock was separate. There was still odd ones floating about.

I doubt anymore that Orange stock will be about for the G2. You'd probably only get one on an Orange upgrade if any is even left, as now as you'll be up sold to an EE plan, worth it but for some of us we just want the phone for as little as possible.

I'd suggest calling the orange upgrade department straight and asking for an LG G2 on Orange 11.99 plan.
lanoormohamed to Crazygooner1
20 Jun 14 #154
yeah same company but i think Orange only offer 3G services where as EE do 4G
musical
20 Jun 14 #152
I've got AYCE data with Three and took out the 100GB Google Drive upgrade which costs $2 per month which is a bargain. Given LTE's speed and the serious limitations Google has introduced to micro sd usage, a Plex server at home I can access anywhere, a Netflix account and 500 albums on Google Play Music, I don't see the lack of micro sd as that big a problem to be frank. I would have preferred the 32GB rather than 16GB version because it is space for installed apps that is the PITA.

Just rang up, the guy said he didn't think any more would be available over the net but would be available in stores.
Crazygooner1
20 Jun 14 #155
Correct. If I was going to use the sim of get the EE 4g. Better speeds and data is capped, but if some people will use the sim as a spare or dispose of it then the Orange tariff would be better.

For anyone interested still, I know Lakeside and Basildon have none left in Essex.

Popped into Stevenage today on the off chance. Staff had no idea about deal and the G2 on display showed from £22 a month.

They had one in stock and when they checked the tariff were suprised to see it was free at £13.99 so the deal is still out there. Probably more likely if you can find an EE where store where they haven't advertised the deal.

21 Jun 14 #170
This deal had been expired yesterday when I got one from EE telesales. Then the chap said the computer said no but he spoke to his manager who found a phone for a new connection. I am sure people will continue to benefit like me and the two people who just posted from Putney and Stevenage. I don't know why people want to expire great deals which are still benefiting people. Good luck to those still looking.

I also guess from the price at which EE is knocking these out that the new G3 will be very competitively priced to the networks.

I managed to order the last handset for my partner from the Southampton, Above Bar on Thursday. I was so impressed with the phone and £13.99 contract, I rang the EE call centre on Friday and successfully ordered another G2, which is being delivered on Monday. I have a Nexus 5 and according to reviews and on paper, the G2 should be a better phone (camera & battery) than the Nexus 5. However, I have been comparing my partner's G2 with my Nexus since Tuesday and I still prefer the Nexus. It is faster; runs smoother; screen appears brighter and sharper; it is slimmer, more comfortable in the hand and its less layered Android OS leads to a far user friendly experience. I originally planned to sell my Nexus, but will be sending back the G2.

Does anyone know if an Android phone will sync to Outlook.com ( the old Hotmail)? Not so much e-mail, which it will do easily, but also calendar and contacts. I know that iPhones don't have an app for it, so I always buy Windows Phone, which syncs flawlessly. But this looks a great deal.

The app for it is already built in on an iPhone. My son has one of these already and I was passing an EE shop in town and thought I'd chance my luck. I picked up the last one they had in stock on the £13.99 deal for myself.

The guy in the shop said to call directly as I was after another for my daughter and they are out of stock now for EE, but I did manage to get one on Orange for £11.99 which includes 500mins, Unlimited Texts and 250mb of data. I was told that the phones are locked to network and was read a spiel from the call centre guy that Orange would own the phone for 6 months and cannot be sold or unlocked in that time. Not sure how they can control this though?

They had a problem with stock, so he didn't know how many were left, but said that as long as he could see it in th eorder screen then one was in stock. If anybody wants one, I'd try calling Orange now. It works out at £287.76 for the phone plus sim for 24 months. Absolute bargain for an exceptional phone. My only gripe is that it doesn't have an expandable memory.

Picked up another (2nd) G2, this morning, from EE Belfast store - they ordered it in for me. This one also came with a free QuickWindow G2 case http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-Quick-Window-Case-G2-black/dp/B00F919VFA - so that was a nice bonus.

FYI - tried the orange number who said they had none. Then tried the EE number and they said they had 15 left in stock - bagged myself one. I love this site! Had the 13.99, 18.99 and 20.99 deals available.

