I have been looking out for a sandwich toaster, and found this as an Aldi special buy for 10th November.
Great price considering you get panini and waffle plates, and a 3 year warranty.

Have you seen the reviews? And it doesn't include the extra plates for waffles and paninis.

considering one of these... if it's rubbish would they give a 3yr warranty? Worth the risk at £15!

Are you having a laugh?? It's not a budget toastie maker. Anyway the crappy budget one from tesco does not heat up adequately and the bread sticks to the edges!!
This is a great price for a three in one! Cheers OP for posting! :smirk:

Anyone know if the removable plates are dishwasher safe? If so then this is a great deal as toastie makers are a real pain to clean, particular with my favorite baked bean, marmite and cheese toastie!!!

I've never had any problems with Aldi electrical goods, but the 3 year warranty is reassuring. Remember to keep your receipt though!

Why is everyone raving about this when the above links clearly state in the reviews that this is just cheap rubbish? (assuming it is the same item, but does look identical and has the interchangeable plates.) I was going to buy one but this has put me right off

Bought one today, made waffle mixture and started cooking, the heat is not distributed evenly across the plates resulting in over cooked parts of the waffle, overall I am not impressed with it, so based on the fact I actually went out and bought one I am afraid I have to give a cold vote.

No Aldi in NI.
If you have no aldi Robert Dynas do one ( Don't have it either but they do offer delivery) £16.99 plus delivery.
About 12 minutes for mine, however I did need to turn them carefully and thus stopped the hot spots and burning. The toasted sandwich was ok, only ok though.

Make sure you keep your receipt - I got a similar one from Aldi a while ago. Used it straight away when we got home and it worked great. Didn't use it for about 4 weeks - got it out and it wouldn't turn on - by this point we had lost the receipt so no refund. Threw in bin.

buy 2 value irons at£4.99 and tape them together with any fillings you want
and its dishwasher safe as irons have water in them!

do these have a floating hinge or something similar that allows it to cope with the thickness of paninis?
Don't want it push the filling and top of the panini to the front as your press down.

Made waffles on mine last night. Once I got to grips with the amount of batter required, the results were pretty good. I let it heat up for a while and gave the plates a spray with cooking oil, no problems at all. Took about 6-7 minutes per batch.
The only downside is that it's fiddly cleaning the lid hinges when you spill stuff on them.

little tip when making waffles ,if they are a bit soggy leave them to go cold then put them in a toaster ,crunchy and delicious

I had one from LIDL, very similar to this, and it's brilliant. Can't find a a proper waffle recipe, the ones on bbc or allrecipies are not really waffles. If anyone can advise, please send me a message
I bought one of these, and the first time I used it almost at the end of the first toasted sandwich it snapped crackled then popped and died took it back and got refund but they had none to replace it with. shame was looking forward to trying out other uses
