The whole point of 4G is the ability to download large amounts of data in a short space of time. When will they learn that these ridiculous allowances are absolutely useless for any real purposes. If it's browsing or streaming on your phone, it's much better to get an unlimited 3G package. Three '3' in my opinion are the ONLY network that has figured this out and are offering unlimited 4G for £15, and will surely get my custom once my contract with Orange finishes.

Surely an 'old phone' for most people will not be able to make use of the 4G speeds. But good advice to save on the price of a dongle, especially if your old phone does happen to be 4G ready.

This is just internet BTW people, for tablets ect, and only seems to be a 30 day contract from what i can see. In other words no minutes or texts on this plan. However it is a great deal if you are using an 4g iPad or Google tablet over the next 30 days and need some 4G internet on the go. And unless you download music, apps, or update apps, i very much doubt you can use this up. I barely use 250mb a month and thats mostly on google maps navigating to my work place every day and checking emails.

Anyone know how EE network speed is compared to 3? I know in theory 4g would be a lot faster, but maybe 3 have better 3 speed generally so the 4g is not so much use overall?
Am using a 3 18 quid sim at the moment in my nexus 7 and this looks like it might save some money and be faster most of the time. Not bothered about the 5gb as it's just for occasional use (as vodafone on my main phone is atrocious).

Sstuff to rank bajin
17 Nov 13#11
It depends on what you plan on doing with the 5gb of data. I wouldn't stream films or do heavy downloads with it. For general browsing, facebook, twitter etc, uploading the odd file now and again, it should last you over 3 weeks I reckon. Also you should turn stuff off in the background on whatever device you're using, it will eat the data. Also Speedtest likes 4g, it took over a 1gb of my payg data within an hour.

I use these on Payg 1GB of my data disappeared with just minimal usage within an hour of just putting the sim in, I had a 2gb data sim. I have found the customer service to be abysmal when you require assistance, they told me I must of had things running in the background taking all my data, which I don't. Also careful running a speedtest it's a data eater, 80-100mb per test. For checking emails, twitter. sending the odd file etc it should bring good download speeds if you can pick up 4g in your area.
I get double speeds in my area, around 18-22 meg.