The woman on the line said they sold through 80 yesterday - it sounds like they're getting new stock in daily, so I'd say this has time to expire.

Understood. I wouldn't trust wife/kids with it. My Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming up on 2 years old. Never been dropped once. Mint condition. I don't expect to drop the G2.

I've ordered hard "wallet" cases anyway, I prefer the hard cases and comfort of knowing it is well protected - even in my pocket.

Think I'm going to cancel my orders being told to phone up UKmail and them tell me to call EE back and forth, its too much hassel.
my delivery is held at the depot for no reason EE telling me that its fine and they have not said to delay the delivery weird if you ask. by far the worst experience ive ever had purchasing a phone.

Same here, absolutely rubbish service from ukmail
pgregg to lanoormohamed
24 Jun 14 #308
If you want the phone, then it sounds like you're about to heap more problems on yourself trying to cancel. Just wait for it to be delivered or not delivered. At that point you begin your DSR window for returning the phone. Return it then if you still don't want it. Trying to do anything else is likely going to confuse ukmail, EE and make more hurt for yourself.

Received confirmation of delivery scheduled for tomorrow.
This is still one of the best phones on the market, blazing fast courtesy of the Snapdragon 800 silicon, fantastic screen driven by an Adreno 330 GPU, and not to mention the epic battery life. The only slight disadvantage is the lack of a micro SD slot but hey ho. I was holding out for a Oneplus One to use with a SIM-only deal but the launch of that seems to have been delayed.

Had a quick play, seems nice, possibly a little faster than my N4, just need to get it rooted and put a decent ROM on to keep the job right, anyone know if there's a custom ROM that supports the quick window case?

I put my old Orange SIM card in and it worked straight away, assume it's unlocked for EE, Orange and T-Mobile?

Not sure this should be expired - I just (at 9:40pm) got the same offer - LG G2 on the £13.99 tariff as an upgrade from a SIM only deal by logging into my T-mobile account and clicking onto upgrades and then joining an online chat. If you need more than 500Mb any month, you get the option to buy an extra 2Gb of data for £7.50 which is OK for me I think.

Have a good look at the phone. You will be able to tell if it has been used as the earpiece is a bit of a dust and muck collector. If that is free of gunk and the screen is smudge free then it is as good as new despite seal being broken. If that is the case then keep it. Amazing phone. Simple as that. Battery amazing, screen amazing and so quick as well.

My girlfriend had the same thing when here LG G2 came through from this deal, it was disappointing that the seal was broke. but the phone clearly hadn't been used and the warranty is still valid as your receipt shows you ordered a new phone and thats all they will ask for incase of a claim.

Which makes the point of having a smart phone with 4g what exactly?

Its 4g, use of fast internet that makes the phones great.

Its like getting a 4k telly and then putting a Atari 2600 as the source of data!

I personally use video and take lots of pictures and so having a phone as powerful as this and no data and not being mobile with said data, make it useless to me personally.
Rickardo
27 Jun 14 #440
Just as you have emphasised it's useless to you 'personally', so Bikerdanny stated that it depends on the individual and were conveying their personal use. I, personally, don't have large data needs, but when I use it, obviously the faster the better. However, I'd have a 3G version of this phone if it kept the cost down as WiFi is pretty much everywhere for me (and faster).

I was told a similar thing yesterday, only then to be told this morning that the phone is 'end of line' and they are not sure if they are getting any more stock in... requesting me to phone back this afternoon or tomorrow - when I challenged her regarding people with existing orders, she replied that they do not fulfil back-orders ?!

Phoned again this afternoon, and another vague story from a different CS stating that they may have, or already had a stock refresh today, and that might have some LG G2's in it - when I asked her what time this would be, she said that she was not allowed to give out that information!?!

Very feckin' frustrating... Also cheesed off with the amount of info I had to give before the order got referred yesterday ( I suspect they may have run a credit check as well).

I am really happy with the phone with a Three SIM on the One Plan. I can't believe how much better this phone is that my Nexus 4 in every way. Very underrated and the buttons on the back are discreet and ergonomic.

