First post, please be gentle! I know there is some debate as to whether these coins will actually be accepted by banks (I would be interested to hear details from anyone who has deposited one into their account), but if this is possible then you're getting £5 for £3.49 plus 9.45% TCB. Also, the previous deal (£5 from the Royal Mint) was for the Paralympic coin, did not offer cashback due to the Royal Mint's rules, and I believe was limited to 4 per customer. H Samuel are currently offering both the Olympic and Paralympic versions (Paralympic version here: http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/9631194/the+london+2012+paralympic+brilliant+uncirculated+%c2%a35+coin/) at £3.49 each, with a limit of 9 per transaction.

Thanks, I forgot to say you get the £25 off voucher (on £75 spend on non-discounted items) if you spend £9.99, so 3 coins. If you're buying in bulk, it might be worth splitting into multiple transactions as you get a new £25 off voucher with each transaction.

It could be your browser - may need to use Internet Explorer 8 (I think). I tried with Firefox earlier and it was stuck on processing order and did nothing

I thought legal tender and usable cieculation coins were two different things.
legal tender being the maximum volume of a specific coin someone has to accept, ie up to 20 * 1ps, most will accept more.
while usable circulation being if classified as usable or comemerative. if comemerative then down to the value that the recipient values it as.
might be wrong, sure someone else be along shortly who does know exactly and actual terms

I believe you are correct regarding legal tender, but I have also read that some banks have accepted these, while others have not (usually when attempting to deposit in bulk).

Regardless, I believe £6.98 for the Olympic £5 coin and Paralympic £5 coin is a good deal

9 of them for £31. take them to the post office or bank to get £45 back. not a bad little profit. if nowhere will take them, it's possible to flog them off to a pub/restaurant. if you pay for your meal at the end i'm pretty sure the owner has to take any legal tender. these are legal tender, so if these 9 £5 coins are all you have, it's tough luck for them. xD
Sorry, we are unable to accept your order as your bank has not authorised payment.
We would suggest that you contact your bank for further clarification before attempting to place your order again. Alternatively, please use a different payment card.
Nothing wrong with any of the 3 cards I have tried!
Except this coin isn't gold, and it's a £5 coin being sold at less than £5. You're right if banks don't readily accept them though.
Nice keepsake but voted cold since can't complete the order

but paying for a meal after you have had the meal is a debt. you're a debtor to the business and can pay with any legal tender?

Wrong - banks and the Post Office do. If anything you can deposit money to your bank via the Post Office and pay in £5 coins.

23 Jul 13#61
Yea.. sure... and that forum and lots of others online are just lying... I'm only giving you guys a heads up. Don't expect to be making money from this if that's what you're ordering it for. As a little round shiny piece of metal, it's a fair price, but nothing special here.
donslibi
23 Jul 13#62
I'm sure it's worth **** off every local pub by forcing a £5 coin down their throat just to save £1.5!! You'd have a hard time using it, even in that case, but if it reached the courts (which it wouldn't for such a petty amount), then yes you can use your £5 coin. Provided they don't turn around and ask you to use some of your 'normal' money, which you actually earned.
m5rcc
23 Jul 13#63
I think you're forgetting what this "little round shiny piece of metal" actually is. It's a legal tender, whether shops accept it, or not. If it can be purchased a discount, then it's pure arbitrage.

i ordered ONE and when i got to the store this was waiting for me.
i said to the guy behind the till , i only ordered one but i'll take them all at £3.50 a coin..

I spent half an hour online chatting with one of them today and was told that the warehouse couldn't confirm that they had any of these (which surprisingly suggests they are out of stock, according to the woman I was chatting with?).
The Olympic one has been marked as discontinued on their system so you'll be lucky if you actually find any store with stock?
The Paralympic one you can order instore as it's not discontinued yet, but they get them from the central warehouse and they can't confirm they've got any stock??
Basically, they ain't got any left!!
Well done to anyone who actually got these, lots of us on here didn't
