I noticed this in Toys R Us (TRU) yesterday and wasn't able to share this at the time. TRU are running a promotion of spending £40 on Lego and receive a £10 voucher to use on Lego at a later date. Please check out the terms and conditions below.
Note that if you buy online, you can only use your voucher online.
Right, I know that I'm going to get abuse from some people but I hope that for others they will be able to benefit. The drawbacks to the deal are:
- This is not as good as their £20 voucher for a £75 spend, although if you don't need to spend £75 then this is better (if you are like me you always see something you want for £50-60 and then have to make the price up to £75 just to take advantage of the offer, so you end up spending more money than you want!).
- Toys R Us are known for inflating their prices above RRP, however, I managed to get a price match instore on a product in stock at ASDA so the price was reasonable and I also got the voucher! (They price matched the Lego Movie Set 70809 which is RRP = £59.99, currently online at ASDA for £42.97)
- Price matching can be hit and miss. The key is that the item has to be in stock and near to Toys R Us.
- Not everyone has a Toys R Us near them so it may not be worth travelling a long distance to try and get a price match instore and get this voucher (but this voucher offer is online as well).
Toys R Us still have in stock a number of discontinued Lego sets, so if you are still looking for particular sets to complete your Lego collection, this could be your chance to get a good deal.
I hope some people find some good deals with this, but please be aware that you can get Lego cheaper elsewhere so be careful what you're buying (and pricematch where you can!).

Really, how did you manage that? Toys R Us price match only applies to stores within a certain radius, last I checked Amazon didn't have any shops

I've also had a price match from Amazon as well. I showed them on my phone amazon price, that it was in stock and free delivery and Toys R us priced matched the item.

You got lucky there because Toys R Us policy don't price match Amazon. Definitely worth trying though

Yes, may be both myself and mattsearle both got lucky but definitely worth trying for anyone. The customer services lady didn't give any indication that they wouldn't price match amazon and I was very surprised at the time.

I was told instore that they price match online as well just not ebay or amazon marketplace. Normal amazon is fine though.

I also didn't realise is that I was given another £10 coupon (on the till receipt) because I spent over £40. I thought this was because I used my gold card but apparently it's a promotion running along side the lego one. This coupon cannot be used with other coupons but can be stacked with the Lego gift card. So for a £40 spend you get £20 back!!!!

So can I go in and find 3 sets of £40 worth of Lego (my son's birthdays and my nephew are coming up) and put them through the till in store separately, then get £30 of vouchers to then go back around and spend?

If you make three separate purchases of £40 on Lego (£120 in total) you will get 3 x £10 lego gift cards to spend from 28th April. You can use these three gift cards at the same time. You will also get 3 x £10 coupons to spend from 28th April but these are not gift cards so can't be used together (although you can use one coupon with the three lego gift cards). That's what I understand from the deals that are available now.

I agree with Schandlers' understanding of the discounts. I bought £138 of Lego across three transactions (total RRP £238, I rushed a bit, you could do better!) and got 3 x £10 lego gift cards and 3 x £10 toysrus vouchers. I was told I could use all three lego gift cards plus one toysrus voucher in one transaction. Other toysrus vouchers would need to be in separate transactions. The lego gift cards are valid 28th April - 30 May, the toysrus vouchers 28 April - 11 May. You don't have to buy Lego with the Lego gift cards.
The Lego Hobbit and Lord of the Rings discounts are very good just now, quite a few 50% but they're not showing up on the website any more for reservation or delivery. I picked up items at 3pm today and they still had lots of stock on the shelves that wasn't showing up yesterday online (Bradford store). Might be worth calling your local store before travelling but seems a very good deal to me. I didn't see any good discounts on other Lego, just Hobbit and LOTR.

TRU also stands for one of my favourite games - Tomb Raider Underworld - so heat for that and the fact that LEGO does appeal to me, too (I take delight in observing my two 49p series seven mini-figures that I got last year from Tesco).

Bought Lego Hobbit Unexpected Gathering and Mirkwood Elf Army in store today. Used two gold card vouchers to reduce it to £39.98 and received £20 in vouchers (lego £10 promo and spend £40 get £10 voucher promo) even though my total after vouchers came to under £40.

Yes, I used 4 lego gift cards and 1 toysrus voucher. They also matched John Lewis price so I paid £60.99 for Lego Millenium Falcon. I'm ignoring the fortune I spent to get all those vouchers