If any wants a really posh case look for the Tuff-Luv real leather one on Ebay. It is £39.99 on the Tuff-Luv website but only £15.98 on Ebay. If you are patient you can pick it up on a tuff-luv Ebay auction for £14.99. Very nice, room for notes and credit cards.

I am a T-Mobile customer who took a new EE contract, but concerned that there is a page with the bill saying my T-Mobile account will now close! If you really wanted a new spec high-end Android phone then probably look at the Note 3 (replacement Note 4 arriving around September). It's got a S-pen and an excellent screen and battery life. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321376431116?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Before this, I have bought OTTERBOX CLEARLY PROTECTED 360 SERIES SCREEN PROTECTOR FOR LG G2 D802 from ebay. It might be a good product, but I didn't manage to fit it properly. It's quite hard because of the curved shape of the phone, so I just wasted the money. The cheap ones I recommended you I managed to install perfect bubble free. I prefer the "wet" installation. Spray a thin layer of LCD cleaner on the surface of the phone and on the surface of the screen protector, fit it, align it, hold it with one hand, and with the other squeeze the liquid.

Anyone after this phone, act quick as I have just returned mine. I upgraded this phone from Orange and got it after many calls and paying surprise delivery charge 5.99 which didn't mentioned. Surprised me again is I have to pay another 7.15 postage to return the phone by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guarantee next day 1 pm (Ha Ha the most expensive one).
I advice you to avoid EE / T-mobile / Orange, based on the following
Customer service:
1.)basically minimal or none. It took me 5 days to connect toi new network, in those 5 days, I have no mobile internet, just voice call and text but the text flying between my new and old phone and sometimes missing!
2.)I went to shop, but they are Sales people, called Customer Service many times and they pass the ball to technical, WhenI upgrade the phone, Shop sales said , new phone can be used within 30 mins, but not the case, called CS, thsy said next 2 hrs, and not work again then called again and finally to pass me to technical and the guy said another 48 hrs! But it didn't work again. At last I called to cancel the upgrade and the new phone network connected within 2 hours.
3.)During my call to upgrade, EE will admit Orange is the same group, but when you want to cancel, EE said they works independently and I have to call Orange myself. Very strange, its the same No. 150?? What further surprised me is the lady replied welcome to T-mobile when I called EE. Its very confusing. EE=Orange=T-mobile only sometimes!
4.)They will direct debit your money, taken your money and you have to wait the next bill to get a refund but I don't know when is the next bill as I was supposed to have left EE while on the other hand, Orange is still very happily continue to take my money from direct debit.
I may lose all those postage and an unknown final bill. with the broken promise and chaotic and poor service provided. I decided to disconnect with all costs.
LG G2 phone
1.)I received the phone brand but EE/Orange/T-mobile are out of stock for a long time, there won't be new stock as the G3 has arrived. what you are going to receive is refurbished phone I believe, just like the one I have just returned.
2.)The phone battery is great when using 3G but not on 4G, don't believe those said brilliant battery, so far there is not a single phone has super battery performance when using 4G, if you don't believe, just Find My Android to locate the phone and you will see
3.) The phone take decent pics but can't match iphone 4s. It has many interesting features. The photo is good for viewing on the phone but not good if you want to view in computer.
What worth the praise is the easy view case rather than the phone. you can flip the case to take pictures with one hand just like without a case because the window won't block the camera when flipped to back.
4.)The phone is not too bad but not top of the chart for sure, if you have some demand on photo quality, have a samsung TV, It can't perform mirroring G2 to my Samsung TV, they are tough rivals.

Last of all, I actually called to go back to my old Orange contract but I received a PAC code?? I guess I was abandoned, how embarrassing .........So good luck to those still rush to EE

it is available at an effective £60 more from mobilephonesdirect on the same £13.99 tariff, if you guys are after a similar deal. Using code MC39191 for £50 auto cashback

£31.50 cashabck available from topcashback, might not pay out due to the use of a code at checkout. If topcashback pays out it only works out an extra £22.50 after deducting the auto cashback, the £5.99 delivery charge from EE and topcashback.

sorry, it works out £69.99 upfront for the phone rather the £60 I quoted.

the same £13.99 tariff is available at mobilephonesdirect but the handset costs £119.99, using the code MC39191 gives you an automatic £50 cahsback (so no redemption required). This would pretty much make the upfront cost of the handset £69.99. In effect, it would cost £64 more (after deducting £5.99 delivery that EE charge) than it would if you ordered from EE via their call centre.

