I have this hoover in purple and love it. I will always recommend Dyson because you just wash filters rather than having to replace them and the suction is excellent, cleans up cat hairs with ease.

Ok Guys. Called JL. They said that the website clearly states to use ONLY one code which is DYSON100X.
The fact that other code works is a glitch on JL side and they said that they would review all the orders before dispatching and are not going to honour this. :disappointed:

Acknowledgement email means squat. Only the acceptance email (Once it leaves the warehouse) defines the binding contract.

To be fair it's naive to assume they wouldn't have noticed the huge influx of orders on this product anyway.

if jl were to do the same with this item and honour all taken orders up and until they sorted out the code stacking then the halfwit who tipped them off has spoilt a good saving for a lot of people !

ive been told not much difference between any of the dysons, they are all great. however dc25 is on the heavier side and not as mobile as the dc50 if we are comparing uprights, but the price you are saving, you are better off with the dc25 and take the 5 year warranty and maybe upgrade in future

i have cylinder dyson in the past and i preferred them. more mobile, but the wife believes upright is easier for her.

John Lewis have to honour a order if they have taken full payment, if your order is pending confirmation then they can cancel it! I've paid by paypal and my order has been accepted and my money has been taken, they may not like it but they by law will have to fullfill the order.

Did a quick search there. DC28 Doesn't have ball technology and is heavier but appears to be lightly more powerful,

Yes you don't have to^ when I worked for a different retailer, we also didn't pay much interest into the trade ins.

I've had that issue with a tracking number showing as delivered to another person with amazon but it did update a while later tomorrow should be interesting at the local waitrose and John Lewis stores.

Sent a "Failed Paypal Security Check" absolute rubbish! never had a problem with my Paypal account, it says "for further information please call etc..." no doubt the item will now be "out of stock". Why not just tell it like it is..... "Get lost, you're not having it at that price" instead of blatantly lying.

Paypal complete means nothing...always had this and then orders cancelled (IF they're being cancelled that is)

It's not that I thought they would realise but more that they might not have made a decision on what to so a few might get through so would more likely be those that pay extra to get them sent sooner. Was the same with the Ipad mini's a few months ago where I got one but most people didn't and had them cancelled. Would much rather pay a little extra if it means I'm a little more likely to get the item :-)

What happens if people receive their orders and don't bother sending in an old one? It seems to me that people could just not bother.

The dc25 seems to have very mixed reviews on the Dyson site.

For those who missed out, you can get one refurbished on ebay for £75-80. I am tempted by this but I am worried the device will become faulty once the 6 month guarantee expires.

I know nothing about hoovers. Is this very good for the £299 original price tag? Can decent hoovers be purchased in the £120 price range.

It will be interesting to see just how automated the supply chain is for JL instore pick ups tomorrow along with express shipping options unless whoever oversees the transaction processing is in UK (highly doubtful) I'd guess if you got in early enough they'll be fulfilled.

Got mine. There were at least 8 more behind the desk at Wolverhampton Waitrose so 'hello' to any neighbours. Woman said there were loads this morning. I took my old one and left it in the car but they didn't ask for it.
Just used mine quickly and the amount of fluff it picked up off a reasonably clean (or so I thought) rug that is about 5 years old is gross! I knew my old one was on it's way out but didn't know it was that bad!

I ordered one upright and one cylinder. The cylinder has given me tracking number- which is not recognised by the Hermes sight anyway but the upright is still order processing. I wonder if they have low stock on the uprights?

I thought I had an old Vax I was planning to take with me, but could I find it? So I thought I'd chance my arm and they handed over the new Dyson without asking for the old vacuum. I will still try to find the Vax and drop it into them later, just so I'm covered in case I get a charge added later.

Just taken delivery of my dc25 using Standard Delivery!

In all honestly I thought I might of dropped the ball by not opting to collect Next Day as I figured the John Lewis fulfilment centres would be blindly processing orders over the Bank Hol and all deliveries would come to a grinding halt once JL had realised their error.
I remember Phillips doing a mass recall of deliveries that had been shipped and were out in the vans when the drivers were told to bring everything back!! I was fortunate to receive my delivery just before the recall was made. Similarly, Currys were slow to wake up to their "£20 off everything" voucher code that saw masses of HUKDers placing orders for just over £20 with most getting their order but a few losing out :disappointed:

Regarding the 5 year guarantee.....does anyone know how this works? Do you just keep the delivery note in a safe place as proof of the guarantee? Doesn't say anything on the delivery note about the guarantee.....?

Does anyone live local to birmingham idealy no more than half an hours drive due to having to rely on a lift that no longer wants their hoover have been trying to get one for a few days but keeps saying out of stock many thanks

I already have a DC33 (upright) that I got from Tesco for £130 about 18 months ago, ordered the DC28c (pull-along) on this deal not at all expecting to actually receive it - now dunno which to keep, any advice, please? :smiley:

arrived, set up and already cleaned the house. Nice vacuum, one thing that could be better with the dc28c is for the ball to be unidirectional but I guess Mr Dyson wants to save that feature for another model to add to his millions.

edit - suction and dirt pick up wise it isn't as powerful as a Miele which wants to suck up your carpet but then the trade off is that it's much lighter and easier to use.

Lol please don't make me laugh. I never knew changing your mind, returning a product and receiving a refund for the full RRP instead of the online discounted price would count as theft.

And just for the record I have not returned mine to John Lewis. I sold it to another HUD member as the wife preferred the upright vacuum instead of the DC28c.

Paying £120 but expecting £300 refund is theft, no matter how you want to present it.

Comparing theft to (in your own words) an expectation of receiving £300 instead of £120 are two different things. If you have no solid basis on which you can support your comments please keep them to yourself instead of using emotion and so called morals.

Mine arrived this morning after ordering on a 5 day delivery on Sunday. Absolutely bargain and very pleased with it. Both codes worked at the time. Went for the dc28c. Person who delivered it never even asked about my old one. Only problem is I need to take it the tip myself now. Thanks OP.

Having tried it, I'm surprised by the poor suction compared to my old 2200w Samsung vac which cost me £60 3 years ago . Anyone else having a similar experience with the DC28 (which is admittedly more powerful than the upright)?

We always had uprights before (including a dyson) but decided to go for the cylinder this time!! Seems to get even closer to the room edges and lighter to use than the upright!

John Lewis kindly honoured this offer so yesterday I fulfilled my part of the contract by taking an old vacuum to their store. They signed my receipt as proof that I part exchanged.

For those who missed out you can use tesco direct 10% off code TDX-KMNT to get it for £180. Not as good a deal but still something more off.

I ordered online wills14 and used the codes. The codes stated part exchange Dyson numbers so the contract was to take an old vacuum to store, see John Lewis website.

I collected from Waitrose for convenience but adhered to the JL terms and conditions for peace of mind. Here's their Terms and conditions:
The offer is only available if the customer agrees to dispose of an old vacuum cleaner he or she already owns by entering the promotional code DYSON100X at the end of checkout, and bringing their old vacuum cleaner to the small electrical department next time they visit a John Lewis store.

No one stuck to the terms as it was only meant to be 1 code used but everyone used 2 codes lol...

There was nothing in their T&c stating only one code which is why two codes were accepted.:smile:

Hi boringest, I took my delivery note with me. JL dept had several old vacuums waiting to go to their storage room. I don't know if there's a government scrapage/recycling incentive for JL to dispose of these!