Topcashback offers £31.50 for new contracts so you could deduct that too if it pays out, but this may be declined as a code would have been used in the order.

My refund has further story. T & C said I will get my refund within 14 days in the form of how I paid it, by direct debit. Including the shock 5.99 pound delivery cost, EE took me 19.98 on 11/7, I called for a refund and go back to orange on 4/7; Interestingly Orange took me 16.43 on 9/7 (that quick). So EE and Orange took my money in the same month, It wiil be fine if I get refund from EE
BUT not full amount! EE refunded 9.79 to my bank account! It says refund for 8/7-24/7. This is not a refund, this is just the amount I overpaid. The CS said it takes 21 days to credit back but T & C said 14 days! I am afraid EE will charge me for the chaotic transition first week. Though one of the CS said EE won't charge me. Difficult to trust them. Thanks to a member here suggested me to claim the 7.15 pound postage for returning the phone. But EE said it may refund in the form of credit in my Orange account? I don't want credit. I want cash go to my bank account. So Orange took my money as soon as one day after but EE refund can take 21 days? I am now paying 15.50 for 50min 250 txt 250Mb data? Is there cheaper plan in Orange?

Upgrade from this deal available on the 10/05, what are people getting offered?
octopus
7 May 16 #554
Same here, deal ends soon. Do you have to call them or they offer an upgrade automatically?
casablancas
7 May 16 #555
Not yet, this is checking on the EE site. Not really expecting much from them as its was such a good price at the time- its even a decent deal 2 years later.

Take it if I cancel my contract will they let me keep the number?
octopus
7 May 16 #556
Request for PAC code and give one month notice for cancellation of contract.
sunnydurian
8 May 16 #557
Do you request the PAC code one month before the contract expires or on the last day of contract?
octopus
8 May 16 #558
You request for PAC code and give 1 month notice. You have a month to use the code before it expires. Then around a week before your EE contract ends you sign up for another contract and send them your EE PAC code.

Once your number is ported your contract with EE ends.

Hi, like many of you I signed up to this deal 2 years ago and my contract comes to an end very soon. Has anyone managed to secure a good contract renewal deal? Thanks

I went for the 12 month BT Mobile deal posted here a few weeks back. Received the £40 Amazon voucher last week and Topcashback has been confirmed.

Ideally I wanted to stay with android, but got a IPhone 6s 64gb with unlimited mins, texts and 2gb of data for £24PM back in November. All the other android flagships were £35pm + and with the amount of money I'll get when I trade this iPhone in it should cost about the same as this LG G2 deal that I got.

14 Jun 16 1 #563
Great thanks for the tip will contact ee to see if they can offer anything similar! Cheers

14 Jun 16 1 #564
It will be interesting to hear what is offered. I need to change as the LG G2 is so laggy at the moment. and the 16Gb space is a problem for me. I like the look if the P9 is possible, though I feel I may need to threaten with a PAC first.?
pgregg
18 Jun 16 #565
I phoned to get PAC code.
They did the usual we're faster/better/blah speech but did manage to get me to tell them the deal I was moving to:

https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/
https://pgregg.com/images/forums/vmedia.png
Which is sorta perfect for offspring.

EE offered me Unlimited minutes, texts and 4GB data for £9.99pm

I declined because* Virgin (despite being 3G, is still on EE network) and cost is 13x12 - 35 voucher = £10.08 per month *but* is a 30 day rolling contract. EE's would be a 12 month contract.

* I also told them I needed to leave because my daughter's account suffers from double data accounting... use 1GB, EE says she used 2GB. They've been compensating the current 500Mb for more than the last year with a free 1GB add on. Taking her away from EE is just easier.

Anyone else get txt a £100 off the phone if they stay with EE? I requested a PAC code before this
